2015: Celebrating a community commitment to excellence. This year our community took continued steps to achieve excellence in many areas. It’s important to reflect on the tremendous commitment it takes to accomplish MetroWest’s advances, and to acknowledge the civic spirited efforts of so many members of our community, to make them a reality. 2015 was the first full year under the leadership of a communityowned MetroWest Master Association. As a result, the increased unity and harmony in our relationships with residents and the business community was palpable. Our first full year of public safety partnership with FirstService Residential, Critical Intervention Services (CIS)–and you, the wonderful members of

our community–yielded excellent results, including strong resident participation and a 62% reduction in traffic accidents in MetroWest. Our public safety partnership is a long-term program to provide an enriched quality of life for years to come. Our community pride continues to shine as we showcase some of the excellent businesses that call MetroWest home. They include the MetroWest Golf Club, voted “Best Golf Course in Orlando” and Valencia College, ranked the Best Community College in the U.S.! These are just some of the examples of excellence that make MetroWest stand out. Every resident has reasons to enjoy living in MetroWest. And every business is a valued community partner. As you enjoy our 2015 Community Report, we hope you too will discover the more you know about MetroWest, the more there is to love!

MetroWest Elementary Relief School

January 2016

Dear MetroWest Residents, The MetroWest area is such a great community that for years has been a sought after place to live and go to school. MetroWest Elementary has continually been high performing with wonderful teachers, support staff and administrators. For at least 10 years, I have witnessed and heard about the growth of our beloved school. We have a team of out of the box thinkers providing creative solutions to manage that growth which has made it work well in spite of the challenges. But now we are at a tipping point in the growth. Once again we are at a juncture to think out of the box in order to bring more curriculum and facility resources so that we can serve the needs of our MetroWest children and families. To date, staff has not been able to find available property that meets our land use standards AND reside within a close enough range to be a true relief school for MetroWest ES. We can no longer wait years to provide solutions and put the school at risk of losing its high performance standards. In light of this issue, our OCPS facilities staff are working with planners, engineers, and the City of Orlando to place a sister school on the same acreage in order to create a relief school, increase facilities and better manage the existing traffic. This effort will allow us to tap into reoccurring revenue for additional administrative, curriculum support staff, and keep the community in the same geographic area. Below is the where you will find the site plans and relief school map options for the MetroWest Relief School known as “84-E-W-4”. MetroWest Master Association ElectsThree New Board Members

(L-R) Neil Morley, Jim Drayton, Stina D’Uva, Howard Levene and Israel Lopez.

MetroWest Master Association (MWMA) elected three community leaders to their Board of Directors – Jim Drayton, Howard Levene and Israel Lopez. Jim Drayton’s professional background in banking, finance and real estate, coupled with his current role as the owner of mortgage company Orlando Home Loans, have helped manage the MetroWest Master Association wisely and well. A 13-year resident of MetroWest, Jim served as a board member from 2010-2011 and served as the 2015 president of the MWMA Board of Directors. Jim combines his financial acumen with his passion for the community to ensure that MetroWest continues to thrive. As a longtime resident of the Vista Royale community in MetroWest, Howard Levene actively worked as the 2015 vice president of the MetroWest Master Association Board of Directors to foster an environment that ensures residents and members have a voice. A motivated business professional with a successful track record of profitable small business ownership, his strengths lie in the ability to

quickly identify the needs of people and relay ideas as to how best to achieve results. A resident of Ventura at Stonebridge Commons Condominiums since 2005, Israel Lopez retired after a successful 20-year career in the business industry. He has served as president of the Stonebridge Commons Board for the past three years and on Ventura’s Board for the past seven years. Some of his achievements as an Association Board member include increased safety and security measures for Stonebridge Commons and service on the Landscaping Committee with a priority on beautification and improvement issues. He has managed two Association’s budgets without increasing dues and maintained a minimum of three months’ surplus for operating costs. “My goal is to make MetroWest the cleanest, safest and securest community possible while reducing costs,” said Israel. Following the election, Board members voted the following officers into service: President - Jim Drayton,Vice President - Howard Levene, Secretary - Stina D’Uva and Treasurer - Neil Morley join Israel Lopez as a Director.
