Before it was Page’s Pastiques, the store was home to J.S. “Shorty” Reddick’s market. The general store was built in 1928 and for years had a potbellied stove locals sat around playing checkers. One rumor tells of a tunnel running from the store to the house across the street where “hootch” was stored during the days of Prohibition, but this story could never be substantiated.
