Murray s Turkeys Worcester Country Club Thanksgiving orders will have Murray’s family farmed turkeys on the menu! They are locally raised without antibiotics and are fed an all-vegetable feed free of animal fats and animal by-products. No growth drugs or hormones. Incidentally, all of the chicken products that come out of the WCC kitchen all come from Murray’s as well and are raised the same way. MANHATTAN RECIPE

The Manhattan is one of the oldest, and finest cocktails. Not to mention one of my favorites to make, and drink! It's staying power and popularity since arriving on the cocktail scene in the late 1800's, proves it is a real classic. It seems that we are no exception; the Manhattan is the most ordered cocktail from the WCC bar. The Manhattan is made with a simple recipe that requires just a few ingredients - whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters, with cherries to garnish. Rye whiskey is the traditional choice for the base spirit, but depending on your preference, bourbon or Canadian whisky can be used. The ever-growing mainstream presence of bourbon has made it a popular choice for cocktails, often taking the place of the rye in modern times. The first recipe, in 1870, used American rye whiskey, Italian sweet vermouth, angostura bitters. During Prohibition, Canadian whisky was most popular since it was more readily available. There are many ways to adapt the Manhattan to your personal taste, but let's start with the original.

Ingredients: 2 oz whiskey 1 oz sweet vermouth 2-3 dashes aromatic bitters cherry for garnish 1. Pour ingredients in to cocktail shaker or mixing glass 2. Add ice and stir to mix pro tip: always add ingredients to shaker or mixing glass first, then add ice when ready to mix.

This prevents any cocktail from getting watered down before all ingredients are added, and gives a clear eye to how much of the ingredients are in the shaker or glass. pro tip #2: never shake a whiskey cocktail, always stir. The most common exception is when citrus is present in the recipe. Other exceptions include cream liqueurs or egg whites present in the recipe.

3. Pour strained cocktail into glass of choice. "straight up" in martini glass or coupe (most common) "on the rocks" over ice in a short glass "down" or "neat" in a short glass with no ice 4. Garnish with a cherry or 2 Here are some of my ingredient recommendations, also used at the WCC bar: RYE Templeton Whistle Pig SWEET VERMOUTH Carpano Antica Formula BITTERS Angostura aromatic CHERRIES: Luxardo maraschino cherries Just like any drink or cocktail, you can substitute any ingredient for the brand or variety of your choice.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING AT THE PRO SHOP Greetings, As we head into the holiday season it is certain that this year will be different than any other before. With that being known we are preparing for the upcoming shopping season with the safety and wellbeing of everyone in mind. You will find our holiday schedule with our hours of operation on the next page.

We encourage everyone to complete their holiday shopping early this season if possible. Avoiding the last minute rush or any possible disruptions to normal business operations would be beneficial to everyone.

In addition to normal operations we are also offering the following: Shopping by appointment - You can schedule a 45 minute block of time for you and your family members to have the pro shop exclusively.

Two separation sessions - Wednesday through Friday at 9 and 9:45am.

The pro shop will open at 10:30 for regular shopping with a maximum of 8 people at any one time until closing at 4:00pm.

We are also offering virtual shopping by appointment.

Virtual shopping can be arranged via phone, FaceTime, or Google Meets.

Your purchases can be gift wrapped and left in your locker, delivered to your home or office, or left on the front porch of the pro shop for contactless shopping.
