SESSION RESERVATIONS

Lectures at PNDC 2026 can be reserved in advance for free. By reserving a lecture, you will be guaranteed entry for up to 15 minutes after the lecture’s scheduled start time, at which point entry to the lecture will become first-come, first-served to all attendees. Workshops can be reserved for an additional fee. Please make your free lecture reservations or paid workshop reservations when you register.

Volunteer as a Speaker Ambassador

Volunteer as a Speaker Ambassador to receive refunds on your registration plus free parking and meals. Speaker Ambassadors help facilitate the needs of speakers prior to and during the conference and help make the speaker feel at home while at PNDC. Speaker Ambassadors will be reimbursed for 25% of their registration cost for every 3 hours of session time they volunteer. Volunteer for 12 hours of session time to attend for free! WASHINGTON CE REQUIREMENTS

DENTISTS

Licensed Washington dentists must complete 63 hours of continuing education every three years.

• For Dentists Licensed Before 2019: Verification of completion of CE hours was due on the dentist’s annual license renewal date in 2022, and every three years thereafter.

• For Dentists Licensed 2019 or Later: The three-year CE reporting period begins upon date of licensure and is due every three years thereafter.

HYGIENISTS

Licensed Washington dental hygienists must complete 15 hours of continuing education per year.

Hygienists can complete an entire year of CE in just three days at PNDC!

ADDITIONAL CE REQUIREMENTS

PNDC 2026 offers CE sessions to meet several more specific continuing education requirements for Washington dentists, hygienists, and other members of the dental team.

Health Equity

Licensed Washington dentists and dental anesthesia assistants must complete two hours of health equity CE every three years. Licensed Washington dental hygienists must complete two hours of health equity CE every four years.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Dental staff providing direct patient care in an inoffice or outpatient setting must hold a current and valid healthcare provider basic life support (BLS) certification. Training must include both didactic and hand-on components. Certification is good for two years.

Joshua Austin, DDS

Joshua Austin, DDS maintains a full time restorative dentistry practice in San Antonio, Texas. He is an editorial director and monthly columnist for Dental Economics magazine focusing on dental products and technology. Dr. Austin lectures around the country and world to study clubs and dental meetings about these topics along with Ortho/Restorative Treatments and mental health. Dr. Austin is a graduate of the UT Health School of Dentistry and spent five years post graduation in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. In 2024, Dr. Austin won the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and Seattle Study Club “Case of the Year.”

Brittany Barber, MD, M.Sc., FRCSC

Dr. Barber graduated from the University of Alberta Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2016 and holds a Masters’ degree in Surgical Science and Practice from the University of Oxford. She completed her training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Barber is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington, where her practice is dedicated to surgery for patients with head and neck cancers, including those requiring advanced free flap reconstruction or robotic surgery. She is also the Fellowship Director for the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology & Microvascular Reconstruction Fellowship. Her research interests are dedicated to studying novel etiopathologies in oral cavity cancer, early-onset oral cavity cancer, and surgical quality metrics in head and neck cancer.

Jen Bennett

A native to Washington, Jen received her degree in Communications at Central Washington University. After college, she furthered her education and training at PIMA Medical Institute where she earned her certificate in Dental Assisting. She served the dental community as a CDA for over 16 years. Jen decided to advance her career by becoming

a Dental Practice Broker in 2016 and now has over 50 successful dental practice transitions under her belt. She is a valuable asset to the OMNI team.

Christina Blacher, DMD

Dr. Christina Blacher graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. She is in practice in Frisco, TX. She is most passionate about Invisalign and cosmetic treatments, and she has extensive training in the growing field of dentistry and stays up to date with the latest advances in dental technology. Dr. Blacher went from silver to a platinum Invisalign provider in 6 months and starts 130 Invisalign cases a year. She is a global faculty member for Align, keynote speaker for Align, and a fellow of the American Academy of Clear Aligners. Dr. Blacher is a mentor to other dental offices, successfully helping to integrate Invisalign into their practices, and she started an Instagram page @ queenofinvisalign to share her insights into Invisalign as a general dentist. She is also the founder of Christina Blacher Consulting which is an online education platform for general dentists. Dr. Blacher became a dentist to change lives, including the lives of other dentists. She prides herself on creating a positive professional community united to help one another.

Timothy Caruso, PT, MBA, MS, CERT.MDT, CEAS

Timothy J. Caruso has been a practicing Physical Therapist for over 35 years, focusing his expertise in the area of manual therapy, orthopedics & ergonomics. He continues with direct patient care at Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin Illinois as well as Community Physical Therapy in Addison Illinois. Tim has worked extensively with the dental profession since 1988 in the areas of ergonomics, injury prevention, productivity, exercise & wellness. He balances his professional career between pediatric & adult populations with orthopedic conditions. He is president & co-founder of the Kids Equipment Network Children’s NFP which has provided over 3500 children with special needs adaptive equipment at no cost for over 20 years. He was member of the American Dental Association Dental Wellness Advisory Committee for over 15 years. He is a member of the FDI Health and Safety in the Dental Workplace Task Team.

Chandrashekhar, BDS, MDS (OMFS), MDSc, DABOP,

DABDSM

Dr. Hemamalini Chandrashekhar, MDS, MDSc, Dipl. ABOP, ABDSM. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon | American Board-Certified in Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Hemamalini Chandrashekhar is an internationally trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with board certifications in Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. She completed her advanced residency in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine under Dr. Gary Heir and a fellowship in Orofacial Pain at UCLA School of Dentistry. As the Founder and Director of Advanced TMJ Maxillofacial Pain & Sleep Center in Seattle, WA, Dr. Chandrashekhar integrates oral surgery principles with pain medicine and sleep medicine to provide comprehensive, non-surgical and minimally-invasive management of TMJ disorders, complex orofacial pain, headaches, neuropathic facial pain, and sleep-disordered breathing. With over 15 years of international clinical and academic experience, including as Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Mumbai, she has also contributed to research at Rutgers and UCLA on TMD outcomes, oral sleep appliance therapy, and non-invasive pain management. Dr. Chandrashekhar is an active member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), and American Headache Society (AHS), and lectures nationally and internationally on the intersection of oral surgery, pain medicine, and sleep.

Yen-Wei Chen, DDS, MSD

Dr. Yen-Wei Chen received his DDS degree from Taipei Medical University in 1998 and his MSD degree and Certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Washington in 2008. He is an Associate Professor and the Director of Preclinical Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Chen’s research and clinical interests focus on all-ceramic restorations and the integration of digital technologies into restorative and implant dentistry. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally on these topics. He has also

received several teaching honors, including the Rothwell Distinguished Teaching Award, the School of Dentistry’s highest recognition for innovation in education. In addition to his academic and research activities, Dr. Chen maintains a part-time private practice limited to prosthodontics in Shoreline, Washington.

David Clark, DDS

Dr. Clark is director of Bioclear Learning Centers International. He founded the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, creates curriculum for dental schools, and has lectured in twenty-seven countries. He developed the Bioclear Matrix System for placement of biologically appropriate, esthetically pleasing direct composite restorations for facilitating Injection Molding of the Clark Class I and Class II preparations, diastema closure and black triangle elimination combined with papilla regeneration. He is actively collaborating with schools to move beyond the tragically outdated GV Black cavity preparations. The Clark Class I and Clark Class II preparations and injection molded restorations (nonretentive, compression based and infinity edge margins) have been confirmed in multiple studies. He owns several patents. He and Dr. John Khademi are acknowledged as fathers of Minimally Invasive Endodontics, which at first was rejected by most North American endodontists but is now being embraced by the mainstream. He published the first classification system for dentin and enamel cracks based on sixteen power magnification. He has conducted studies on cracked teeth. He has designed numerous instruments, burs, wedges, matrices, separators, and equipment and has written chapters for both esthetic dentistry and endodontic textbooks. Dr. Clark is a 1986 graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry.

Jacqueline Clarke, JD

Jacqueline Clarke received her BA in Literature and Film from Kalamazoo College in 2010, and her Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2013. She is admitted to practice law in both the Michigan and Illinois state courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. Before joining MedPro Group, she worked as a litigation attorney at Smith, Haughey, Rice & Roegge in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There, she specialized in the defense of hospitals, healthcare facilities, physicians, nurses, and dentists in all stages of the licensing, claims,

and litigation processes. She also provided risk management consultative services to a number of institutional clients, including the University of Michigan Health System, Spectrum Health, and Beaumont Health. Jacqueline joined MedPro in 2018 and helped our dental division achieve a trial win rate of 95% and a closed without payment rate over 80%. Jacqueline’s responsibilities include developing and delivering risk management and patient safety services to MedProinsured dentists, students/residents, and national dental organizations. Jacqueline also serves in a business development role by providing educational seminars on risk reduction and proactive risk management to prospective clients, distribution partners and dental students and residents.

Art Cole, Paramedic

Art Cole Teaching Group has over one hundred years of experience working in the fire service and teaching. The instructors are active and retired firefighters and paramedics. Art Cole has been involved teaching locally, nationally and internationally for groups and foreign governments. You will walk away able to handle emergencies through his teaching style.

He has conducted extensive research in peri-implantitis and periodontal plastic surgery, and served as a reviewer for several top-tier international journals. MIna Fahmy, DDS, MS, Dip ABOMS

Dr. Mina D. Fahmy is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Alberta and continued his training by earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Summa Cum Laude from Marquette University in 2018. Dr. Fahmy was then selected to complete Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. His passion for education and advancement of the field has led him to conduct numerous scientific studies and publish over 40 peer reviewed articles and textbook chapters. His interest in the nutrition of his patients before and after surgery prompted him to obtain a Master of Science degree in Medical Nutrition. He has lectured across the country on a number of topics including nutrition optimization, 3D bio-printing, pathology, and tissue engineering. During his extensive surgical training, Dr. Fahmy has become proficient in areas of advanced dental implants, full arch reconstruction, wisdom teeth removal, infections, head and neck oncology/pathology, facial trauma, jaw correction surgery, facial cosmetics, and nerve repair. He has also received substantial training in both office based and general hospital anesthesia. Currently he is practicing full scope, pain free Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Kathy Forbes, RDH, BS, FADHA

Kathy has been a dental hygienist, educator, speaker, author, consultant, seminar, and study club leader for over 45 years. She speaks frequently about the correct classification, documentation, treatment planning, and CDT procedure code selection for services provided by dental hygienists and has been called The Dental Hygiene Coding Coach. She has authored articles published in RDH Magazine, RDH eVIllage, Dentistry Today, Dentistry IQ and others specifically addressing dental hygiene treatment planning and correct CDT procedure code selection. Her national engagements include presentations to the American Dental Association’s Annual Meeting, ADHA Center for Lifelong Learning, RDH Under One Roof, the Pacific Northwest Dental Conference and Beyond Oral Health. For over 25 years, her faculty appointments have included the Dental Hygiene Program at Concorde Career College in Aurora, CO, the Dental Hygiene Programs at Pierce College in Tacoma, WA and Shoreline Community College in Seattle, WA. Through the University of Washington’s Continuing Dental Education Program as well as the Pacific Northwest Dental Hygiene Institute, she has taught local anesthesia and restorative procedures for out-of-state hygienists seeking licensure in Washington state and the Teaching Practicum Series for Eastern Washington University’s Degree Completion program for licensed dental hygienists seeking their Baccalaureate Degree. She has recently been appointed to chair the ADHA Coding Committee after serving as a Director for the DentalCodeology Consortium in reviewing and developing CDT procedure codes relevant to dental hygiene practice which are presented to the Code Maintenance Committee of the American Dental Association each year. She has attended these hearings since 2017, providing verbal testimony and answering questions related to procedure code submissions.

Thomas Gessel, DMD

Tacoma native Dr. Gessel earned a degree in business management from BYU, a DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and his specialty certificate in orthodontics from the University of Louisville. He started a de novo practice in his home town in 2014. He added a second location in Puyallup in 2024. He has been married to his sweetheart, Emily, since 2011, and has two sons, Miles (10), and Bennett (7).

Brian Goodacre, DDS, MSD

Dr. Brian J. Goodacre received his DDS degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2013. He completed a four-and-a-half-year combined program in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2017, earning an MSD degree. He is a board-certified prosthodontist and the director of clinical technologies for Nobel Biocare North America. He is an adjunct professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry providing lectures to both dental and graduate students. Leroy Horton, DDS, MS, DICOI

Orginally born and raised in Glyfada Greece, Dr. LeRoy Horton and his family relocated to the Pacific Northwest as a teenager. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University in 2003 then attained his DDS degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2007. Having always been fascinated with dental implants, Dr. Horton pursued advanced training over the years attaining fellowships and completing Master’s courses. Eventually he earned his board certification in Implantology as a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. After practicing for 14 years he sold his offices and decided start a new chapter in academia and research. Waji Khan, BSc, DDS, MBA, MEd

Dr. Waji Khan graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 2001. He began his career as a dental officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving from 1998 to 2007, where he gained invaluable experience through mentorship with specialists and advanced training. After active duty, he transitioned to the Army Reserves and co-founded a dental practice with his wife, Dr. Sohela Vaid. Alexander Lee, DMD

Dr. Alexander Lee is a General Dentist, Professor, and Assistant Dean for Dental Informatics at Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine (CDM). Nai-Hsuan Liao, DDS, MS

Dr. Nai-Hsuan Liao earned her DDS degree from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and completed a General Practice Residency at Taipei Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan. She pursued her specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Michigan, where she received her Master of Science degree and Certificate in Endodontics in 2025. Her research in regenerative endodontics earned her a Resident Award at the American Association of Endodontists Annual Meeting. Gigi Meinecke, DMD

Gigi Meinecke, RN, DMD, FAGD has over 20 years of experience in facial injectables and cadaveric prosection, and maintains a private practice limited to facial injectables. She is the founder of FACES Education, a nationally recognized educational organization emphasizing anatomy and evidence-based protocols. Dr. Meinecke developed the pre-doctoral facial injectables curriculum at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine where she serves as faculty. Kanako Nagatomo, DDS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Kanako J. Nagatomo received her DDS degree from Niigata University School of Dentistry in 2002 and her PhD in Periodontics from Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2006. From 2006 to 2010,

she served as a post-doctoral research fellow in Dr. Martha Somerman’s laboratory in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington. She subsequently completed her specialty training in periodontology, earning a Certificate in Periodontics and an MSD degree from the University of Washington in 2013. Dr. Nagatomo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is board certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery. Renata Nehme, RDH, BSDH, COM®

Renata Nehme, RDH, BSDH, COM®, is a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist with a strong background in dental hygiene and a special focus on Myofunctional Therapy. She earned her Associate’s Degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia, and went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at Georgia Highlands University. Dr. Nový is the Chief Dental Officer of the Alliance Dental Center in Quincy, Massachusetts. He served on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs from 2010-2014, and in 2016 was appointed the consumer representative to the United States Food & Drug Administration Dental Products Panel. He is the recipient of the California Dental Association Foundation Dugoni Award, the Academy of General Dentistry Weclew Award, the ADA Adult Preventive Care Practice of the Year, and the ADA Evidence Based Dentistry Practice Award.

Avina Paranjpe, BDS, MS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Avina Paranjpe graduated with her BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree from the Mumbai University, India in 2000. She was in private practice in Mumbai, India from 2000-2002 after which she obtained her Master’s degree (MS) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Oral Biology, Immunology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Dr. Paranjpe earned her Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Washington Graduate Endodontics Program in August 2009 after which she joined the faculty at the University of Washington, School of Dentistry as Assistant Professor. She was promoted to Professor with tenure in 2020 and is the current Program Director in Endodontics at the school. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and the immediate past ABE President. Dr. Paranjpe is involved in several ongoing research projects related to dental materials and regenerative Endodontics. She has numerous publications in the area of pulpal regeneration

and revascularization, immunology, and compatibility of biomaterials. She has won multiple teaching awards including: 1) Edward M. Osetek Educator Award 2019: Recognized for outstanding status as an educator in North America by the American Association of Endodontists. She was recently inducted as a Fellow to the American College of Dentists (ACD) for contributions to the profession, community, and research.

Cameron Randall, PhD

Cameron L. Randall, PhD, is a clinical health psychologist and Assistant Professor of Oral Health Sciences at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (UWSOD) in Seattle. Broadly, his work applies behavioral science to improve oral health and the practice of dentistry. His NIH-funded research focuses on pain, dental fear, health behavior, and providers’ implementation of evidence-based practice. He has published more than 60 journal

articles and book chapters on these topics, and his scholarly work has been recognized with awards from the NIH, the International Association for Dental Research, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Randall also researches and speaks nationally and internationally on topics related to dental workforce well-being, serves as Director of Institutional Culture at UWSOD, and serves on numerous groups addressing dental student and dental professional wellness, including a Washington State Dental Association taskforce. Other service includes leadership positions in the International Association for Dental Research and membership on the editorial boards for Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology and JDR Clinical and Translational Research. Dr. Randall was a lead author on the Consensus Statement on Future Directions for the Behavioral and Social Sciences in Oral Health, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry workgroup that developed clinical practice guidelines for nonpharmacological behavior guidance, and a contributor for the NIH report, Oral Health in America. As Director of Behavioral Science at UWSOD, he teaches in the predoctoral and resident curricula. Dr. Randall completed his undergraduate studies (BS) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his graduate studies (MS, PhD) at West Virginia University, and his clinical psychology internship training at the University of Washington, where he was a resident in behavioral medicine and neuropsychology.

Rota, Spain. The Navy sponsored his return to the University of Washington in 2004 for his orthodontic residency, after which he became the Orthodontic Department Chair at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD. In 2010, Dr. Winkler separated from active service and joined Dr. Peter Shapiro as a partner in private practice in Seattle, WA. Michael Wiseman, DDS, M RCS(Edin)

Dr. Michael Wiseman is a 1985 McGill graduate. He is a Diplomate of the Special Care Dental Association, and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in Special Needs Dentistry.
