S ale Day Information Video Sale: This sale is a video sale. The bulls and females will sell by video and will not enter a sale ring. We welcome you to view the sale offering at the farm prior to sale day or morning of sale. Viewing: Bred heifers will be sorted and penned for viewing after December 1st. We invite you to the farm for viewing of the offering prior to sale day. We formally invite you to our presale open house at the Farm December 16th – 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm December 17th – 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm The sale offering will also be available for viewing at the farm on sale day morning. Semen Rights: Diamond R Stock Farm retains in-herd semen interest on all bulls sold in the sale. All coming yearling bulls will be semen tested by April 1st. Preg Checking: All bred heifers featured in the sale have been pregnancy checked on September 27th, 2023. WE LCOME from Diamond R Well, it has been a long time a-coming. We have been working at this for 31 years together. This has been a goal, to provide some great commercial bred females for you to appraise! To introduce ourselves, we are Diamond R Stock Farms – Brad, Jayne and our kids, Larissa and Cade Rutten. It all started in 1992 and there has been lots of bumps along the road, but today, we stand here pretty proud of what we have accomplished out in the pens. Brad is a 2nd generation Charolais breeder, Jayne is a 4th generation Black Angus breeder, Larissa is a 5th generation Angus breeder with a love for all cattle. Larissa’s WKL prefix is very evident here in the bull portion. Cade… well he is Mr. Fix It! Cade’s love isn’t the cows, but the equipment he fixes sure helps a lot on the farm. We would like to congratulate all fellow producers; we have been waiting for these higher prices for a long time. The cull market has never been higher, and it may be the time to cash in those older females and herdbulls that look at you funny. Come in December for the sale, before life gets hectic with calving, long chores and the rush before seeding. Onto the offering. We are asking our past bull customers to consider coming a bit earlier to see the bull pen. The bulls on offer, whether they be the two-year olds or yearlings, are the same standard as they have always been. The two-year olds are exceptional and the coming yearlings are of the same copy. No matter the breed, we have worked on bringing consistency and a “type” of what we would like to see in a bull. We hope you see it too. We have always joked that we truly are the “Walmart” of the bull pens! The females are a testament of what we have been working for! We have always strived for consistency in frame size, colour and udder quality. Calving ease is super important here! As you may notice, the heifers all bear an RFID tag with either a green back or a blue back. We hope this is a help to you, so you know that they are either Angus sired or Simmental sired. No genetic surprises here! The bulls they are exposed to have been through the test last year and passed with flying colors. All heifers offered with the exception of three were bred, born and raised here. Please accept this as your invitation to join us on December 18th, 2:00 p.m. at the Wawota Drop In Center for a video sale. We have had a change in venue as things didn’t quite work out as planned. We also will be having an Open House for the two days prior to the sale to view all lots. Of course, you are invited to come to the farm to view the offering when it suits your scheduling. Welcome to Diamond R Stock Farm’s 1st Annual Select Bull & Female Sale. Although it may be the first annual sale, the Rutten family is no stranger to the industry and marketing their bulls and females. They have successfully, year after year, marketed and sold their bulls private treaty off the farm and consigned females to select sales all over Western Canada. They have built a customer base, with many being repeat customers, who can attest to the quality of the Diamond R program. This year, Brad and Jayne made the decision to move to a new sale format, a video sale, where the bulls and select Commercial bred heifers will be sold on the same day. Change is inevitable as programs progress forward, and the advantage of having their offering on one sale day appealed to them as their kids are growing up and leaving the nest, and roles and workloads change on the farm. The thing that you can guarantee that hasn’t changed is the quality of the offering. It may be a December sale, but the caliber of the quality of the offering has not changed. There are truly “Females that you can build on, Bulls you can bank on!” In the bull sale portion of the sale, you will find bulls representing three breeds that will cater to whatever you are looking for to add to your bull battery. The Charolais to add those performance and pounds to give you those very marketable Charcross calves, to the Simmentals that will give you performance with a high level of maternal focus, or the Angus that will give you that calving ease and those herd building daughters, this sale has it all. The Commercial bred heifers in the sale will sell in consistently assembled packages of 2 or 3 and are the elite end females of the Diamond R commercial program. None of their commercial bred heifers have been retained! Many of these females are sired by their purebred herd bull battery and bred back to purebred calving ease bulls. Whether you are new to the cattle industry or a seasoned veteran, these bulls and females would add value to anyone’s bottom line. Reference Sires Gomez has been a welcome addition to the bull battery here at Diamond R. Together with Dusty Rose Cattle, we purchased some embryos at New Year’s Resolution. Being a Natural Law out of the famous Werner Black Angel cow was exciting. In watching the calf over the summer, we knew he was a piece that we could utilize heavily. He sires beautifully designed females and his bulls are pretty alright too. Performance is his name of the game. He was well received in the fall of 2019, being slapped the Senior Bull Calf Champion at Brandon Ag Ex. He was popular at Agribition in the Bull Pen Alley as well. Gomez has been used in our purebred herd and the kids have used him on their commercial females with great success. Contact us for available semen! WKJ Dusty’s Gomez 4G ZSL Tillman was the high selling bull at Spring Lake Bull Sale. We acquired the shared walking rights, and he has done an exceptional job. We love the foot on this bull, and he is pretty easy to be around. We have bred him to our papered cows and also a handful of commercial cows. Those Tillman steers were well received at the Auction Mart. Look at his bulls, but also take a look in the bred heifers, because there is a handful of commercial bred heifers sired by him as well. If we didn’t have more calves on the way sired by Tillman, those heifers would be offered today! We had the pleasure of seeing his mother this spring and what a powerful cow she is. She looks exactly what we are striving for.

ZSL Mr Tillman 127H HVA Delco 2622J was purchased for his Duty-Free pedigree that was the complete phenotype. Delco was the high seller that day at Palmer’s Bull Sale. He calves easy the calves have lots of grow and great hair. We look forward to incorporating his daughters into the herd.

The cow family that started it all. In 2015 I was lucky enough to be drawn for a $3,000 heifer voucher to be put towards the purchase of an angus female at CJA Showdown in Olds, Alberta. I had fallen in love with a bred heifer of my grandparents, Bob & Margaret Easton of Kenosee Park Angus. Kenosee Park Lassie 2B has been an amazing little cow. She consistently produces for me. Her females are becoming the majority of my small herd, along with her bull calves selling top of the pen. Lariat is one I am tremendously proud of. He is smaller in frame size but makes up for it in length and thickness. He’s a tank!

I purchased his dam from KCH Cattle Co. in the Keystone Sale in 2022. She did an exceptional job of him. He comes with an outstanding pedigree, including some of the breed’s most renowned sires such as Firebrand, Angus Valley, Triumph, and Banknote. Heifer recommended.

Red DKF Racer 39H a.k.a. GITCH, was purchased after attending a Saskatchewan Angus Tour in the summer of 2019. We were so impressed that day with the display at DKF Angus that we knew our next heifer bull was coming from there. This bull is as phenotypically correct as you can make them. A bonus was to see Final Answer in the pedigree, making his females the keeper kind! He is very easy to work with which is a must here. He calved out heifers very successfully the last 2 calving seasons and the best part is, they grow!

WKJ Jeter 4J was an in-dam purchase from Edwards Angus. He boasts a 74 lb birth weight, but man, did he grow! He is a son of the popular Musgravee 316 Colossal 137. His dam, 392G, has hit it out of the park every year so far. Her udder is fabulous!! Just take a look at the Jeter calves on offer in the bull section of the catalogue. We think a lot of this bull. He bred all of our purebred Black Angus keeper heifers and ran with a few commercials before being mixed with the bigger group of heifers. He is co-owned with Leaning Spruce Stock Farms.

Bred Heifer Information We are very proud of this set of bred heifers we have on offer. We take a lot of time and effort in selection of herd sires. We truly try to select for high maternal traits no matter the breed. As we don’t use A.I. a whole bunch, when we purchase a bull, he gets used and if his daughters meet our criteria… he gets used a lot! These females are a representation of our commercial herd base. We believe in hybrid vigour and we believe in the Sim/Angus cow, she has paid a lot of bill here. Our belief is the red cow is the most flexible cow out there. You can breed her Red, Black or White and get a calf that is marketable. Terms & Conditions TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale. Settlement is in Canadian funds. The right of the property shall not pass until settlement is paid in full. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Current exchange rates will be announced on sale day.

BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received prior to the sale, in a sufficient time frame. DISPUTES: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. ANNOUNCEMENTS: All announcements made from the auction block on sale day will take precedence over the printed material. Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected from the auction stand at sale time and such correction will take precedence over printed material in the catalogue. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. BREEDER’S GUARANTEE: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove that the bull is a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from bull will freeze. Females are sold as bred females. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association, Canadian Angus Association or Canadian Simmental Association if they are a purebred, registered animal. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. INSURANCE: Insurance will be available for purchase on sale day. DELIVERY: Assistance will be given with making delivery arrangements after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither Wawota Drop-In Center, Diamond R Stock Farm, the auctioneer, sale staff or Wright Livestock Marketing sale management assumes no responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.
