Dr. J. Steven Teal, of Winter Garden, received two prestigious awards at the 190th annual Grand Communication of the Grand Lodge of Florida, Free and Accepted Masons. He was awarded the title of chairman emeritus of the board of trustees for his service as a 10-year member and five-year chairman of the board of the Masonic Home of Florida. This lifelong title is the first awarded by the Grand Lodge. The second honor is the John P. Duval Award, given to an Outstanding Florida Mason. It is the highest award a Florida Mason can receive. Teal is a native of Winter Garden, the son of the late W.M. “Duck” and Evelyn Teal and a 1971 graduate of Lakeview High School.
One arrest has been made in the abduction and killing of 16-year-old Bruce “B.J.” Haggins Jr., who wore No. 89 for the West Orange High Warriors.
