akeside Village residents now have a park to call their own. County officials hosted a ribbon-cutting event at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the 8.93-acre Lakeside Village Park located at 10820 Village Lake Road, Windermere. Windermere residents raised concerns about a construction project that would install a sidewalk along Sixth Avenue during a workshop meeting on April 24. The project involves installing a five-foot-wide pedestrian
sidewalk along Sixth Avenue from Main Street to Lake Street. The proposed sidewalk project is just part of a larger multimodal network plan to make the town of Windermere easier to navigate for pedestrians, bikers and golf cart drivers. SEE SIDEWALK PAGE 5

The Rotary Club of Windermere is hosting a day of family fun, food and entertainment from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 5, around Windermere Town Hall, 520 Main St. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. Music will be provided by the Down Brothers. Food trucks will be available, and events planned for the children include several bounce houses, face painting, sidewalk painting, basketball and soccer on the courts. Other activities will include a sombrero contest (with a $100 prize for the best decorated), margarita and tequila tasting and simulated cucaracha races (cucarachas available for purchase and prizes for the winners). Margaritas, cerveza, soda and water will be available to purchase.
