ABOUT THE ARTIST Michael Feliciano-Vidot, Jazz Performance
Michael Feliciano-Vidot is currently a senior at West Chester University of Pennsylvania majoring in Jazz Performance. He performs with the university’s Latin jazz band and Criterions Jazz Ensemble. During his time at WCU, he has studied with Jonathan Ragonese, John Swana, Tim Brey, Peter Paulsen, and Mark Allen. He has also had the opportunity to share the stage with renowned musicians such as Steve Wilson, Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin, and John Swana, as well as classical figures Frank Ticheli and Viet Cuong. Outside of his studies, Michael serves as a professional musician in the Army Reserves as a member of the 78th Army Band. Based at Fort Dix, NJ, and Fort Totten, NY, the band plays in ceremonies, graduations, and parades. His military service also gives him an opportunity to play with a Salsa band. Michael’s goals after graduation are to attend graduate school and grow as an improviser, not only in the traditional jazz idiom but also to expand his knowledge of Latin and Caribbean music. Michael takes great inspiration from the music of Paquito D’Rivera, Cannonball Adderley, and Sonny Stitt.
