Growth in county staff

Figure 5.1 shows the growth in county employment since FY2015/16 as a proportion of the current (FY2019/20) total. While most counties have added staff since the start of devolution, increases have been especially notable in the ASALs, such as Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir Counties. These increases in staffing reflect the extent to which counties are responding to demand for services as well as the increased funding available at the county level.
