Pooches permitted?

Currently, Winter Garden is the only West Orange municipality that has an ordinance allowing doggie dining. West Orange Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Stina D’Uva is working to change that.

Florida Statute 509.233 covers the rules for dog-friendly dining at restaurants. Dogs only are allowed at outside dining areas of a restaurant, and the restaurant must have sanitation measures available in case of accidents.

Additionally, local municipalities are in charge of regulation and enforcement of the procedures outlined in the statute, among other requirements.

“There are certain things in the state statute that are very specific that would have to be adhered to,” D’Uva said. “Dogs are becoming more compatible everywhere you go, and we’re not talking about service dogs. Of course, service dogs would be allowed inside and

outside of an establishment no questions asked, but this is not for the service dog. It’s for just pets.”

D’Uva added she has been working with local officials to allow for dog-friendly dining at restaurants in West Orange.

“We are trying to help our businesses,” D’Uva said. “The chamber board of directors (is) supportive of an ordinance that would allow (dog-friendly dining at restaurants).”

WINDERMERE

Brad Cornelius, of Wade Trim, works with the town of Windermere and handles planning review and consultations.

“The town’s code is silent to the issue of doggie dining,” Cornelius said. “For doggie dining to be allowed in the town, the town would have to adopt an ordinance that puts in place the specific requirements for doggie dining.”

ORANGE COUNTY

Chris Testerman, assistant county administrator for Orange County, said the Orange County Board of County Commissioners will have a work session June 5 to address whether to adopt a dogfriendly dining ordinance.

“The board is going to have a work session to see if they want to adopt such an ordinance,” Testerman said. “(At) the work session, we’ll give an overview of the concept and the board will give us direction of where to go from there (and) whether to go forward and draft an ordinance to bring back for public hearings.”

OCOEE

The city of Ocoee also lacks a dog-friendly dining ordinance, however, adopting one may be possible in the future, said City Manager Robert Frank. “(Although) the issue has come up sporadically in the past, there

have been no requests to look into the issue by restaurant owners; most likely due to the lack of sidewalk dining-type areas in the city,” Frank said. “Although we don’t have such an ordinance, this is one issue that will be addressed as the downtown redevelopment project progresses. The plan for downtown includes expandedwidth sidewalks and pedestrian areas, so we will be adopting some rules for the use and enjoyment of these areas in the near future.”

OAKLAND

Oakland Town Manager Dennis Foltz said the town currently does not have many restaurants. However, he also said a dog-friendly dining ordinance is something that could be considered in anticipation of more restaurants coming to the town.

“The idea of dog-friendly dining is something that we certainly want to consider when we get some restaurants, but it is an issue that has not been raised,” Foltz said. “I’d like for us to be looking at it in anticipation (of more restaurants). I think it would be good for the commission to talk about early on as we’re updating our codes. … We don’t have the restaurants right now.”

ome dog owners enjoy taking their four-legged friends along with them to dine outside of restaurants on days when the weather is nice.

Some restaurants welcome their patrons’ dogs and even set up water bowls for them.

But are they following the rules?

It depends on whether their local government has an ordinance in place that allows for dog-friendly dining at restaurants.

West Orange Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Stina D’Uva said for dog-friendly dining at restaurants to be allowed, the local governing body of where a restaurant is located must have an ordinance in place to allow it.

“Right now, there’s a state statute that allows for municipalities and counties within the state to enact an ordinance that would then — by a permit process — allow restaurants with outside dining areas to allow owners and their dog pets to be outside,” D’Uva said. “Currently the city of Winter Garden (and) the city of Orlando … already have an ordinance (and) a permit process.

Unincorporated Orange County — like the Gotha area, Dr. Phillips area — does not.”

atients who visit Shepherd’s Hope Health Center in Ocoee will be seeing many new faces soon now that the nonprofit organization has partnered with the University of Central Florida’s College of Nursing.

Shepherd’s Hope, founded in 1997, offers free medical care to uninsured people from its five health centers in Orange and Seminole counties.

Although the organization has partnered with UCF for four years, thanks to a $62,000 grant provided by the West Orange Healthcare District, both undergraduate and graduate nursing students now will be able to apply their knowledge and receive realworld clinical experience — all while supporting Shepherd’s Hope mission to aid Central Florida’s economically disadvantaged population.

“The realism of health care today is that not everybody can get what they need when they need it, so having services such as Shepherd’s Hope helps to provide those services and gives those students a realistic ... (experience), because not everybody has the platinum health insurance plan,” said Mary Lou Sole, the UCF College of Nursing dean. “So our undergraduate students are doing health screenings, health assessments, health evaluations and setting up different educational programs so that the individuals out there seeking health care can gain more knowledge about managing ... common health problems that are seen.

And then the graduate students can receive experience learning to manage (patients) as an advanced practice nurse.”

UCF nursing students created educational materials that will help patients avoid the flu for display at Shepherd’s Hope.

younger than 65 are living without health insurance. This is higher than the national uninsured rate of 10% and Florida’s uninsured rate of 15.3%, UCF spokeswoman Rachel Williams said.

But having provided care to 19,575 patients in 2017 alone, Shepherd’s Hope is helping to bridge that gap with the help of UCF’s nursing students.

“The opportunity for the students to come into contact with these patients whose essential health care needs are typically under-met is a wonderful winwin opportunity for both of our organizations and the patients,” said Marni Stahlman, CEO and president of Shepherd’s Hope.

“And a Shepherd’s Hope clinic is capable of treating a patient like any other outpatient doctor’s office where you can be seen for acute illnesses, such as a respiratory or an ear infection in a young

child to more chronic or lifethreatening diagnoses, (such as) cancer.

“Some procedures can be accomplished at our clinic, but obviously, we’re limited like any other outpatient clinic with not having access to more robust diagnostic equipment or tools that would help treat those patients,” Stahlman said. “So at that point, we would utilize our hospital partners at both Florida Hospital and Orlando Health.”

UCF’s nursing students have collectively provided more than 30,000 hours of medical services to economically disadvantaged residents in Central Florida in the past 20 years. They also will help staff Shepherd’s Hope upcoming 10,000-square-foot health center in Winter Garden, scheduled to open in December at 455 Ninth St.

However, the Winter Garden dispatcher sent the law-enforcement officers to Bend Grass Avenue instead of Bent Grass Avenue.

So when Anglero’s fellow officer and girlfriend Stephanie Rodriguez rang the doorbell and knocked on the door, the homeowner, Christopher Lewis, awoke confused and in fear for his safety and that of his family’s.

The homeowner, who lived with his wife and then 12-year-old son, grabbed a handgun and made his way to the door when the officers noticed he was in possession of a weapon. Shots were fired.

During Anglero’s sentencing on Thursday, March 29, Rodriguez said she was the first to fire into the home. Anglero said he fired second, releasing four bullets into the Lewis family’s living room and foyer.

While testifying as the state’s sole witness, Lewis said the incident was traumatizing and shattered the family’s sense of safety.

Anglero had 10 witnesses testify for leniency on his behalf, recalling moments Anglero had supported them when they were

faced with challenging circumstances.

“I say all of this because sending Carlos away would not only affect Carlos, but the community itself,” said Lorenzo Torres, who befriended Anglero in 2014. “A family would lose its father, a Cub Scout would lose a trusted leader, a young man like myself would lose a mentor, but most important to me, I would lose a man I call dad.”

Rodriguez also spoke on Anglero’s behalf and commented on the fact that the incident has had different results for all parties involved.

“How is that a human error can have three different outcomes for the same exact incident?” Rodriguez said. “I am no longer with the department for medical reasons from that night. The dispatcher received no repercussions from sending us to the wrong address, and here we stand today with officer Anglero waiting a sentencing for simply doing his job. Due to my life being in jeopardy, I shot first, and I was cleared of everything.

And yet because he shot second in order for the rest of us to get cover, instead of an award, he’s being questioned in a courtroom and his life is on the line.”

Defense lawyer James W. Smith argued that Judge Kim Shepard should consider Anglero’s character, including the fact that he has no criminal history or complaints on his record.

“The question comes to this: Has he done enough good in his life that this court should give him a second chance?” Smith said.

“The state’s argument is no. The state wants you to focus in on one night – a period of five minutes or less – and say that he deserves to have a felony conviction for the rest of his life. That’s not justice.”

When asked to come to the stand, Anglero emphasized that he behaved as he had been trained and penalizing him might set a dangerous precedent, making officers believe they need to give anyone pointing a gun at them a “freebie” before they are allowed to shoot back and protect themselves.

Assistant State Attorney Deborah Barra had recommended Anglero be sentenced to pay a $10,000 fine and serve six months in the Orange County jail followed by two years of probation.

She also emphasized Anglero should be treated “like anyone else in that situation,” regardless of emotional “sound bites,” com-

“What has gone without any mention are the true facts of what happened and the true conduct of Carlos Anglero,” Barra said.

“And what he did on that night has absolutely nothing to do with anybody except for himself — his own conduct. It was his conduct that when he arrived at, yes, the wrong house … it was the decisions he made from that point on that determine exactly why we’re here today.

“And the decision that he made was that after his girlfriend fired into Mr. Lewis’s house twice, and all the officers were retreating back to … process the situation, it was the defendant who chose to not fall back or hide behind anything and assess the situation,” Barra said. “It was his decision to point his weapon, and it was his decision, on four separate occasions, to pull the trigger and fire bullets into the home of a husband, and a wife and their 12-year-old son.

That is his responsibility because although he’s a law-enforcement officer, it does not exempt him from crime.”

Horizon West residents soon will have a new place to grab a pint, a plate of bangers and mash and enjoy live music with the opening of Yeoman’s Cask & Lion in Hamlin.

Yeoman’s Cask & Lion is a British-themed restaurant and pub operated by 23 Restaurant Services that’s set to open this fall at the Hamlin Town Center. The new location will be the pub’s first location in Central Florida.

The original Yeoman’s location is located in downtown Tampa.

“Yeoman’s is our Britishthemed pub,” 23 Restaurant Services spokeswoman Lindsay Kenyon said. “It’s definitely one of our most fun restaurants. You come in for wonderful food, a great atmosphere, and then we have live music throughout the week.”

Kenyon said the pub offers British staples, such as bangers and mash, fish and chips and shepherd’s pie. The menu also offers an assortment of American dishes.

“The one officer tells me he wrote them a ticket for the noise, not for the marijuana,” Sandvik said. “We have a right to assume that the police is going to take care of a problem like this, and if they didn’t have more than seven officers — as they told us while they were on duty that Friday night — then they should have called Orange County (Sheriff’s Office) for backup.”

Sandvik said a similar incident happened in June. That time, he and his neighbors heard gunshots and found 12 bullet casings.

Ocoee Police Chief Charles Brown said the homeowners were issued a civil citation in June as well as during the more recent occurrence in March.

During the public forum, two residents expressed dissatisfaction with the Ocoee Police Department’s response to a neighbors’ house party on Friday, March 23.

Residents Steven Sandvik and Charles Hooper said the house party took place around 11 p.m. and disturbed surrounding homes due to its loud music and large amount of people.

“I called the police because they were throwing a party across the street,” Sandvik said. “Conservatively, there were about 400 people there. … They had a guy with a wand frisking and collecting cover charges, so I called the police and they sent an officer out who pulls up in front, walks out of the car and talks to them. Out of the blue After losing her twin boys prematurely, Jenna Dail finds hope in her family’s story — and purpose for the boys’ lives — through her nonprofit The Color Blue and Hope.

T

here are times when Jenna Dail sees a random blue balloon — trapped in a tree, stuck in a gutter, floating along in the sky — and immediately feels a sense of hope.

It’s always a blue balloon, and she believes it’s never a coincidence. It’s a sign her boys are always there, even though they aren’t physically.

Dail, a Winter Springs resident, and her husband are parents of four children — “two here to hold and two we long to see again in heaven,” she said. They lost their twin boys — Grady Dean and Ryder Dylan — three years ago. She went into labor at Florida Hospital in September 2014 at 22 weeks pregnant. Grady lived for three hours after birth; Ryder was born sleeping.

Through her pain and grieving, she felt as though God wanted to use her story to help other women in similar situations, and that’s where the story of her OrlandoSEE SPREADING PAGE 8

Three-and-one-half years ago, Dail was placed on bed rest for about a month at a hospital in Miami, four hours away from her family and friends in Orlando.

She was diagnosed with twin-totwin transfusion syndrome, a rare, serious condition that can occur in pregnancies when identical twins share a placenta and blood flows unevenly between the babies.

She underwent a laser surgery to correct the TTTS, but her water broke, and she was given an amniopatch.

“I couldn’t even sit up while eating; I wasn’t allowed to roll to my side,” she said. “Through that journey, I realized there was nothing there — I didn’t have family to go to the store to buy stuff I needed, because everyone was here in Orlando. I needed lotion — my skin was peeling, because I hadn’t showered for so long. Finally after a few days of begging (for lotion), a nurse brought her own lotion from home. That’s where the Boxes of Hope came to mind: I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there needs to be a service or box to give to these moms when they’re here long-term.”

After Dail went into premature labor in September 2014 and ultimately lost both sons, her way of dealing with the grief was through writing and journaling. She wanted to write to be able to remember and look back on their journey, so she started a blog called “The Color Blue,” named for the boys.

“The color blue is the boys,” she said. “The boys were born premature in September, which is (a) sapphire (birthstone). I had friends who came to visit, and they gave me bracelets with the boys’ birthstones on it. Ever since then, the color blue is the boys. If I see blue anywhere, it’s them. The ‘hope’ part (of the nonprofit’s name) is the hope that I found in our story.”

SPREADING LOVE AND HOPE

From Dail’s own experience, she realized there was a need in both hospitals and the community.

That was the need for supplying women in similar situations with things necessary for long-term hospital stays.

Boxes of Hope are provided to women who are on bed rest, and Boxes of Love can be curated and sent to women who have lost a baby. The mission is always to

Boxes of Hope contain items such as facial wipes, deodorant, books, stationery, combs, colored pencils, nail polish, lotion and hand sanitizer — anything moms might need or want while staying in the hospital.

The organization became a nonprofit in early 2017 and partners primarily with Florida Hospital, where Grady and Ryder were born.

The hospital serves a few dozen mothers on bed rest or those with high-risk pregnancies each month.

“The moms are looking at the box as a gift from the nurse, and it’s helped create this strong bond and relationship between the mom and nurse,” Dail said. “We’ve heard from moms who say it’s been a reminder to them that there’s still hope in their story and not to give up and they’re not alone.”

To date, The Color Blue and Hope has packed and distributed about 400 Boxes of Hope.

Boxes of Love serve as a reminder that the mother has loved ones supporting her. Friends and family can choose items to fill a Box of Love, and it will be sent to the mother along with a personalized note and support resources.

“It’s an emotional roller-coaster,” Dail said. “First and foremost, it keeps me going. I feel like if I didn’t have this mission at hand, I’d feel hopeless in our story. It gives our boys purpose and that gives me drive instead of being stuck in a dark place. … It’s been good to see and hear their names being spoken so often now, so it keeps their story going and gives them purpose, which in return helps me heal.”

West Orange Chamber announces Danniel J. Petro matching grant campaign, begins construction

The Growth Matters campaign will transform the WOCC headquarters to create a state-of-the-art interior with expanded meeting areas, new member service stations, upgrades to the building’s exterior and accommodations for a growing staff to meet members’ needs. Construction on the project commenced on March 29.

Willie Lee ‘Lightning’ Lightner, 73, of Winter Garden, Florida departed this life on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Willie was born on May 16, 1944 to the late Willie Mae Lightner and Willie B. Patterson in Clayton, Alabama. He worked in the citrus industry for several years.

Willie is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lightner; stepchildren, Darrol (Gretchen) Ward, Chantina Hayes and Danza Petty; 10 siblings; 15 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, at St. Paul AME Church, 330 Center St., Winter Garden. A service of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the church. Interment at Winter Garden Cemetery. Postell’s Mortuary is providing service for the Lightner family.

WILLIE LEE ‘LIGHTNING’ LIGHTNER DIED WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4, 2018

Judy Russell was a beloved wife, mother, Gran, sister, motherin-law, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. The love for Judy will never die, because love never dies. Judy Russell passed away February 13, 2018 in her home surrounded by many of those who loved and cared for her.

Despite life’s obstacles, Judy radiated a grace and dignity that is rare to find. When asked by a minister if there was anyone she needed to make amends to before she died, the family noted that Judy had no one who had anything but love both from Judy and for Judy.

The world, as well as Judy’s husband, her four children, and all of her family and friends lost a beautiful part of their lives.

However, Judy’s gift of love will live on within each and every person whose life she touched.

Judith Joyce Russell was born Nov. 6, 1942 in Stafford Kansas. She was the daughter of the late Marjorie and Anthone Polzin.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ron Russell of Ocoee, Florida. She is survived by four children, Cindy Fabry and her husband, Paul, of Winter Garden, Florida; Andria Cadman, of Kansas City, Missouri; Tom Russell, of Kansas City, Missouri; and Diana Harmon and her husband, Bob, of Alpharetta, Georgia. The West Orange baseball team swept Lake Brantley last week in a crucial district series, bringing the Warriors to 4-2 in their district (8-8 overall). West Orange won 8-0 April 4 and 4-1 April 6. After being swept by Apopka to open district play, West Orange first swept Wekiva and now the Patriots. Doug Nikhazy and Ryan Jean earned complete game wins for the Warriors, allowing three and four hits, respectively, in their impressive outings.

West Orange lacrosse senior Mikey Berkman was recognized on the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Boys Lacrosse Teams as selected by Brendan Hall last week. USA Today High School Sports published the picks April 5. Berkman has received national attention recently for becoming Florida’s first varsity player to amass 200 goals and 200 assists in his career.

Bailey Fernandez spent the days after Christmas 2010 in a hospital bed, recovering from a brain surgery that removed a rare tumor. Today, the Winter Garden native is a standout varsity softball player.

The headaches were debilitating — and frequent.

Bailey Fernandez was just 10 years old at the time; she grew up in Winter Garden and played youth softball out of the West Orange Girls Club.

For a girl who loved softball and being out on the field with her teammates, the increasing frequency with which the headaches occurred — and the overwhelming discomfort they caused — was jarring.

Her coaches didn’t know what to do and often opted to sit her out to be on the safe side. “(The headaches) were bad to where I couldn’t really open my eyes or the smallest shade of light would hurt my head,” Bailey said.

The Metro West Conference Championship for boys and girls track and field took place April 7 at Deputy Scott Pine Community Park — home of the Windermere High Wolverines.

The meet, which included all 10 schools from the western half of Orange County’s Metro Conference, was dominated by local teams, with West Orange High

winning the boys championship and upstart Windermere High winning the girls championship.

Caleb Andreaus Ocoee High baseball’s Caleb Andreaus has been a leader for the Knights at the plate and on the field. Andreaus, a senior with interest from Texas Tech as a possible walk-on, is hitting .428 this spring with 20 runs scored and 18 RBIs. He also has just one error out on the field for the Knights (13-7), spending time playing second base, third base and center field.

Ocoee had a breakout season in 2017. How motivated were you to build upon that success?

I was very motivated. After we graduated seven seniors (from the 2017 team), everyone counted us out. We came out of the chute playing well … we’ve just got to keep working hard.

Of which win for the team are you most proud so far this spring?

Beating West Orange (2-1, Feb. 27), because for us seniors, it was the first time that we actually got to do it. It was the best game we’ve played, defensively, all year. Offensively, it was an all-around good game for the team.

What have you learned from being in head coach Bobby Brewer’s program?

He just knows a lot about the sport. What you have to learn about him is when he’s on you, it means he cares.

Who is an alumni of the program who made a big impression on you?

Colby Karr. (He) and I grew up playing together. … We became really good friends, and he motivated me to stick to baseball.

Can you explain what you love about baseball?

I just love the way the sport is.

It’s mentally tough — I like the challenge. In its own way, it’s a “me” sport and a team sport.

You have to do your job in order

Ben Zobrist, because he’s always been an underdog and worked hard to make his way on the field. He won a World Series ring, and it’s every kid’s dream to go out there and do that.

If you could play a ballgame at any ballpark — past or present — which would you pick?

We’re going old school and playing at the Polo Grounds (baseball and football stadium in New York City, demolished in 1964). It’s a unique ballpark — it was like 250-something (feet) down the line and 500 (feet) to dead-center.

What’s the best baseball advice you’ve received?

You’ve got to learn to let stuff go. If you strike out in your first at-bat and you dwell on it, then you’re not going to have a successful day.

What do you think you’d like to study in college?

I’m going to study sports marketing and try to become a sports agent. I just want to be around sports all the time.

What’s your favorite postgame meal?

A lot of times we always go to Chipotle. I get a steak burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream and lettuce.

DIAGNOSIS

The initial diagnoses was a sinus infection, but when Bailey — the youngest of four sisters — awoke on Christmas and could not even enjoy the electric guitar Santa had left under the tree, Bailey and her family returned to the hospital.

This time, the doctors recommended she immediately be taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in downtown Orlando for an MRI. “I was just wondering, ‘What the heck is going on?’” said Bailey, now 17 with her 18th birthday looming April 17. “What are (the doctors) talking to my mom about?”

A frantic night ensued, with long conversations between her parents and the doctors.

When the final verdict came down, it was initially devastating: Bailey had a cancerous brain tumor that would require surgery. The rare tumor causing Bailey’s striking discomfort was known as pilocytic astrocytoma, a slow-growing tumor that occurs most commonly in children and young adults.

On Dec. 27, 2010, Bailey Fernandez endured a six-hour brain surgery that — much to the relief of worried family and friends — was successful.

‘SHE’S A FIGHTER’

A little over seven years later,

Bailey and her family still recall the ordeal in vivid detail. A junior at South Lake High and now residing in Lake County, Bailey’s softball career is back on track and thriving. She is a dynamic power hitter and leads the South Lake Eagles in RBIs (19), hits (23) and batting average (.442).

She is also a standout for one of Texas Glory Fastpitch Softball’s four Florida-based teams. Colleges are taking note of her power at the plate and her strong arm and “pop time” at catcher.

It may sound like a long time ago, but it isn’t necessarily so for the Fernandez family. Malissa Fernandez, in particular, still remembers the way her youngest daughter struggled during her recovery.

“She’s a fighter,” Malissa Fernandez said.

Bailey had to be kept mostly inside for several months and had to wait for her hair to grow back from where the surgery took place — a tough thing for a 10-year old girl who wanted to feel pretty.

“I felt like an alien with a bunch of stuff wrapped around my head,” Bailey said. “It felt weird.”

Bailey’s hair grew back, she recovered and eventually got back out on the field by the summer of 2011. A travel team called the Diamonds Fastpitch 10U took Bailey on that summer. Even as she recovered and struggled with being out in the Florida heat again, and even as her parents were worrying of injury, she began to feel like her old self.

For years after, Bailey would see a doctor every six months to track her progress and see that the cancer didn’t return.

In 2017, she was declared cancer-free. Despite all of this, and the tremendous strength and positivity she showed throughout, Bailey was reserved about her story — many of her travel and varsity teammates are not aware.

“I don’t really tell anybody,” Bailey said. “People are so judgmental these days.”

Now, as her junior season nears districts and she prepares for college visits, Bailey has shared her story. She and her family hope it inspires anyone going through a similar situation and make more folks aware that childhood cancer is real.

“She was so worried other kids would think she was a freak,” Malissa Fernandez recalled. “We tell her, ‘Don’t be ashamed’ — God is great and has a plan for her.”

In addition to schoolwork and playing varsity softball, she trains every weekend with Garrett Nuss at V2Pro Fitness and Sergio Rodriguez. She is working to get faster to increase interest from colleges.

And mostly, she’s happy to be out on the softball diamond as often as possible — knowing, better than most teens her age, how lucky she is to be out on the field doing so.

“If it wasn’t for softball, I’d stay at home and do nothing,” Bailey said. “It’s something that I do — I get to come out here and ball out.”

he West Orange Warriors and Olympia Titans boys lacrosse teams met April 5 for a match significantly beyond its implications within the West Division of the Metro Conference.

The regular season match was the first game played on West Orange’s new synthetic turf playing surface, which replaced the turf that was damaged during Hurricane Irma in September. That also meant it was the first home game of the season for the Warriors, who played their previous nine games away from campus.

The Warriors (10-0) christened their new field with a dominant 20-2 win over their nearby rivals. Olympia fell to 5-8 with the loss.

West Orange was led by a game-high five goals from Logan Mueller. Sam Malaussena had six saves in goal, and Caleb Haith recovered five groundballs.
