The year in pictures

Left and centre left: ‘Little Wanderers’ (December) and ‘Spring Steps’ (April). Activities for families are at the heart of the new Wordsworth Grasmere experience, in the Learning Space, the Garden–Orchard (both pictured), the other outdoor areas and the Museum.

Centre right: the Disparate Romantics talks took place throughout the year, allowing close interaction with the manuscripts. Dr Kerri Andrews discussed her new book Wanderers: A History of Women Walking with Professor Simon Bainbridge and Jeff Cowton in November.
Bottom: the first exhibition in the new Museum, Still Glides the Stream, marked two centuries since the publication of Wordsworth’s Duddon Sonnets. The project brought together artists, community groups, musicians and partner arts organisations.
Opposite: the new Museum received an overwhelmingly positive response in its first year of opening, with visitors using words like ‘fabulous’, ‘thought-provoking’, ‘memorable’, ‘inspiring’ and ‘joyous’. (Image: Tom McNally Photography)
