LIMASSOL CARNIVAL An explosion of fun and color, the Limassol Carnival is certainly a sight to behold. It starts 10 days before Lent, when musicians and dancers fill the streets and squares, and dress-up parties are hosted across town, and culminates in the big Sunday Parade, a day before the start of Lent. The day-long event takes place all along Makarios Avenue in Limassol, with revelers dancing away all through the night.

LIMASSOL WINE FESTIVAL This annual 11-day festival is held at the end of August and start of September at the Limassol Municipal Gardens, attracting more than 100,000 visitors each year. The four major wineries in Cyprus as well as a number of small independent producers are all present at the Wine Festival, offering visitors a taste of their wares in unlimited amounts. Visitors can also enjoy traditional foods such as kebabs, smoked herring, ‘loukoumades’ and other delicacies, revel in local Cypriot song and dance, and participate in traditional grape-stomping.

LIMASSOL MARATHON The OPAP Limassol Marathon is one of the island’s largest sporting events, which takes place in March of each year. Known for its flat terrain, covering much of Limassol’s picturesque coastal road, it is an ideal event for runners of all levels, and a perfect opportunity for serious runners to achieve their personal best. RUSSIAN-CYPRIOT FESTIVAL For the past 12 years, the Russian Embassy in Cyprus, the Limassol Municipality and the Russian newspaper Vestnik Kipra combine forces to organize the biggest event in the EU dedicated to friendship with Russia. The Russian-Cypriot Festival, which takes place every June, aims to celebrate the close relationships between the two cultures, and includes exhibitions from more than 70 companies, as well as performances by Cypriot and Russian dancers, singers and musicians.
CYPRUS FILM DAYS An annual festival beloved by cinephiles across the island, Cyprus Film Days is organized by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture together with the Rialto Theater of Limassol in April of each year.
