Water Matters to Education
Augusta’s story illustrates one of the most common barriers between girls and their access to education: the amount of time they must spend performing household duties before they can go—a duty that often includes collecting water.
When girls are forced to travel long distances to find water, it can not only impact their safety, but can result in them arriving late at school and, eventually, falling behind in their studies or being forced to stop their attendance.
