You Ever Have That One Friend?
In this instance, this particular question had to be asked more than once. When the owner of Sounds Good Stereo called Wrap Artist to talk to his buddy, Mully, he was looking for a special wrap for a project vehicle he was working on, and they had plenty of time to work on it; so of course, the answer was yes, no problem. (The road to hell is paved with good intentions, after all.) You see, this client is that friend. You know, that one you can't turn down. The one that's been there for you whenever you needed something. That guy.
As most of us know, when it comes to project vehicles, every little thing sets the project back timing-wise, and by the time it makes it to the wrap phase, there’s seldom that “plenty of time” left over. This was no exception. The weeks they had leading up to the wrap turned into a couple of days.
Damn the timing, of course. When the car was ready to be brought in, the Wrap Artist crew was dozens of units deep into trailer season, with a warehouse and parking lot full of others in the queue. As efficient as they operate, something like this requires real time to create, and Mully just doesn't have the time; so he called in a favor and became that friend himself. Enter Ryan Sandoval, owner of Glarb Design. Mully and Glarb share a mutual respect and passion for design, albeit they've had heated discussions about, "what dpi is optimal for wrapping." IYKYK. Now, if you know anything about Glarb, you know the devil is in the details and they run deep. As Mully will tell you, he is "on another level." Glarb took the client's instructions and ran with them.
What were the instructions? "The crazier the better. When you think you've gone too far, go farther."
Say no more, Glarb was off and running, and the end result is a vibrant smack in the senses wrap that not only took home the prize for Best Demo Car but captured the attention of industry legend, Chip Foose.
When asked, Glarb couldn’t help but poke the bear, “I’ve looked forward to working with Mully for a long time, so I had to make sure to include as many DPI as I could!”
Outsourcing design and/or installation can be nerve-racking, especially when your reputation and friendship are on the line. As Mully put it, “Surround yourself with the best, whenever possible.” Clearly, he has. The real question is, who’s that friend you call when that friend calls you?
