Commission approves Oakland Hills PUD

City leaders gave the green light on a rezoning ordinance that allows for the development of 17 new single-family homes along East Oakland Avenue. Commissioners approved Ordinance 18-23, which pertains to a 9.18-acre property generally located west of Tildenville School Road, north of West Colonial Drive and along the south side of East Oakland Avenue. The property, titled Oakland Hills PUD, has been rezoned from R-1 (single-family residential district) to Planned

YOUR TOWN JUNIOR SERVICE LEAGUE GIVES $60,000 IN GRANTS The West Orange Junior Service League has distributed grant monies totaling $60,186.85 for 2017-18. Julie Bendure is this year’s WOJSL president. Recipients are Boys & Girls Clubs of West Orange, $14,186.85; Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, $10,000; Edgewood Children’s Ranch, Jimmy Crabtree Cancer Fund, Matthew’s Hope, UCP of Central Florida and West Orange Scholarship Foundation, $5,000 each; Christian Service Center Daily Bread and WOJSL Scholarship, $3,500 each; Oakland Nature Preserve and Roper YMCA, $1,500 each; and Southeastern Food Bank/Bread of Life, $1,000.
