EDUCATION RESEARCH
In total, there were 14 interns from various universities across Indonesia assisting with the workload between January and April. Some of them are from the Bogor Agricultural University, Airlangga University, and Brawijaya University. In addition to the internship, we had a total of 87 elementary students from two different schools in Kulon Progo come to learn about wildlife conservation from our staff. Furthermore, our veterinarian also gave a talk through Live Instagram which was held by @ruangmemberi last February with the title, “LoveForFauna”.

Finally, the binturong genetic research is nearly complete. Our team is still doing some finishing steps, plus preparing for the publication work. We also plan to further expand the research to generate a more practical aspect in identifying the origin of the binturong.
In the meantime, we are also preparing for the research aspect of the Malayan Giant Turtle conservation program. We intend to reveal information about this elusive reptile species through findings of their health parameters, as well as investigating the suitable environment aspect for improving their aquatic environment.
Turtle Husbandry Workshop

In conjunction with the kick-off of the Malayan Giant Turtle conservation project, we organized a workshop to increase capacity and understanding of the project's member organization regarding the turtles' health and husbandry. Our collaborators, GLZoo, Yayasan Konklusi, and Indonesia Herpetofauna Foundation, as well as Yogyakarta Conservation Authority (BKSDA Yogyakarta) all participated in this workshop. The workshop was divided into two sessions: presentation by speakers and field practice, closed with a follow-up discussion between the project collaborators.

The final session of Capacity Building on Animal Welfare delivered by the Global Animal Welfare
Finally, the capacity building on animal welfare is over. There were 8 sessions covered from the beginning of the program, from the basic concept of animal welfare to its application in the field with concern towards maximizing welfare under many limitations. Also, there were at least ten participants from other conservation organizations tuned in. We hope to continue working with GAW in the future to help improve wild animal welfare throughout Indonesia.
