Improving Nutrition for Young Kids

I K E M A N Y PA R E N T S in rural Honduras, Lourdes and her husband faced challenges accessing healthcare for their young son, Kerin. Poverty and a lack of nutritious food have increased the risk of child malnutrition in their community. For a long time, Lourdes would take Kerin to a health centre outside their community when he needed care. Lourdes’s husband worked long hours driving a moto taxi and wasn’t always available to help bring Kerin to the centre. The walk was challenging for Lourdes, especially during the rainy season. “I made the effort because I care about my child’s development, but it was very difficult,” Lourdes shared. When Lourdes learned about a health program in her community led by one of World Renew’s local partners, she jumped at the chance to join. Through the program, Lourdes learned how to improve Kerin’s nutrition and give him vitamins to support his health and growth.
With these tools, Lourdes feels more confident in protecting her son’s health and planning for his future needs.
