The building is set to be completed in mid-May with the staff’s move-in date set for midJune, and it won’t be a moment too soon, said Principal Douglas Guthrie. With dozens of positions still to fill and shipments of equipment scheduled for delivery in June, the to-do list to get Windermere High ready for the start of the 2017-18 school year is still exhaustive. Over the last several weeks, Guthrie has been working with Orange County Public Schools
Nehrling Gardens is holding a children’s education class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15, at the gardens, 2267 Hempel Ave., Gotha. The class will explore the world of butterflies. A juvenile who had fled from a Windermere police officer after an attempted traffic stop was arrested Thursday, April 6, after a two-hour, multi-agency search. The 15-year-old, a student at Dr. Phillips High School, was observed speeding at 44 mph in a silver-colored Ford Focus SEE CAUGHT PAGE 6
