West Orange Country Club

Owned by members to ensure the club’s long legacy

New GM Brendon Chase, center, and Pro Shop employees William Wrigley and Derek Krotje, help to keep WOCC moving ahead and planning for a successful future.

By Teresa Kazaros The West Orange Country Club finds itself in the spotlight yet again, with it’s ability to adapt to the times while also staying true to it’s values, it is proving to be a force of nature. With record number of golf clubs closing across the country, we identify what makes this club the exception. When you walk in there is a certain home-away from home feel, that should be properly experienced in person. With help from it’s members and word of mouth, the little secret is getting out and people are flocking to join and support this club! The club is currently accepting members with plans to limit membership once it has reached their sustainability goal. The club was purchased by some of it’s very own members with the intent of ensuring the club’s long legacy. Numerous improvements have been made and it’s no wonder that the club has 101 new memberships since the purchase one year ago. The

new golf carts and excellent greens keep the golfers more than adequately challenged and intrigued. There is always a game to get in on, a tournament or just a fun day to be had on the course.

time, truly a sight to see! The club will also be offering summer camps and is sure to have something to appeal to all the kids and parents for the summer.

The family members enjoy a number of different amenities some of which include tennis, swimming, golf and family night. Lessons are available for all ages, tennis camp is soon to start February 18th for ages 5-7 years. Family night which is a night of putting, food and crafts for the kids, is always a big hit for the parents and children who attend. The adults get a little time to relax, enjoy the sun as it sets over the course, while the kids are kept entertained with activities that cater to their age groups. Swim lessons are available at our pool, certified swim instructors hold classes daily for infants and little ones to learn survival swim.

One of our most recognizable components thus far would be the promotion of Brendon Chase, the head golf professional who can now can add General Manager to his title. Mr. Chase has been with the club for four years and through consistent dedication and hard work he has ascended to his new role. He is loved dearly by all who know him, there isn’t a kid that walks by that doesn’t immediately run to him for a hug. He gives his time and kindness to all he meets, it’s no surprise that he has been chosen to continue the progress of the club. We congratulate him on his accomplishments and look forward to what new improvements he will bring!

The junior golf academy seems to be the main attraction, a Friday afternoon with a parade of golf carts and children heading out, cheering to see their favorite coach and excited for their golf
