A proposed state law aims to keep local governments from having any say on what you grow in your front yards. The bill, known as the vegetable garden bill, is sponsored by Sen. Rob Bradley, a Republican representing District 5 in northwest Florida. Senate Bill 82, which passed SEE LAND PAGE 6

YOUR TOWN U.S. Air Force Airman Carson T. Coughlin has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Coughlin is the son of Sean C. and Adrea L. Coughlin, of Winter Garden.

City of Ocoee to sell property on Clarke Road Meritage Homes of Florida will be purchasing the 8.5-acre property to build 64 townhomes. ERIC GUTIERREZ STAFF WRITER

A new housing development could be coming to a property at the corner of Clarke and A.D. Mims roads. Ocoee commissioners voted unanimously during the March 19 meeting to approve the sale of an 8.5-acre property at the

northeast quadrant of Clarke and A.D. Mims roads. The city will be selling the property — which has been appraised for $1.105 million — to Meritage Homes of Florida for $1.1 million.
