With a clear intention to make a series that is especially suitable for ever y public space and contract set ting, we have extended the Nakki-collection with a selection of modular lobby modules. Complementing the outline of the existing range of Nakki sofas.

Its square contour and straight legs are contrasted with its sof t-shaped seat and back, creating an appealing silhouet te that naturally f its into any space. From hotels and co-working spaces to restaurants and cafés.

To designer Mika Tolvanen, the idea of extending the series felt ver y natural. The shape almost called for modularisation;

“ The m odular nature of t he N ak k i collec tion becam e apparent earl y on, and so it w as a natural transit ion t o devel op this extension of the c urrent f am il y.

Consistent straight lines in a minimalistic combination with sof t shapes allow you to smoothly integrate various Nakki elements while still remaining a clean and visual light aesthetic in spacious rooms. An appearance that is enhanced by its sl ender legs, making the plump and sturdy sofa seat hover above the floor

Interconnectable lobby modules The Nakki series has been a par t of the WOUD collection since our f irst product launch in 2015. Makin g it a true WOUD classic. A classic that now is extended with a new separate addition consisting of f ive modular modules and a mountable table.

Allowing for an unlimi ted number of combinations.

Use the corner modules for both right and lef t corners or as stand-alone modules to create a personal and intimate space. Make the armless middle module extend the sofa and let it form a dynamic and organic shape winding through the room by combining it with the ot toman. The t wo chaise longue modules contribute to a loungy feel and of fer an ideal seat to rest. For fur ther functionalit y, add the side table, which is naturally integrated into the design as it is connected to the leg. Making it sturdy and clean.

The Nakki series is made of a strong wood en frame, upholstered with ample and f irm padding thoroughly selected to provide a high sense of comfor t. Combined with the voluminous, plump armrest and back, the rounded edges and distinctive piping make Nakki a minimalistic take on traditional sofa design.

With its enclosing back, the contemporar y modules can def ine and delimit zones from the rest of the space. Creating small and intimate spaces, informal set tings intended for conversations or comfor table spots for relaxation in waiting areas.

Mika Tolvanen has been par t of the WOUD design team since the ver y beginning in 2014 with his Nakki sofa. We are proud to present the new lobby addition to the distinct series. A se ries that truly revolves around Mika ’s design approach.

As an award-winning designer, Mika Tolvanen creates a wide range of projects. From small objects to comprehensive product series. Af ter graduating from the Royal College of Ar t in London, he established his own practice and in 2015, together with his spouse Julie Tolvanen, he founded Studio Tolvanen in Helsinki, Finland.

He believes that good designs stem from the comprehension of materials and a desire to improve how they function.

Functional design is exactly the keyword to Mika Tolvanen.

To him, it is essential that the design idea star ts from function yet still communicates an original character.

“My produc ts are made for use but this does not mean that they cannot be beautiful,” Mika Tolvanen explains.

With an aim to make new designs more exciting, he designs playful and characteristic products, yet it is essential to him that his work has an understandable and quiet presence as he believes design should never be the aspect that is noisy.

Mastering this delicate balance makes Mika Tolvanen a renowned designer.
