SALT HARVESTING EXPERIENCE
Embark on a journey to nearby salt flats with a chef, where you will learn how ancient Hawaiians harvested salt decades ago. You will then be led through a private, interactive cooking class incorporating the salt into your dishes and learning the ways salt was traditionally used in Hawaiian cooking. The salts are also used in the Salts of the Ocean body treatment at the Huala - lai Spa.
KONA COFFEE FARM & TASTING EXPERIENCE
The Coffee Experience is an invitation for our guests to be immersed in something that is unique to the island of Hawai‘i. You will be guided through our local coffees, from bean to cup. LA‘I SKIRT MAKING
Ti leaves are made into a full skirt, popular with many hula dancers in the 40’s. Guests can learn how this traditional style of skirt is made, as many schools of hula (halau), still practice today in show and competition.
‘UKELELE LESSONS
Learn how to play the ‘ukulele from one of the Resort’s Mea Ho‘okipa (host) and hear stories about the history of this instrument in Hawai‘i, introduced by the Portuguese in the 19th century.

NIGHT MANTA SNORKEL
The Kona coast has over 200 resident Manta Rays that are up to 16ft from wing tip to wing tip. Manta Rays have no barb or stinger and feed through a filter making swimming with these gentle giants safe. Once on location, guests will enter the water once the sun has set and hold onto a shared device that has lights attached to the bottom. These lights illuminate the plankton in the water which attract the Manta Rays to feed right below you in one barrel roll after another.

When the adults enjoy the Resort, our younger guests can attend daily programs at Camp Manitou at Huala - lai –an exclusive partnership with the heralded Camp Manitou, one of the nation’s foremost summer camps, founded in Maine in 1947.
Designed for younger guests, the camp features outstanding programs and staff focused on group bonding through cultural, recreational, and exploration activities both at the Resort and throughout the island of Hawai‘i. Single day or multiple day options are available and limited to 10–12 campers on any given day. Each morning,
the campers get dropped off at headquarters, where the day starts with various water activities, breakfast, and a ceremonial flag raising. Activities include pizza making, lava tube swims, rock jumping, hikes, and much more. At day's end, parents reconvene to hear about the day, then head off together to spend the rest of the evening as a family.
