A year after the city of Ocoee purchased property on Hackney Prairie Road for stormwater mitigation, city leaders have voted to resell a portion of it. During the Feb. 18 commission meeting, Ocoee leaders voted to sell 1.91 acres of the property, located at 8815 Hackney Prairie Road. According to city documents, SEE LAND PAGE 6

The Winter Garden Rotary Club is sponsoring a fundraiser for its medical equipment bank Tuesday, March 3, at the Garden Theatre, 160 W. Plant St., Winter Garden. The club and several sponsors are presenting “I’ll Be Me,” the story of singer/songwriter Glen Campbell and his family’s journey through dementia. Tickets are $20 for the movie only at 7 p.m. and $50 for VIP passes, which include a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Rotary Club Medical Equipment Bank has provided equipment, on loan, to families in need of items such as walkers and wheelchairs. Police investigating tree removals in Oakland Park More than a dozen trees were reportedly cut down within the community near Lake Apopka. TIM FREED MANAGING EDITOR
A Winter Garden Police Department detective is searching for the person or people who cut down 14 trees without authorization in the Oakland Park neighborhood earlier this month. According to a notice from the Oakland Park Homeowner’s
Association, a routine inspection Thursday, Feb. 13, revealed the trees were cut down near the walking trail off the bank of Lake Apopka by the east shore retention pond. The damage occurred at some point after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, according to the statement. SEE HOA PAGE 4
