OCOEE WOMAN’S CLUB TO HOST POLITICAL FORUM The GFWC Woman’s Club of Ocoee will host its annual Political Forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 6:30 p.m., in the Ocoee City Hall Commission Chambers, 150 Lakeshore Drive. Incumbent City Commissioner John Grogan will face challenger Larry B. Brinson Sr. during the forum. Grogan has held this seat since 2013. Those attending will have the opportunity to submit written questions for the candidates. The forum will be televised on Spectrum — Channel 493, and questions may be submitted during the forum.

Dozens of neighbors near the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement presented their opposition to a proposed future land-use amendment during a recent Orange County community meeting. Held Thursday, Jan. 31, at Whispering Oaks Elementary, the meeting’s topic at hand was a request to

change the future land-use designation of 9.08 acres at 3104 Avalon Road. The parcel sits just north of Avalon Road, west of Mann Road and east of Sanctuary Lake, within the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement. The land is owned by applicant VP Real Estate Inc., which has submitted a request to change the future land-use designation from SEE RESIDENTS PAGE 4
