Parents and faculty who gathered at the West Orange Country Club on Friday, Oct. 5, were given a sneak peek at the plans for Central Florida Preparatory School’s new campus. The new facility will offer opportunities to expand the student body and provide on-campus sports programs. The 27-year-old school has about 200 students at its Citrus

YOUR TOWN WHS BAND WINS CONTEST The Fightin’ Wolverine Marching Band nearly needed another bus to cart all its hardware home last weekend. The Windermere High School marching band took a plethora of awards at the Space Coast Island Classic band competition, held Oct. 6 at Merritt Island High School. In addition to being crowned Overall Grand Champion, the band won Best in Class 5A Music Performance, Best in Class 5A Visual Performance, Best in Class 5A Color Guard/Auxiliary, first place in 5A, Best in Show Music Performance, Best in Show Visual and Best in Show Color Guard/Visual.

hen Bri Bayne packed everything she owned and moved from Maryland to Windermere in February, she had a few a dreams in mind. The biggest of those — and the main reason for her move — was to put her skills as a makeup artist to the test by doing makeup for Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. Today, she’s living that dream. “I moved down here just for makeup in general, and Halloween Horror Nights was one of my main drives,” Bayne said. “When I applied ... I didn’t anticipate getting (the job). It’s a very hard gig to get to, but I ended up getting it within a couple of weeks of applying.” SEE MAKEUP PAGE 4
