Western’s Indigenous Students take the win at the inaugural Indigenous Students versus Staff Basketball Match On Friday the 6th of October Western Sydney University’s Indigenous students, staff and broader community came together for the inaugural Indigenous Student versus Staff Basketball Match at the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre. All players donned jerseys displaying our Western Indigenous Artwork and put in a massive effort on the courts. The event was well attended with Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education, Professor Susan Page, leading the cheer squad and broader community on the grandstands.
It was a day of coming together and building valuable connections between students and staff in a fun way that promoted Indigenous excellence and wellbeing through positive engagement. The staff team included Western’s Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Clare Pollock, two Deans, Professor Matt McGuire and Professor Brian Stout, and many others from across the University. The student team included undergraduate and post-graduate students from a range of schools and disciplines.
