When Prestun Seibel was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 3, doctors told his parents he wouldn’t make it to his fourth birthday. Fast-forward four years later, and Prestun is a 7-year-old kindergarten student at Independence Elementary. The Seibel family moved from Kansas to Horizon West six months ago to give Prestun a better chance at life — and to find better medical-care options. “He likes swimming, and the

YOUR TOWN WARRIORS EARN NATIONAL HONOR The West Orange High School band program was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award of Excellence from the National Band Association. WOHS was one of five in the United States to receive the honor. Kenneth Boyd is the band director. The NBA Programs of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award is designed to recognize those band programs that have demonstrated excellence in all facets over a sustained period of time.

The town of Oakland is holding a Celebration Among the Oaks on Saturday, April 8, to recognize Arbor Day and Easter. The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes food trucks, a petting zoo and live music. An egg hunt will take place at noon, and the Easter Bunny will make an appearance, as well.
