This completed application, including a signed declaration affirming that your team’s project is original Presentation in PowerPoint or similar format as your main deliverable that fully details your project (no more than 20 slides) One Curriculum Vitae/Resume per team member A brief bio per team member Team photo

Teams are asked to present an original project, product or other innovative idea that, “exemplifies and promotes social innovation and sustainability through collaboration, fair trade, and ethical international business practices.”

All teams will be required to participate in a 30-60-minute video conference call with the Foundation Board of Directors to explain their projects and answer any questions. You will be contacted after submission to schedule your appointment.

Presentations and projects will be scored by the criteria that appear at the end of this document, as well as your answers to the questions below.

We are asking all applicants to answer the following questions to assist in judging projects to see how they align with these criteria. Please provide thoughtful answers to each.

1. Social innovation is defined as “new strategies, concepts, ideas, and organizations that aim to meet social needs resulting from working conditions, education, community development, and health. These ideas are created with the goal of extending and strengthening civil society.” How does your project advance social innovation, as defined above? (300-word maximum)

2. Sustainability is defined as, “capable of being maintained at the desired rate and level into the future, while avoiding the depletion of resources, and with minimal impact on the natural environment.” How does your project achieve its goals in a sustainable way, as defined above? (300-word maximum)

3. Collaboration, fair trade and ethical business practices are defined as, “Working with other parties and individuals in a constructive manner, utilizing trade and business practices that promote a level playing field where no parties are unfairly exploited, and ensuring all individuals are treated in ways that conform to the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.” How does your project meet these criteria? (300-word maximum)

4. Measurement of impact is critical as we work toward these common goals. Explain what metrics you will use to determine whether your project is a success. (300-word maximum)

5. Explain how your team demonstrates potential to scale your project’s goods, services and/or knowledge across borders. (300-word maximum)

Projects will be scored along the following criteria, with a maximum of 100 points possible.
