Dear Wine Producer, APC Wine Producers’ Committee Outcomes from 2020 Vintage collection The collection of the fee for service (FFS) charge for the 2020 Vintage is now complete. Thank you to all producers for your support and participation during the year. The committee is pleased to be able to advise that the total tonnes across all regions for the 2020 vintage came very close to predictions (Actual: 45,968, Predicted: 47,420). The 2020 Vintage was lower than the 2019 Vintage by 8%. The biosecurity charge (0.05c per tonne) continues to be collected from all producers. The amount collected so far is $7,136. All funds collected via the charge will be retained in a biosecurity account to be accessed in the circumstances of an event which affects the industry. Each Association has undertaken targeted work in their GI’s, but some of the general activities undertaken by, or on behalf of, all GI’s include:
Established a co-funded partnership with the State government to support WA producers in profitably growing export markets. In collaboration with other agricultural industry groups advocated to ensure COVID19 restrictions were set with industry requirements considered. Provided timely updates to producers regarding complying with COVID 19 restrictions and industry matters in general. Worked with the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions to establish late season burn-off protocol to ensure late harvested fruit was not affected by prescribed burning. Engaged with national wine industry bodies on a variety of matters, such as Wine Taxation and the mandatory pregnancy label, thereby enhancing WA representation and visibility on the national scale. Engaged with state and national bodies to understand and address labour issues with respect to COVID-19 and in general.
