DILLARD SCHOOL TO HOST ASSEMBLY Dillard Street Elementary School and Project 429 are hosting a community assembly from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the school, 311 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. The free program is intended to connect the students, parents and school with the community to eliminate bullying and promote a safe learning environment.

During the Oct. 25 City Commission meeting, Winter Garden city leaders passed Ordinance 18-37 — an ordinance for which several Winter Garden residents have expressed concern. The ordinance establishes rules and procedures regarding the abil-
ity of residential and commercial builders to hire private companies to review site plans and conduct building inspections to ensure buildings satisfy all code requirements and safety standards. American Farmland Trust, the organization behind the national movement “No Farms No Food,” has declared the Winter Garden Farmers Market as the 2018 People’s Choice Award winner. Markets were evaluated in four categories: Focus on Farmers, Healthy Food for All, Pillar of the Community and Champion for the Environment. Winter Garden won first place in all four categories.
