3 Reasons Why You Should Rebuild Your Deck instead of Repair When spring, summer, and fall come around you want to be able to enjoy your outdoor living areas. Whether it be for family time, inviting friends over, or throwing a birthday party your deck is usually a well used area of the home. If it is in need of repair or rebuilding then it can be hard to spend time out there enjoying it. When you walk out of your front or back door onto your deck, you want to have a good experience. When you have damage to your deck, depending on how bad, it can be unsafe to leave it unattended. It can be hard to decide if you are needing to rebuild it or repair the areas that are broken or weak. Let’s look into a few reasons as to why you should just rebuild.

Cost A lot of times people just assume that the better price option is to repair instead of rebuild. That is not always the case. There are a few things that you can look at to try and decide which is the better option for you. Such as: ● What is the age of the deck? ● What all needs to be done to the deck? ● What condition boards in? ● What is the cost of everything needing repairs? ● How much is the cost to hire someone? There are all the little things that can add up to big amounts. While repairing issues sounded cheaper to you in the beginning, once you factor in all of these it may not anymore. Depending on the age of the deck, your costs can add up to the same cost or more of rebuilding.

Layout If you moved into your house that had an existing deck, maybe you don’t like the layout of it or it isn’t big enough. There could also be the factor that you built the deck while living there, but your family has grown out of it or you have thought of a layout that would work for your family. Whatever the reason be, when you rebuild you can make the deck the exact way that works right for you. You will also be able to add the aesthetic aspects to it that you are wanting.

Damage The amount of damage that there is to the deck plays a big role on your decision. It also matters what type of damage there is. Boards that are bowing can trip people or hurt someone if they fall on them. You wouldn’t want to have a guest over and then slip and get hurt on a board. If the joist or leger boards become loose and wobbly it can be a safety hazard. Water damage to these boards as well can leave a very unsturdy surface and make it very unsafe. Loose railing
