Winter Park will commemorate Memorial Day with a service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park. This service, titled “From a Grateful Nation,” will honor the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. It will feature the Winter Springs High School Army ROTC, VFW Post 2093 Community Band, emcee Bud Hedinger, vocalist Charles Haugabrooks, Florida State Reenactment Society and guest speaker retired U.S. Marine Col. Winter Park High School led all Orange County Public Schools in the district’s 201617 biliteracy initiative. Winter Park students received 156 Gold Biliteracy Seals and 30 Silver Biliteracy Seals. The Florida Seal of Biliteracy Program was established to recognize high-school graduates who have attained competency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in one or more foreign languages, in addition to English.
