YOUR TOWN OAKLAND SWINGS WITH JAZZ CELEBRATION The town of Oakland will celebrate International Jazz Day with live jazz music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 30, on the porch of the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center, 126 Petris Ave., Oakland. In partnership with the HAPCO Music Foundation, saxophonist Jordan Bolds will serenade visitors before they step into a gallery full of paintings, historical photos, artifacts and more — all featuring Oakland as its centerpiece. Visitors are welcome to sit on the center’s porch, picnic tables and benches, or bring their lawn chairs and listen to the music from the grass next to the West Orange Trail. Center capacity will be limited to 10 people at a time. Visitors should maintain social distancing, observe local mask mandates and use hand sanitizer upon entry.

AUDUBON TO CELEBRATE WILDLIFE DRIVE

Orange Audubon Society will celebrate the sixth anniversary of the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive May 1. From 9 a.m to 3 p.m., volunteers will be stationed at the pavilion near the historic pumphouse, two miles from the entrance, to help visitors better identify birds seen along the drive and how to safely spot alligators, bobcats, otters and other wildlife.
