WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps’ United Against Racism Conference — November 2020
In November 2020, the WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps conducted its largest online event to date: the United Against Racism Global Conference, empowering and training the WJC JDCorps members on the importance of building personal and organizational alliances with other communities to address all forms of discrimination and hatred.
WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps members conducted outreach to dozens of organizations, with the purpose of taking the lessons they’ve learned back to their communities to interact directly on a local level with fellow faith and minority communities.
The conference included 17 sessions by close to 500 participants, with speakers representing different communities worldwide. In his address to participants, WJC President Lauder said: “The more we talk about antisemitism as another form of racism, the stronger we are.”
Other speakers of note included President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Derrick Johnson, the Grand Mufti Emeritus of Bosnia; and Azza Karam, SecretaryGeneral of Religions for Peace International, among others. Dr. Susannah Herschel (Eli Black Professor of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College), Member of WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps Randy Fried, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner (Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism), and Professor Cornell William Brooks (Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership and Social Justice at Harvard University and former President & CEO of the NAACP) take part in a panel discussion on the African-American Jewish civil rights alliance, during the WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps’ United Against Racism conference, November 2020
