Pleasantville Union Free School District is located 30 miles north of New York City in the “walking village” of Pleasantville, home to the Westchester campus of Pace University, the Jacob Burns Film Center, the Mt. Pleasant Public Library, and a year-round farmers market. Four parent organizations, numerous volunteer groups, and strong DistrictVillage cooperation support our students’ academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits.

The mission of Pleasantville Union Free School District is to empower all students to thrive as lifelong learners, dynamic thinkers, and compassionate, contributing citizens through a learning community distinguished by rich, differentiated academic programs in which depth of understanding, creativity and critical reasoning flourish; a safe, supportive environment of respect and collaboration; exploration of individual passions and celebration of accomplishments; and leadership and service. All three schools have been recognized as state and federal Schools of Excellence. An advisory DEIA committee of stakeholders is at work to identify opportunities for all children to have their cultures reflected within our schools.

Academics/Support/Enrichment
Bedford Road School has a science specialist for grades 3 and 4, grade-level STEM activities, an Edible Garden Program, and a Theater Arts Program where each student “shines” on stage. Pleasantville Middle School provides a four-year transition from elementary to secondary education through a wide range of academic programs, 5th and 6th grade teams, and block scheduling. The school also offers many extracurricular activities including intramural athletics, Theatre Arts, STEM clubs, Science Olympiad, and Global Awareness projects. Through its work with the Anti-Defamation League, the school received a “No Place for Hate” designation in 2019-20. Pleasantville High School, a 1990-91 and 2021 National Blue Ribbon School, offers a rigorous college preparatory program that includes Honors classes, 20 open-enrollment AP courses, 3-year science and humanities research programs, a senior internship program, college classes, and an alternative high school. Extracurricular activities include interscholastic athletics, performing and visual arts, and other clubs and community service organizations. Over 100 courses are available to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of our students.
