emos escuchado frecuentemente la frase “la virtualidad llegó para quedarse”. Desde hace un poco más de un año la presencia de la pandemia global por el COVID-19 nos forzó a permanecer en casa y a pasar largas horas frente a la computadora para poder seguir activos y conectados con el resto del mundo. No sabemos bien qué forma tendrá el mundo post-pandemia, pero es seguro que esta forma de comunicarnos durante este tiempo permanecerá una vez que hemos probado y comprobado sus ventajas.

Todas las actividades de la Región Interamericana que estaban en el calendario para ser llevadas a cabo de manera presencial tuvieron que ser adaptadas para realizarse de manera virtual. No ha sido un proceso fácil para nadie. Requirió del desarrollo de nuevas habilidades tecnológicas, como aprender a utilizar la plataforma con todas sus funcionalidades y el uso de otras herramientas digitales para hacer de las sesiones unas más agradables y sobre todo más productivas.

Fue así como a lo largo de 2020 y en lo que ha transcurrido 2021 se han llevado a cabo diversas actividades virtuales que han contado con una muy buena participación de personas de la Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales de nuestra región y que han sido muy bien evaluados por los mismos. Entre ellas están: Reunión de Redes Interamericanas 2021, AMiS, Taller “Youth for Change” y el Taller Regional para el Crecimiento, por mencionar algunas. Estos y muchos otros eventos regionales nos han permitido mantenernos unidos y hacernos fuertes unos con otros. Son experiencias que si bien permiten continuar aprendiendo y compartiendo, son relevantes porque nos ponen en contacto y de esa manera mantienen vivo el Espíritu Scout.

Este boletín regional está dedicado a esas actividades virtuales que durante todos estos meses de pandemia nos han brindado la oportunidad de seguir creciendo en comunidad, de saber que aún en las adversidades podemos continuar la marcha y ver hacia delante. Agradecemos profundamente a todos los que se han sumado a ellas y que han participado activamente en las diversas sesiones poniendo lo mejor de sí.

e have often heard the phrase “virtuality is here to stay”. For a little more than a year, the presence of the global pandemic by COVID-19 forced us to stay at home and spend long hours in front of the computer; to be able to remain active and connected to the rest of the world. We do not know well what form the post-pandemic world will take, but it is certain that this way of communicating during these times will remain, especially since we have tried and tested its advantages.

All the activities to be carried out in person that were in the Interamerican Region calendar had to be adapted into virtually. It has not been an easy process for anyone. It required the development of new technological skills, such as learning to use the platform with all its functionalities and the use of other digital tools to make the sessions more enjoyable and above all more productive.

And in this way, throughout 2020 and what has gone of 2021, various virtual activities have been carried out having great participation of people from the National Scout Organizations of our region.

Those events have been evaluated them in a possitive way. Among them are: Interamerican networks meeting 2021, AMiS, “Youth For Change” workshop and the Regional Workshop for growth, to mention a few. These and many other regional events have allowed us to stand together and become strong with each other. They are experiences that allow us to continue learning and sharing, they are relevant because they put us in contact with each other and keep the Scouting spirit alive.

This regional newsletter is dedicated to those virtual activities that during all these months of pandemic have given us the opportunity to continue growing in community, to know that even in adversity we can continue the working and looking forward. We are deeply grateful to all those who have joined them and who have actively participated in the various meetings, giving the best of themselves into the activities.

TALLER REGIONAL JUVENTUD POR EL CAMBIO Y MUNDO MEJOR REGIONAL YOUTH FOR CHANGE AND BETTER WORLD WORKSHOP

E

ntendiendo que el Movimiento Scout tiene como objetivo el que los jóvenes desarrollen sus capacidades para la toma de decisiones que afectan su vida y se involucren en la toma de decisiones en los grupos e instituciones en las que participan, para que contribuyan activamente a construir un Mundo Mejor, se llevó a cabo, del 26 al 28 de junio de 2020, el taller regional Juventud por el Cambio (Youth for Change) y Mundo Mejor. El eje que se aborda bajo este concepto, al explorar “Jóvenes por el cambio”, es el diálogo intergeneracional, la participación de los jóvenes en la toma de decisiones, las habilidades para la vida y los jóvenes transformando a las comunidades.

nderstanding that scouting aims to enable young people to develop their capacities for making decisions that affect their lives and engage in decision-making in the groups and institutions in which they are involved, so that they actively contribute to creating a better world, the Regional Youth for Change and Better World workshop was held on 26th until June 28th, 2020. The core tackled under this concept of exploring “Youth for Change” is Intergenerational Dialogue, Youth Involvement in Decision-Making, Skills for Life, and Youth Changing Communities.

El taller se realizó en modalidad virtual debido a las condiciones de aislamiento y las indicaciones de salud. Con la participación de más de 80 scouts de 18 Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales de la región, el taller se impartió en español con traducción simultánea al inglés, lo que permitió a los participantes interactuar y participar constantemente entre ellos.

El gran apoyo de voluntarios y consultores de la región fue clave para entregar la agenda de tres días. Los principales objetivos del taller fueron: • Presentar el concepto de participación de los jóvenes en la toma de decisiones, con especial énfasis en el nivel comunitario.

• Comprender la integración de las iniciativas globales a través del marco Mundo Mejor.

• Presentar actualizaciones sobre el marco Mundo Mejor y las iniciativas mundiales.

• Analizar las mejores prácticas y formas de integrar el marco Mundo Mejor en el Programa de Jóvenes de la OSN de la Región Interamericana.

The workshop was held in virtual mode due to the lockdown and health indications. With the participation of +80 scouts from 18 National Scout Organisations of the Region, the workshop was delivered in Spanish with simultaneous translation to English, allowing participants to constantly be interacting and engaging among themselves.

The great support from volunteers and consultants from the region was key to deliver the 3-day agenda. The main objectives of the workshop were to: • Present the concept of participation of young people in decision-making, with special emphasis on the community level.

• Understand the integration of global initiatives through the Better World framework.

• Present updates on the Better World framework and World initiatives.

• Analyse best practices and ways to integrate the Better World framework into the NSO’s Youth Programme of the Interamerican Region.

odos los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer y comprender las actualizaciones más recientes sobre el marco Mundo Mejor, como es la iniciativa Earth Tribe, que tiene como objetivo alentar a los jóvenes líderes a tomar medidas hacia la sostenibilidad. También se hicieron grandes reflexiones en torno a la importancia del octavo elemento del Método Scout: Participación Comunitaria.

En general, el taller fue una gran oportunidad para intercambiar prácticas sobre cómo fortalecer el Programa de Jóvenes al involucrar a los miembros en el posicionamiento del Movimiento Scout como el movimiento educativo no formal líder en el mundo.

ll participants had the chance to know and undestand our most recent updates on Better World framework as the Earth Tribe initiative which aims to encourage young leaders to take action towards sustainability.

Also, great reflections were done around the importance of the 8th element of the Scout Method: Community Involvement.

Overall, the workshop was a great opportunity to exchange practices on how to strengthen the Youth Programme by engaging members towards positioning Scouting as the world’s leading non-formal educational movement.

el 1 al 3 de mayo de 2020 se llevó a cabo, de manera virtual, la Reunión de las Redes Interamericanas 2020. Con la participación de 284 personas de 27 OSN de nuestra región, se llevó a cabo esta reunión. Las 5 redes interamericanas: Jóvenes, Programa de Jóvenes, Adultos en el Movimiento Scout, Desarrollo Institucional y Comunicaciones tuvieron sesiones para abordar eventos propios de su área. Sin embargo también se llevaron a cabo reuniones conjuntas entre dos redes y sesiones plenarias.

With the participation of 284 people from 27 NSOs from our region, this meeting was held. The 5 Interamerican networks: Youth, Youth Programme, Adults in Scouting, Institutional Development and Communications had sessions to address issues specific to their areas. However, joint meetings between two networks and plenary sessions were also held.

• Consideramos pertinente contar con un Proyecto Educativo regional que sirva de referencia a las OSN para la elaboración de su Proyecto Educativo nacional.

• Reconocemos la importancia de trabajar siguiendo planes de acción que nos permitan alcanzar nuestros objetivos y medirlos. Es necesario que, como Red, impulsemos la implementación de la política mundial A Salvo de Peligro en las OSN, involucrando a todos los adultos de la organización en la conciencia de crear un entrono seguro para los niños, niñas y jóvenes y para los propios adultos.

L

a virtualidad en tiempos de pandemia en la cual nos hemos visto obligados a trabajar, ha traído muchos desafíos para nuestra región pero también muchas satisfacciones, nos ha dado la oportunidad de tener un contacto mas abierto y fluido con un número mayor de personas lo cual significa mayor intercambio, más experiencias compartidas y sobre todo más trabajo colaborativo en redes de apoyo que día a día se han ido construyendo y fortaleciendo.

Un ejemplo de esto ha sido el AMiS Interamérica, un evento para adultos de la Región Interamericana que logró poner en práctica elementos del Modelo de Gestión de Adultos de la Región Interamérica con el fin de servir de referencia para eventos nacionales con enfoques similares.

Realizar el AMiS Interamérica fue todo un desafío, que tuvo como tema central el que todos los adultos de la organización, sin importar el nivel al que pertenezcamos en la estructura o el rol que tengamos, somos parte de un sistema de gestión que debe integrarnos y dentro del cual tenemos un papel activo y para esto, es necesario que lo

irtuality in times of pandemic, in which we have been forced to work, has brought many challenges to our region but also many satisfactions, it has given us the opportunity to have a more open and fluid interaction with a greater number of people which means more sharing, more shared experiences and, above all, more collaborative work in support networks that dayto-day have been building and strengthening.

An example of this has been AMIS Interamerica, an event for adults from the Interamerican Region that managed to put into practice elements of the Adult Management Model in the Interamerican Region, in order to serve as a reference for national events with similar approaches.

Making AMIS Interamerica was a challenge, which had as its central idea all the adults of the organization, regardless of the level to which they belong in the structure or the role they have, all of them are part of the adult management system that must integrate everyone and which we have an active role and for this, it is necessary that we know it. For this reason, the sessions were

conozcamos. Por este motivo, las sesiones fueron diseñadas bajo un enfoque por competencias en el que cada participante tenía una ruta de aprendizaje propia de acuerdo con el nivel funcional de su cargo en su Organización Scout Nacional. De esta manera, buscábamos que cada persona accediera a la temática que más le aportaba para el desarrollo de las competencias propias de su trabajo.

Otro de los aspectos importantes en la logística, fue invitar a facilitadores competentes para diseñar, preparar y entregar sesiones en los temas en los que cada uno es experto en coherencia con el rol de formador que propone el modelo de Gestión de Adultos en el que cada tema tiene un experto diferente y no un solo formador facilitando todos los temas.

Es así, como 34 voluntarios de la Región Interamérica y 9 profesionales de la Oficina Scout Mundial de los Centros de Apoyo Global, de Europa e Interamérica, trabajamos en conjunto durante dos meses para realizar 29 sesiones virtuales repartidas en tres rutas de aprendizaje: nivel local o de aplicación de programa: Educadores Scout, Responsables de Unidad, Jefes de Grupo, Padres de Familia y similares; nivel intermedio

designed under a competency-based approach in which each participant had their own learning path according to the functional level of their position in their National Scout Organization. In this way, we wanted each person to access the topic that most contributed to the development of their skills of their work.

Another important aspect in Logistics was to invite competent facilitators to design, prepare and deliver sessions on the topics in which each one is an expert in coherence with the role of trainer proposed by the Adult Management model in which each topic has a different expert and not a single trainer facilitating all the topics.

That is how, 34 volunteers from the Interamerica Region and 9 professionals from the World Scout Bureau from the Global Supper Centres of Europe and Interamerica, worked together for two months to carry out 29 virtual sessions distributed over three routes of learning: local level or of implementation of the program:Scout Educators, Unit Responsible, Group Leaders, Parents, and the like; intermediate level or support processes: Trainers, personal M U N D U S

816 adultos de 24 OSN de la región se dieron cita durante 3 días para hablar sobre temas como: competencias, formación, aplicación de Programa de Jóvenes, evaluación por competencias, retención, selección, coaching, mentoría, gestión del conocimiento, gamificación, andragogía,

asesoría personal, plan estratégico, salud mental y bienestar, A Salvo del Peligro, entre otros. Este intercambio permitió que los participantes crearan redes de comunicación y apoyo que han estado muy activos durante estos tiempos de pandemia, dando lugar a otros eventos e iniciativas que las OSN han creado por su cuenta posteriormente.

Otra de las innovaciones del AMiS Interamérica fueron los IARTalk, un formato de presentaciones tipo TED en las que 3 OSN de la región presentaron sus experiencias en la implementación del Sistema de Gestión de Adultos con el fin de

training Advisors, territorial animators, district commissioners, zone or the like; national level or level of management: Executive officers, Directors and members of the national teams of all the strategic areas of the NSOs, in particular of Educational Methods, Adults in Scouting and Youth Programme.

Another innovation of AMIS Interamerica was the IARTalk, TED like format presentations in which 3 NSOs from the region presented their experiences in the implementation of the Adult Management System in order to inspire and show that it is possible

Uno de los momentos más destacados fue la sesión de cierre en la que se lanzó el video “Scouts in Time” que hace un recuento de todos los difíciles momentos que la humanidad ha tenido que afrontar en los últimos 100 años y como los Scouts hemos sobrevivido a cada uno de ellos y nos inspira a seguir fuertes en esta pandemia para que juntos podamos lograrlo.

AMiS Interamérica nos dejó grandes lecciones: Que el trabajo en equipo acompañado de compromiso, motivación y propósito trae grandes resultados, que somos una región fuerte y capaz de adaptarse a las circunstancias y a enfrentar los desafíos con innovación, creatividad y diversión, que el cambio es posible cuando nos permitimos hacer las cosas de manera diferente y le damos la posibilidad a que nuevas personas lleguen a aportar sus ideas y perspectivas y que la gratitud y el reconocimiento a quienes trabajan en una organización como la nuestra es la moneda más valiosa con la que podemos pagar el trabajo de nuestros voluntarios.

En tiempos como estos, en los que la incertidumbre de lo que está por venir y los cambios constantes nos siguen desafiando, solo nos queda continuar trabajando con esa esperanza de un mundo mejor con la que los Scouts siempre vamos, pero sobre todo con acción, porque ese mundo mejor sea una realidad para todos. Determinación más acción es igual a resultados y de nada nos sirve seguir soñando si no ponemos acción y propósito en cada cosa que hacemos. AMiS Interamerica fue el resultado de eso, y esperamos que haya servido de inspiración para que cada participante continúe en acción en beneficio de cada niña, niño y joven de la Región Interamérica.

One of the highlights was the closing session in which the video “Scouts in time” was released which recounts all the difficult moments that humanity has had to face in the last 100 years and how the Scouts have survived each one of them and it inspires us to remain strong in this pandemic so that together we can overcome it.

AMiS Interamerica left us great lessons: That team work accompanied by commitment, motivation and purpose brings great results, that we are a region strong and capable to adapt to the circumstances and to address challenges with innovation, creativity and fun, that change is possible when we allow ourselves to do things differently and to give the opportunity to new people arriving to contribute with their ideas and perspectives, and that the gratitude and recognition to those who work in an organization such as ours is the most valuable currency with which we can pay for the work of our volunteers.

In times like these, in which the uncertainty of what it is to come and the constant changes continue to challenge us, we only have left to continue working with the hope of a better world with which the Scouts always go, but above all with action, for that better world to be a reality for all. Determination plus action is equal to results and it is of no use to keep dreaming if we do not put action and purpose in everything we do. AMiS Interamerica was the result of that, and we hope it has served as an inspiration for each participant to continue in action for the benefit of every child and youth in the Interamerican region.

TALLER REGIONAL PARA EL CRECIMIENTO REGIONAL GROWTH WORKSHOP

E

n los fines de semana 19-20 y 26- 27 de Septiembre del 2020 se llevó a cabo el primer taller virtual para el Crecimiento en la Región Scout Interamericana.

Con la presencia de 149 participantes provenientes de 25 Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales de la Región Interamericana se realizaron con todo éxito las sesiones en dos fines de semana consecutivos.

Cada una de las OSN participantes organizó su propia “patrulla”, designando a quien asumiría el papel de liderarla en los trabajos a realizar.

El primer fin de semana se presentaron los 7 ingredientes para el Crecimiento, contenidos en la caja de herramientas publicada por la Organización Mundial del Movimiento Scout en 2019.

n the weekends of September 19-20 and 26-27, 2020, the first virtual Workshop for Growth in the Interamerican Scout Region was held.

With the presence of 149 participants from 25 National Scout Organizations in the Interamerican Region, the sessions were held successfully on two consecutive weekends.

Each of the participating from their NSOs organized its own ”patrol”, appointing who would assume the role of leader into their work.

The first weekend 7 ingredients for Growth were presented. All ingredients are contained in the toolbox published by the World Organization of Scout Movement in 2019.

Estas sesiones permitieron que los participantes conocieran a profundidad cada uno de estos ingredientes y que con este conocimiento pudieran trabajar definiendo los objetivos y las acciones que colocarían en su estrategia para el Crecimiento. Los 7 ingredientes son: • Establecer un objetivo y planear el Crecimiento • Programa de Jóvenes • Adultos en el Movimiento Scout • Comunicaciones

• Alianzas Estratégicas • Organización fuerte • Captación y llegar a más

De manera que durante la semana tuvieron que interactuar los equipos por OSN para que fuera enviada su propuesta de estrategia para el Crecimiento y así el personal profesional de la Oficina Regional y los consultores que expusieron los ingredientes la revisaran e hicieran sus comentarios en las sesiones del siguiente fin de semana.

La respuesta de las OSN participantes fue casi perfecta, de las 25, 24 de ellas enviaron su propuesta y eso permitió preparar la segunda parte de la sesión de parte de cada uno de los responsables de las mismas. Cada uno de los ingredientes fue analizado pero ahora con las aportaciones de las OSN. Fueron sesiones sumamente interactivas en las que las OSN aportaban mayor información sobre los aspectos que habían sido identificados como muy relevantes.

These sessions allowed participants to get to know each of these ingredients in depth and with this knowledge they could work defining the objectives and actions they would place in their strategy for Growth. The 7 ingredients are: • Set a goal and plan for Growth • Youth Programme • Adults in Scouting • Communications

• Strategic Alliances • Strong organization • Recruitment and reaching out more

During the week the teams had to interact with their fellow teammates of their NSOS, and work in their proposal for a Growth Strategy. This way the professional staff of the Regional Support Centre and the consultants who exposed the ingredients would review it and make their comments in the sessions of the second weekend.

The response of the NSOs participating was almost perfect, out of the 25, 24 sent their proposal and that made it possible to prepare the second part of the session by each of the responsibles for the proposals. Each of the ingredients was analyzed but now with the contributions of the NSOs. They were highly interactive sessions in which NSOs provided more information on the aspects that had been identified as very relevant.

CAMPUS VIRTUAL SCOUT VIRTUAL SCOUT CAMPUS REGIÓN INTERAMERICANA INTERAMERICAN REGION El Campus Virtual Scout para la Región Interamericana es un espacio virtual desarrollado para la formación, construcción colectiva y el trabajo en redes de los adultos que hacen parte del Movimiento Scout Mundial en cualquier rol y Organización Scout Nacional (OSN) a la que pertenezcan.

Es un espacio abierto que ofrece fácil acceso a la información para el desarrollo y mejoramiento de las competencias y el fortalecimiento y crecimiento de las OSN. Virtual Scout Campus for Interamerican Region is a virtual space developed for the training, collective construction and networking of adults who are part of the World Scout Movement in any role and National Scout Organization (NSOs) to which they belong.
