Writing this book has been an amazing journey! One that I could not have completed without the love and support of outstanding family and friends. I first must thank my beautiful wife Sheryl, who has stood by my side through the peaks and valleys of life. Thank you for helping to keep me grounded and being my best friend. I love you dearly! Next, my mother Loretta, who has been my greatest champion of life! Thank you for instilling in me the strength and courage of believing in oneself! Mere words cannot express how much you mean to me. And to my sister, the beautiful and talented Shangra-la. Thank you for lending me your creative talents with promoting my book and being my sounding board, you will forever hold a special place in my heart. To my sons De’Sean and Cortrell, thank you for inspiring me to be a model example. I am so proud of the men who each of you have become. I look

forward to watching each of you raise your families and navigate your life journeys. To my brother Ernie, the best friend a man could have! Your brilliance, counsel and practicality are unmatched. Thank you for all that you do!

To my mentors, Avis, Sandra, Susan, Tracy, Louis and Reggie; each of you have left an indelible impression upon me that I wear as a badge of honor. I thank you for your knowledge, time, straightforwardness, patience and, the greatest gifts of all, your insight and friendship. My journey would be incomplete without you! Al, thank you for peerreviewing the book and providing excellent input! Sheila, thank you for writing the Foreword! It seems like only yesterday when we first met; where has the time gone? You are an amazing talent and I am truly fortunate to have you as my friend and colleague! To my copy editor Nancy, simply phenomenal! Thank you!

My list of acknowledgements is too long to name. To my family and friends who I did not mention, please know I appreciate and love each of you for your support and love throughout the years. I am truly fortunate to have so many wonderful people in my life. Thank you!
