Foundation for Rural Service scholarship awarded
Jackson Sims, a graduate of Colleton Preparatory Academy in Walterboro, was awarded the Foundation for Rural Service Roger Cox Scholarship, sponsored by NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association.
Jackson, the son of Dr. Lance and Liz Sims, of Walterboro, will attend Clemson University where he will pursue an undergraduate degree in biology, with plans to attend medical school. “My dad’s a doctor, so I plan to follow in his footsteps,” Jackson says.
The FRS annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA member company, such as PRTC, to be eligible.
FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception, empowering students in rural areas throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skills and experiences. This year, FRS received over 1,100 applications for the 42 scholarships it awarded.
