From your Superintendent

We are excited to announce that Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Shaun Mitchell has recently been offered, and accepted, the position of Golf Course Superintendent at Whitinsville Golf Club. Whitinsville Golf Club is ranked by Golfweek in the top 100 classic golf courses in the country, and by Golf Digest as one of the top two 9-hole golf course in the country as well. Shaun’s dedication, passion and work ethic have put him in an elite class. This is a great opportunity, and Shaun will be missed here at WCC. Below is a note from Shaun to the Members of Worcester Country Club: “I wanted to take this opportunity and thank the entire membership, especially the ones I have connected with personally over the past five years. Your support is unparalleled, and greatly appreciated by the entire maintenance staff. Worcester has been a great opportunity and has given me avenues to connect with great people and further develop my golf course management practices. I’d also like to thank Golf Course Superintendent, Adam Moore for always being supportive, direct, an excellent mentor and most of all a friend. I look forward to what this next step has in store and hope to stay in contact, and keep friendships alive, with all the great people at WCC” -Shaun Mitchell

Welcome Bob Landers

Moving forward, we will be promoting Bob Landers to the position of Lead Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. Bob started at Worcester Country Club in 2008 just after graduating from Doherty High School in Worcester. While attending Quinsigamond Community College, and working on the grounds staff, Bob developed a passion for golf course/turfgrass management. After attaining his Associates Degree from Quinsigamond Community College, Bob later received his Certification in Turfgrass Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. From 2012 to 2014, Bob took a great opportunity as a Lawn Care Technician and Equipment Manager for a local company where he was responsible for the safe application of fertilizer, and plant protectant materials to residential and commercial properties. In the fall of 2014, I recruited Bob back to Worcester Country Club to serve as our Irrigation and Spray Technician. He was quickly promoted to Second Assistant Superintendent in 2015, a role that he has been in since. Upon Shaun Mitchell’s departure we will be able to make a seamless transition into the 2019 golf season with Bob Landers filling the Lead Assistant role. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and hope everyone is enjoying their winter. Adam Moore Golf Course Superintendent
