The building is set to be completed in mid-May with the staff’s move-in date set for midJune, and it won’t be a moment too soon, said Principal Douglas Guthrie. With dozens of positions still to fill and shipments of equipment scheduled for delivery in June, the to-do list to get Windermere High ready for the start of the 2017-18 school year is still exhaustive. Over the last several weeks, Guthrie has been working with Orange County Public Schools

Nehrling Gardens is holding a children’s education class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15, at the gardens, 2267 Hempel Ave., Gotha. The class will explore the world of butterflies. Learn how to identify them and what they tell us about the world and the environment. Tour the historic butterfly haven at the gardens and take home wildflower seeds to start a butterfly garden. A juvenile who had fled from a Windermere police officer after an attempted traffic stop was arrested Thursday, April 6, after a two-hour, multi-agency search. The 15-year-old, a student at Dr. Phillips High School, was observed speeding at 44 mph in a silver-colored Ford Focus SEE CAUGHT PAGE 6
