"The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead–lined room with armed guards."(Spafford). The word privacy has become a buzz word in the current decade compared to how it used to be talked about in the last decade. As we all are aware of the recent happenings around the world with regards toprivacy, we all should be worried that nothing is safe in the times we are living in, as every bit of information is getting snatched somehow or the other through different channels. This information can be something that is related to our personal, family or professional life. I believe that individual privacy outweighs money or anything at this moment in the world right now. If we lose money or property, we can regain it somehow, but if we lose our personal information to someone or an agency, it's challenging to get it back before it gets misused.
Danial J. Solove is an eminent author and a law professor at University of George Washington law school. Dr. Solove introduces the article why privacy matters if you have "Nothing to Hide" in an interesting way that, In his introduction of the eassy, he puts a valid question to the audience regarding their current privacy standards. He starts off this article by presenting the views of various people on the most debated topic around the world at present which is "Nothing to Hide." All throughout the article, Solove tries to make an argument both in a positive and negative tone. He also supports his arguments with so many valid examples that, it makes you wonder, which side of the coin he stands. Firstly, after seeing the collective inferences made by the people in the initial paragraphs of the article, Solove explains us in which form should we look at the argument "Nothing to Hide." If we extremely see the argument, for example, If a person says he has nothing to hide, another person comes and means, since you have nothing to hide can I take a nude picture of yours and show it to everyone which is an extreme form of taking that argument. Dr.Solove feels that taking an argument in an exaggerated form isn'ta good thing because
Today's society has advanced so this past decade. So much to the point we use it at a daily basis. Technology does have it's perks, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology has its advantages in many ways and I know firsthand how powerful and convenient today's technology is. Without it, I would have a lot of trouble getting through my day. I would not be able to get a hold of someone as easy without my blackberry. I am constantly text messaging on it. So much to the point that I trip over stuff while I am walking due to reading a long text. My blackberry is basically my life. It is great to know that if I ever get stranded in the middle of a desert on my way to California, I have roadside assistance on my phone to save me. I...show more content...
Life is more simple with these wonderful devices, but we are becoming too lazy to pick up a book and learn things on our own. I feel like I and many of my classmates barley open a book for class, instead we use the internet for everything. This is becoming a serious issue. I feel that we are not expanding our minds like we used to back when technology was not as advanced. I remember back in middle school were the internet was available, but I did not let it take up time in my day. I found myself being more productive with my life back then. Now, I probably spent a fourth of my day using the internet, which is not necessary at all. With so much power to discover new things without even thinking makes me wonder what will happen to our next generation as technology advances. Are we headed for a world where everything is technology driven and devoid of what makes us human? I look at today's society and I feel that it is really getting to that point. It is almost as if we are turning into robots. We are divorcing ourselves from regular human activities. `We are now getting to the point where we are programmed to use technology at a daily basis. My generation needs to realize that there are many other types of activities that give us greater satisfaction than anything that is offered online. Instead of spending two to three hours text messaging a friend, social networking and checking listings on Ebay, we should really take a visit to a local

Global warming, we see it as sad polar bears hopelessly swimming for their lives in the ocean. It's shown as rising sea levels that can washout entire cities. It even sometimes gets turned into politics but scientifically, what is the definition of global warming? It is the heating up the of Earth, caused by infrared radiation that gets stuck in our atmosphere because of the increase of CO2 put into the atmosphere. Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation that cannot be seen by the human eye, but we feel it as heat. Seems pretty logical doesn't it? To some it doesn't seem as reasonable. Some believe global warming isn't a man made problem, but just a cycle of 'weather patterns'. For example, our now president
–Donald J. Trump– doesn't consider climate change to a threat to the inhabitants of earth. Our president also said that global warming is a 'hoax'.
"Snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record setting freezing temperatures throughout the country and beyond. Global warming is an expensive hoax!"
–Donald J. Trump

This is what many people believe, and this tweet too seems pretty logical to a majority of people. But in 2014 January 29th when Donald J. Trump posted this tweet, there was record setting freezing temperatures happening nation and worldwide. But also 2014 was one of the top three hottest years on record. Now that doesn't seem like a 'hoax'.
Humans don't like being wrong. It's embarrassing, uncomfortable to believe something and then be confronted about it. So that's why there's still high percentage of people who don't believe in the change in climate. People who work with oil companies don't want to acknowledge it because it can ruin their business. Politicians ignore the problem because it costs money to fix our past mistakes. That fear, people being scared, it makes us shut down. But we can try ignoring the problem, but the thing about problems is, they can be ignored but they never truly disappear. Weather may feel the same as every other year, but The whole world is heating up, including our vast oceans. Tropical hurricanes need to have surface water temperatures to be 26В°C or more for them to form. As our oceans get hotter hurricanes are able to form farther out in the sea
The Crucible: (Argument Essay) There's has been people who either have been manipulated and then there's people that have manipulated people. Being experienced with situation can make it easy for one to manipulate anyone. For example in "The Crucible" it demonstrates how one young child can manipulate everyone from children to an adult into believing her vengeance story. With the right situation experience one can manipulate with ease, but it shouldn't be easy for one to manipulate half of the people in the town. In the story "The Crucible" Abigail and her cousin are accused of being witches. IN act one it states "We did dance, uncle, and when you leaped out of the bush so suddenly, Betty was frightened and then she fainted. And there's the whole of it" (Abigail Page 1). They got caught dancing and doing things they were forbidden to do. Since that day the entire town thinks of then as witches. That being said Abigail tries to make things right. Additionally in act one Abigail states "let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word about a thing or I will came to you in the black of some terrible night" (Page 19). From there forward Abigail started to accuse Tituba. Tituba then confessed "He say Mr. Parris must be killed! And No! I don't hate that man. I don't want to kill that man". But he says, "You work for me, Tituba, and I make you free!"(Page 44).This confession and accession give's Abigail and Betty a chance to act Innocent and accuse random people as well. The accession keep coming and keep adding up. At the beginning of act one there were only 12 people accused, now there are 55 people who are going to be questioned. In act two Mary tells Elizabeth "I made a gift for you today, Goody Proctor. I had to sit long hours in a chair, and passed the time with sewing" (Page 53). Then when Mary hands the poppet she went to bed, and hale comes to talk to them. While hale was taking Cheever come to take Elizabeth. He then finds the poppet and ask questions about it. Cheever then explains "Abigail William, sir she sat to dinner in reverend Parris's house tonight, and without word nor warin' she falls to the floor" he said "And he goes to save her and, stuck two inches in the flesh of her belly, he draw

Electoral College
Despite the Electoral College system being founded by the founding fathers in America and being there as long as the Constitution exists, many people still do not have sufficient knowledge on how it works. The Electoral College does not provide honest presidential elections rather it has the potential to undo the will of people at any point from the selection of electors to the vote tallying in Congress (Shaw, 3). Electoral College in the United States has played a major role in depressing the voter's turnout. Every State is given an equal number of electoral votes despite the population and in turn, the system has put in place no measure to encourage the voters to take part in the elections. Besides, the system distorts ...show more content...
The system is obsolete owing to the new methods of research and becoming aware of issues as well as faster sharing of information for the Americans to know any presidential candidate. Besides, United States of America has witnessed growth almost in every aspect of life and has shown the ability to handle new developments articulating the strength of the country to establish and manage a new electoral system. The reality that most of the states do not have laws requiring electors to vote according to the will of their state, the electors are unbound thus the system create the possibility of rogue electors. Also, the system presents a situation where the presidentialelection winner is determined by the House of Representatives causing disenfranchising a significant number of voters.
Another problem surrounding the Electoral College system is that it allows one–party states, states that almost always go to one party. In this context, a Democrat who casts a vote in a mostly Republican state feels that his vote is wasted because of no way that state will be won by a Democrat. Besides, the system is based on two–party elections, the Democrat and the Republican leaving Americans with two candidates to choose (Belenky, 364). The voters end up picking the candidate with fewer issues rather than the one they support. In my opinion, people feel that Electoral College has single–handedly defeated
In order to have a good argumentative essay, there are a few important standards of critical thinking that is needed to be found in the essay such as the clearness, accuracy, importance or relevance, sufficiency, depth, breath and precision that is stated by Nosich. The strength of this argumentative essay is consider weak because it does not capture the interest of the reader and was not persuasive enough; even though from the introduction of the argumentative essay includes full sentences and a good opinion, the argumentative essay is all objective. The introduction includes too much of the emotional appeals, such as when it wrote " Day after day the number of people worshipping this icon has been growing since the birth of this creature. well to many it may seem harmless idol but in my opinion, Mickey Mouse is an 'devil in disguise' influencing the minds of young and old people to adopt the culture of the 'devil' which doesn't blend will with the moral values of society and should be banned". To improve the introduction, the writer should include of all objectives statements relative facts and appeals to the mind of people who agree or disagree with the topic.
Most people believe that social messaging is more of a benefit than a consequence, but using social media can actually be harmful. Social media is something most kids, teens, and even some adults are using all the time. It has become a part of our generation's lives. Having people on their phones all day long is not only disappointing, but also damaging. Instead of talking to someone face–to–face and hanging out, people prefer just texting or going on a social network. For some people understanding a life without social media is near impossible. Using social media can have some adverse effects such as: it causes cyberbullying, it can compromise education, and it could have an effect on social skills. To begin with there are many...show more content...
Cyberbullies have used this to their advantages by threatening people anonymously by calling them names or by sometimes by telling them to not show up at school, or to die and kill themselves. (Shah 1–2). This type of behavior is unacceptable because by bullies being able to go undercover people who might have been afraid to say something can now do so being without having to worry about being discovered. Social media is the key to all of these bullies, without the use of social media most of these bullies wouldn't even bother anybody. They would realize that they will most likely get caught or get into a fight. Most people are too afraid to do this. A second factor, social media could also have a huge effect on education. The use of social networks such as facebook and twitter are very well known, especially by most college students. David Gewirtz realized that some of the people who see a personal social media website could be a friend, potential employer, and even a stranger. Gewirtz warned most students to monitor what they are posting online. He says " You could be a teenager today who is 15 and say inappropriate things, and then as an adult looking for a job as a CEO." He is sending people a warning to monitor what they post because what is on that website might potentially ruin a chance of employment. (Michelle 1–2). College

Immigration has been a burning issue lately, particularly after Donald Trump's immigration ban in the United States of America. It has been a topic that families discuss every morning with breakfast. Despite many concerns related to immigration, it has several positive benefits that mostly outweighs the negativity. People bizarrely argue when it comes to immigration, but these arguments are primarily based on facts and ideas that are outdated or inconsistent and blindfold the positive aspect related to immigration. Many immigrants in the United States are good workers who don't depend upon any public welfare and mostly help in the overall development of the economy. As a country made by immigrants, we must not forget the fact that immigrants have helped to build cities and create a path of development form Google to iPhones (Gray & Furman, 2012). These facts are secluded, and some related arguments with different content have been repeated for years and continue. Immigrants have a lot to give the United States rather than to take, especially when it comes to economic terms.
Immigration has been an essential but disruptive aspect of the people and the political state of the United States; however, debates related to immigration and its benefits are intensified significantly. Opposing immigration keeps ranting on how government should exercise better law to control over the people entering into the States from the foreign land. One of the most buzzed argument is that American citizen is unemployed because immigrants stole their jobs and disrupted the economy (Hoban, 2017). Also, an appeal to National security and vulnerability after several terrorist attacks all over the world and also to the government to keep track and maintain the no. of immigrants to create a safer environment (Cafaro, 2009). However, the contrary to these arguments have often been proven right. The pattern of the immigration shows that the contribution of the immigrants has resulted in an economic boost that cannot be overlooked by the government. Most of the immigrants leave their home country and migrate to the United States because they can live in freedom, practice their religion and make the most out of their life (Arizaga 2006).

Sarah Arms Professor Hawk English Comp II 15 April, 2013 The Positive Effect of Social Media Since the birth of social media people have argued whether it has a positive or negative effect on society. Social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram give people a chance to stay connected. Although, with the power of social media comes the possibility of cyber bullying. While there are some negatives associated with social media, the positives in communication all around, has made the world stronger and a better place to live in. Social networking can benefit businesses greatly. These sites allow businesses to advertise and market services to a large audience, and since a profile is free to set up, the advertisement is...show more content...
Social media also allowed students to work with new technologies. Because of this students are becoming more familiar with computers and other electronic devices. (Dunn) However, there are some negative effects that come with social media. Research has shown that social networking sites can be very addictive. People who use social networking sites for their daily communication are hooked to a point that they neglect health responsibilities, especially their diet. The addictive nature of social media can lead to eating disorders, obesity, heart problems, sleep disorders, and other pertinent health issues. ("Social Networking: Advantages vs. Addictions.") Another downside to social media is that the user could share too much information which may pose threats to them. (Ali, Imtiaz) People using social media need to know the risks that come with social networking. Users can help protect themselves by not sharing personal information with others they do not know and by having their social networking profiles on a private setting. Social media has both positive and negative effects. However, I feel as though the positive outweigh the negative. So many people benefit from social media including businesses, students, and distant friends. Although, when not used intelligently social media can be a destructive thing. Social media users should know the risks of social media and educate themselves. Overall social media is a positive thing that has made
