2025 ANNUAL REPORT ABOUT WSIA The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA) is a world-class member service organization representing the entirety of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry.

WSIA’s membership consists of 765 member firms, including U.S. Wholesale, U.S. Insurance Market, Associate and Service members, representing tens of thousands of individual brokers, insurance company professionals, underwriters and other insurance professionals worldwide conducting business in the U.S. surplus lines market.

WSIA members of all shapes and sizes gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace through active participation in the only association dedicated specifically to the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines insurance industry.

MISSION The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association is the non-profit association of professionals and specialty market leaders dedicated to the wholesale distribution system. MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR DEAR WSIA MEMBERS, On behalf of the WSIA Board of Directors, I am pleased to present the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association’s 2025 Annual Report. This report highlights the association’s accomplishments, continued momentum, and strong financial position over the past year, which reflects the strength of our members and the industry.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as WSIA Chair, and I am proud of the return on investment WSIA delivers to tens of thousands of member professionals. I extend my sincere thanks to the WSIA Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the time, energy, and leadership they devote to advancing the association’s mission; their commitment makes our collective work possible.

Throughout 2025, WSIA experienced meaningful growth across its key pillars of work. Member participation at WSIA networking events reached new levels, reinforcing the value of these connections. Our summer internship programs welcomed an expanded group of students exploring careers in the wholesale, specialty, and surplus lines industry, helping to strengthen the industry’s talent pipeline. Engagement with the WSIA PAC also continued to grow, reflecting broad-based support for advocacy efforts that protect and advance our industry.

Our industry’s success depends on its ability to adapt to emerging risks and market shifts, and that same mindset helps guide WSIA. In 2025, we expanded our legislative and regulatory advocacy team to more effectively partner with state associations in our effort to

promote and protect our industry. We also enhanced our talent outreach, creating new opportunities for more students while equipping member firms with resources to support the development of a broad pipeline of future professionals.

WSIA remains on solid financial footing. Guided by the Board of Directors, the association maintains a PHILLIP MCCRORIE healthy operating reserve to WSIA CHAIR support long-term stability and future initiatives. Sound governance and fiscal discipline ensure WSIA is well-positioned to meet the needs of a growing and increasingly engaged membership.

This year also provided an opportunity to reflect on our heritage. WSIA marked its eighth anniversary on August 1, and our legacy organizations would have also reached historic milestones with NAPSLO’s 50th anniversary and AAMGA’s 100th anniversary. While we remain focused on the future, it is important to honor the leadership and history that shaped the vibrant association we are today.

None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of our members. I offer my sincere gratitude to the 403 committee volunteers and many others who contribute as education facilitators, campus ambassadors, mentors and internship hosts.

WSIA’S VALUE PROPOSITION The Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association is the only trade association that serves the entirety of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. WSIA strengthens members’ competitive advantage in the insurance marketplace by promoting the market and value of wholesale distribution, protecting and advocating for an effective regulatory and legislative environment, supporting business through networking and enabling professionals with education, professional training and talent development opportunities.

WSIA MEMBERSHIP During 2025, the Membership & Ethics Committee reviewed 76 new membership applications and approved 17 U.S. Wholesale, 11 U.S. Insurance Market, 7 Associate and 40 Service Member applications.

WSIA’s 2025 Annual Report highlights the association’s financial performance and accomplishments during a year of continued growth and opportunity for the wholesale, specialty, and surplus lines industry. It

UNDERWRITING SUMMIT

EDUTECH CONNECT

The Underwriting Summit offers designated time for networking and business meetings for the underwriting, delegated authority, program specialist and professional and financial lines segments of the WSIA membership, as well as firm leadership.

EduTech Connect blended the most valuable components of the former WSIA Insurtech Conference with WSIA University. The result was a new event with learning tracks including technical training, professional development and innovation topics as well as networking and exhibitors.

2025 Event Highlights:

In addition to sessions, attendees networked during receptions and meetings in the Networking Hub with sponsors and exhibitors.

•1 ,694 members from 444 member firms participated in Phoenix, AZ, March 9-12, 2025, setting an event record with a 6% increase over 2024.

•P articipants were: 34% Wholesale Market Members, 35% Insurance Market Members, 17% Associate Members and 11% Service Members.

2025 Event Highlights: •2 62 industry professionals, from 120 member firms, participated in Orlando, FL, November 12-15, 2025.

20 firms exhibited in the Networking Hub. •P articipants were: 26% Wholesale Market Members, 32% Insurance Market Members, 4% Associate Members and 38% Service Members.

• I n addition to a Keynote Session and Innovation Roundtables for all attendees, 28 sessions were offered.

ANNUAL MARKETPLACE Annual Marketplace is the premier wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry event. Members attend the event for networking and business meetings throughout the week in the Brokers’ Lounge and The Club.

2025 Event Highlights: •8 ,801 registered participants, from 728 member firms, participated in San Diego, CA, September 14-17, setting an event record with an increase of 6% from 2024.

•P articipants were: 43% Wholesale Market Members, 38% Insurance Market Members, 13% Associate Members and 6% Service Members.

•E vents and meetings were headquartered at both the Manchester Grand Hyatt and Marriott Marquis to accommodate growing attendance.

U40 CONNECT U40 Connect is a forum for under-40 wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry professionals for education, exchange of industry information, volunteer service and networking.

2025 Event Highlights: •2 30 U40 members from 90 firms participated in Boston, MA, October 19-21, 2025, setting an event record.

•P articipants were: 40% Wholesale Market Members, 47% Insurance Market Members, 11% Associate Members and 2% Service Members.

•P rofessional development sessions, industry education, peer-led discussion panels, actionable tactics to create an inclusive culture, and networking.

•C ommunity service engagement with Letters Against Isolation, an organization that serves thousands of seniors in the U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K. Through the generosity of member firms and individual contributors, WSIA’s U40 also raised more than $35,000 in support of American Red Cross disaster relief efforts during a fundraiser at Underwriting Summit.

LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY ADVOCACY, COMPLIANCE & PAC

WSIA helps members promote and protect their position in the insurance market

by advocating for governing principles and objectives that lead to more uniform and efficient business operations within the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry.

With the support and direction of the Legislative Committee and Board of Directors, WSIA represents its members before state and federal legislators, insurance regulators and other groups impacting the industry’s compliance and business practices.

The Political Action Committee (PAC) helps the association educate members of Congress, state legislators and state insurance commissioners about the importance and impact of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry on the nation’s economy. The PAC offers an influential voice on the industry’s complex insurance issues and can also offer financial support to candidates whose philosophies are consistent with the goals of WSIA and its members.

IN 2025, CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WSIA PAC TOTALED $454,803

6 LEGISLATIVE & REGULATORY ADVOCACY

IN 2025, THE ASSOCIATION: • I nvested more than $600,000 in state and federal advocacy services focused on: OP rotecting the surplus lines industry’s freedom from rate and form regulation to ensure that WSIA members can continue to provide coverage to insureds.

OC larifications and improvements to laws governing surplus lines policy fees and diligent effort processes.

O Advocated for implementation of National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers (NARAB), the passage of Secure and Fair Enforcement Regulation Banking Act (SAFER), the Tackling Predatory Litigation Funding Act and a long-term extension and reform of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

STATE ADVOCACY HIGHLIGHTS • Along with Florida Surplus Lines Association, worked to limit application of emergency provisions imposed upon the surplus lines industry following disaster declarations.

•L ed and supported successful efforts to clarify the use of surplus lines policy fees in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

•S upported successful efforts to modernize diligent search processes in Colorado and Minnesota.

•L ed passage of Alabama law to eliminate zero premium reports, tax sharing authority and reduce tax reporting requirements.

•S upported efforts in Louisiana to eliminate “three-year rule” and reform bad faith laws.

WSIA PAC • Contributions

to the WSIA PAC came from 868 individuals and totaled a record $454,803.

•C ontributed $292,000 to state and federal candidates whose philosophies align with the goals of WSIA and its member firms.

EDUCATION

WSIA provides a full slate of technical training, leadership and professional development programs to advance WSIA

members’ employees’ careers. The association presents and develops programs for new and seasoned E&S professionals that are offered in a progressive format, so participants are appropriately challenged through every phase of their careers.

In 2025: •7 74 member professionals participated in 11 on-site WSIA education programs.

•E duTech Connect was reinvented, blending together the most valuable components of the former WSIA Insurtech Conference with WSIA University. The event featured learning tracks including technical training, professional development and innovation topics as well as networking and exhibitors.

• The Art of Presenting with Purpose was offered to 70 WSIA volunteers to help improve their facilitation effectiveness and engagement with WSIA content and education delivery.

WEBINARS AND PODCASTS WSIA hosted seven free member webinars during the year with 870 members participating during the live sessions or watching the recordings on demand.

Webinars were hosted by the WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation on topics including Emotional Intelligence, Neurodiversity: What It Is and What It Isn’t, Cultivating Inclusive Spaces, Disability Inclusion: Your Role in Disability Inclusion No Matter Your Title, Developing and Maintaining Workplace Relationship Through a Lens of Inclusion, Nonprofit Board Essentials, and Reducing the Stigma of Mental Health in the Workplace.

TALENT OUTREACH INITIATIVES

WSIA develops awareness and interest in surplus lines career opportunities among young and emerging talent through campus and student organization visits, education opportunities, symposiums and career fairs, internships, and scholarships. The association’s Talent Outreach Committee, Internship Committee, the WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation and WSIA Education Foundation collaborate on this work.

IN 2025, THE WSIA TALENT OUTREACH COMMITTEE REACHED

COLLEGE STUDENTS.

TALENT OUTREACH • The WSIA Talent Outreach Committee reached 3,792 college students with promoting career opportunities in wholesale, specialty and surplus lines with virtual and in-person presentations.

• Conducted three Extreme Risk Taker student symposiums, with financial support from the WSIA Education Foundation. o Las Vegas | 113 student participants from 12 schools o Chicago | 198 student participants from 20 schools o Atlanta | 325 students from 28 schools o 37 WSIA member firms participated in symposium career fairs with the opportunity to meet and talk with students from across the country during these symposiums.

• Participated in five Gamma Iota Sigma events and visited with 999 students during hosted career fairs, Discover GIS session, Career Directions session and E&S presentations. o WSIA, the WSIA Education Foundation and the WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation continued Sustaining Partner level support of Gamma Iota Sigma, which focuses on growth and diversification of the insurance industry’s talent pipeline. WSIA staff also serve on the GIS Board of Trustees and GIS Advisory Council.

• The WSIA Education Foundation committed a total of $275,833 to 103 students at more than 30 universities through the Derek Hughes Scholarship Program.

• Hosted White Paper and Video Contests to expand surplus lines awareness and knowledge for risk management and insurance students. Students submit papers or short videos on one of four pre-selected topics, and winners are awarded cash prizes. o Video Contest - 11 participants from seven universities researched and produced short videos on Insurance MythBusters or Reenactment of a Claim Scenario o White Paper Contest - 19 participants from eight universities submitted research papers on Inflation: Effects on Industry or Litigation Abuse.

WSIA INTERNSHIPS • 27 students with risk management course experience were selected as Immersion Interns and hosted by 30 WSIA member firms. Additionally, 15 students, who did not have previous RMI exposure, were selected as Exploration Interns and hosted by 13 member firms.

• All interns participated in a three-day orientation program in Kansas City prior to their first assignment and were paired with mentors for the summer.

• The top 17 interns were selected to participate in the Annual Marketplace. Two of the attending Immersion Interns were selected as our J.H. Blades Scholars and will study the London market in 2026. Two of the attending Exploration Interns were selected as Carlton Maner Scholars to shadow an industry professional and offered the opportunity to work as a WSIA Immersion Intern in 2026.

2025 AWARD HONOREES VINCENT DONAHUE/CHARLES MCALEAR INDUSTRY AWARD BRYAN SANDERS, LIFE MEMBER

Bryan Sanders was honored with the Vincent Donahue/Charles McAlear Industry Award, the association’s highest distinction. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the association and the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. It is named after Vincent Donahue and Charles McAlear who were pioneers of our legacy organizations. Donahue served as president of Jefferson Insurance Company and was instrumental in encouraging competitors to join AAMGA. McAlear initiated organizational efforts to form NAPSLO as the national surplus lines association in the early 1970s and served as its first president from 1975 to 1977.

While also working as a highly respected industry leader for more than 40 years, Bryan has been a tireless promoter of the association’s value and work. He served on the AAMGA and WSIA Board of Directors between 2017 and 2022 and as WSIA President from 2020 to 2021. He was our first virtual President, during a global pandemic, which he managed adeptly as he modeled grace and calm for the association and his colleagues.

For his years of dedicated volunteerism and leadership to this association and the industry, we were thrilled to recognize Bryan with this award.

RICHARD BOUHAN LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY AWARD The Richard Bouhan Legislative Advocacy Award honors individuals whose advocacy helps advance the legislative interests of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. It was created in 2006 in recognition of Dick Bouhan’s outstanding legislative work as Executive Director of the association from 1988 to 2011.

DAVE DEMOTT, GRIDIRON INSURANCE UNDERWRITERS

Dave has supported WSIA’s Legislative Committee and our advocacy work for nearly a decade. He has been an invaluable partner to WSIA, while also serving as a leader for the Florida Surplus Lines Association, and he has helped facilitate a strong relationship for all parties in addressing surplus lines issues in the state. His expertise, passion, and persistence were key to the negotiation of 2024 legislation impacting the cancellation and nonrenewal of surplus lines policies post disaster.

EARLE DILLARD AWARD The Earle Dillard Award honors the contributions and outstanding service of a Committee Chair. The award is named after Earle Dillard, who served as president of Bloss & Dillard and as AAMGA President from 1973-1974. He led various AAMGA initiatives over many years, including the mid-1960s group that shaped many of the AAMGA’s operating policies and the formation of the AAMGA University Foundation in 1988.

TONY CHIMERA, WESTFIELD SPECIALTY

Tony has been an association committee volunteer for more than 20 years, and he has served as a leader for the Internship Committee over many years. His investment in not just talent outreach initiatives, but specifically his commitment to recruiting and retaining a broad pipeline of talent for the industry, is unparalleled. He has also worked tirelessly to embed that work into the WSIA Internship and Talent Outreach Committees.

TJ DAVIS, RT SPECIALTY

TJ has been a committee volunteer for six years, serving on the Talent Outreach Committee. He brings great energy and enthusiasm to all he does and has been a tremendous advocate for developing internship opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. He was also instrumental in bringing the two WSIA Internship tracks together to benefit all students.

DANA ROEHRIG AWARD Named for Dana Roehrig, who served as the second president of NAPSLO, the award recognizes the efforts of outstanding volunteers to one of the association’s working committees.

MIMI FISKE, MARKEL

Mimi has been a member of the PAC Committee for eight years and has committed a great deal of time and talent into the committee, which is critical to our legislative advocacy efforts. Mimi has been an enthusiastic supporter and fundraiser for the PAC, with commitment to share the PAC’s mission and message with members and with her own teams.

MICK KROLL, AMWINS

Mick has served on the WSIA Education Committee for more than seven years and is a dedicated and trusted WSIA education program facilitator, volunteering his time to present at multiple WSIA programs each year. He is always willing and ready to welcome early career participants and can be counted on to bring new ideas and generously share his expertise with colleagues.

WSIA EDUCATION FOUNDATION THE WSIA EDUCATION FOUNDATION is dedicated to encouraging the educational development of all those interested in the excess and surplus lines business and to overcoming the misperceptions of the excess and surplus lines market.

During 2025, the WSIA Education Foundation invested $1.4 million in programs to encourage educational development of WSIA members and students interested in the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry, in addition to its ongoing support of the WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation. The WSIA Education Foundation ended fiscal year 2025 with $17 million in assets.

2025 investments included: TALENT OUTREACH INITIATIVES

MEMBER-FOCUSED EDUCATION INITIATIVES

• Scholarships totaling $275,833 to 103 students at more than 30 universities through the Derek Hughes Scholarship Program.

•$ 64,800 in registration fees, lodging and travel stipends to 28 WSIA members to participate in WSIA education programs.

• Administration of student-focused educational programs, symposiums, scholarships and grants to support and reward exceptional students who have an interest in an insurance career.

• Support of the 61 newly conferred Associate in Surplus Lines (ASLI) designees, bringing the total to 3,025 since 1997.

• Student-centered recruiting initiatives including: o Three student symposiums and career fairs for risk management and actuarial science students. o Sponsorships totaling $28,500 to 12 university risk management and insurance programs that increase awareness and visibility of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines market. o Grants totaling $41,500 to support college and university development of curriculum focused on the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines segment. o Financial partnership with Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) to facilitate growth in the talent pipeline for the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry by premiering WSIA, the WSIA Education Foundation, the WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation and WSIA member firms at GIS events and programs.

• Sponsorship of the 2025 AM Best Special Report – U.S. Surplus Lines Market Review, an important tool for the industry and WSIA members.

FOUNDATION was founded in 2020 as a 501 (c)(3)

• Presentations to 1,785 students through informational sessions promoting insurance career opportunities. o Talent Outreach and Internship Committee members presented at Fisk University, the Alpha Phi Alpha Regional Conference, the University of Southern California, Howard University and The University of Texas at San Antonio. They also participated in career fairs at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Development Summit for Historically Black Community Colleges, the USC Black Career Fair, Annual AMEND Summit in Los Angeles, the Black Student Athlete Summit in Chicago, the USC Student Athlete Career Fair and the Business Insurance Career Fair. o New partnerships with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and HBCU IMPACT contributed in part to a: + 149% increase in the number of students reached. + 75% increase in internship applications received for the Exploration track. o Students from Clark Atlanta University, the College of St. Scholastica, Fisk University and Lemoyne-Owen College attended WSIA symposiums in Atlanta and Chicago through grants provided by the Foundation.

The GIS Foundation’s mission is to ensure equitable access to careers in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science by lowering the social and financial barriers for all

charitable organization. Its founding came after the WSIA Board of Directors identified enhancing the talent pool for the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines segment as a strategic initiative in 2019, with financial support from WSIA member firms and individuals committed to bringing the initiative to the forefront. Since its launch in 2020, the Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation has received pledges and contributions totaling $4.9 million from WSIA member firms, individuals and the WSIA Education Foundation.

WSIA TALENT ADVOCACY AND ENGAGEMENT FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT The WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation was founded in 2020 to stimulate and attract a broad pipeline of talent for the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines insurance industry and to promote an Association and workplace cultures where all people have what they need to be successful in the industry.

The Foundation strives to: • provide education resources and programs designed to cultivate a culture for WSIA and its membership where all people feel supported and have what they need to succeed in the industry; • remove any barriers to enable all people to compete on a level paying field; and • foster synergy with similar initiatives among all industry participants.

• Sponsored the AKO Consulting – Black Women in the Insurance Industry Conference, and the Greater Kansas City NAAIA chapter’s membership event.

o 6,678 lessons were viewed on Blue Ocean Brain and 50% of learners fully completed lessons in the platform.

• Sent six bi-monthly culture resources e-Newsletters to all WSIA members with a 35% open rate.

• Increased LinkedIn followers to 1,030, a 22% increase over the prior year.

• Offered seven webinars to members including Emotional Intelligence, Neurodiversity: What It Is and What It Isn’t, Cultivating Inclusive Spaces, Disability Inclusion: Your Role in Disability Inclusion No Matter Your Title, Developing and Maintaining Workplace Relationship Through a Lens of Inclusion, Nonprofit Board Essentials, and Reducing the Stigma of Mental Health in the Workplace. Participation increased by 24% to 870 over 2024. o Recordings remain on the WSIA website to view on demand.

• Launched the new Professional Empowerment Series delivered to 25 individuals representing eight member firms. Topics include Managing Your Network, Being Your Authentic Self, Managing Your Brand, and Finding and Leveraging a Mentor. Each session was facilitated by an industry executive.

• Incorporated feedback from practitioners into intern information sessions to enhance their readiness for E&S career opportunities.

• Integrated inclusive leadership principles into U40 Connect and embedded content into Excess & Surplus Lines Program, Leading People & Teams, and Executive Leadership Summit.

• Expanded facilitation of complex/difficult inclusion conversation across the membership through a collaboration with CIAB (Counsel of Insurance Agents & Brokers).

• WSIA and the Foundation were named as the 2025 Leader in Disability Inclusion by the Center for Disability Inclusion honoring our commitment to accessible meetings, events, education programs, and educating WSIA members on accessible workplace culture.

WHOLESALE VALUE WSIA is committed to its members and to the wholesale distribution system.

In honoring that commitment, WSIA messages the value of the wholesale distribution system to the retail marketplace by incorporating the benefits into all internal and external communications and consistently linking the key attributes of WSIA member wholesalers to the WSIA message. Additionally, WSIA proactively cultivates relationships to leverage earned media placements promoting the wholesale distribution system.

During 2025, WSIA: • Hosted 186,125 user sessions on www.wsia.org, with 694,379 total pageviews.

• Invested $243,133 in the Wholesale Value messaging campaign in 2025, which generated 2.1 million paid advertising impressions.

• Delivered 114 WSIA newsletters and e-News updates to members, with an average open rate of 46%.

• Utilized LinkedIn to cross-promote WSIA News and events and provide members with an alternate way to learn and stay connected, tagging members whenever possible to improve engagement. o Ended the year with 17,694 LinkedIn followers, an increase of 17% over 2024.

FINANCIALS WSIA’s net assets reached $22.3 million at December 31, 2025, with operating revenue and expense growth of 5.6% and 12.2%, respectively, from 2024.

The most significant improvement in 2025 operating revenues was again driven by the association’s 2025 Annual Marketplace in San Diego, with a record 8,801 attendees, representing growth of 6% from our second-largest contingent of 8,322 attendees at the 2024 Annual Marketplace. Operating expense growth was also driven by growth in event attendance and additional resources bringing the WSIA staff team to 22 employees.

The association continued to invest in valuable committee work, networking events and education programs, regulatory and legislative advocacy, and important reforms for the industry, its communication campaign promoting the value of wholesale distribution, and the good work of the WSIA Education Foundation and WSIA Talent Advocacy & Engagement Foundation to develop a broad pipeline of talent for our industry. Two staff positions were added in 2025, including the Director & Counsel of Strategic Initiatives to support our partnership with the California Insurance Wholesalers Association (CIWA) and staff leadership to CIWA’s Legislative Committee, and an Executive Assistant. Furthering the association’s net revenue growth in 2025 was $2.7 million of investment income, including $1.3 million of unrealized gains in WSIA’s investment portfolio, consistent with market performance in 2025. WSIA’s net assets of $22.3 million at December 31, 2025, represent an operating reserve of 138% and places the association in a strong financial position.

The WSIA team and Board continue to carefully review and benchmark the association’s operating reserve to invest in events, programs and services whose value to members exceeds their annual membership dues. We also manage the reserve to maintain prudent financial strength for many years to come. WSIA’s financial statements and investment results are monitored by the Audit & Compliance Committee and were reviewed by independent auditors, CBIZ CPAs P.C. Their report included an unmodified audit opinion, no financial statement adjustments, and noted no weaknesses in WSIA’s internal control structure.
