Worcester Country Club

President's Annual Report - Tom Brady

Dear Members of Worcester Country Club,

As we gather for our Annual Meeting, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the past year and express my sincere gratitude to the many individuals who contribute to the strength and success of Worcester Country Club

First, I extend my deepest thanks to our Board of Governors for their leadership, thoughtful stewardship, and unwavering commitment to upholding the traditions and values that define our club. Their guidance continues to position Worcester Country Club for a strong and vibrant future.

I would also like to recognize our committee members, whose generosity of time and expertise plays a vital role in enhancing the member experience. Your efforts – often behind the scenes – help shape the programs, events, and overall atmosphere that make our Club so special.

To our outgoing Board members, Steve DeMartino, Greg Galeaz, Mark Herlihy and AJ Andreoli, thank you for your dedicated service. Your contributions have left a lasting mark on Worcester Country Club, and we are deeply appreciative of the care and energy you have given during your tenure. Likewise, Dave Gow warrants an enormous thank you for navigating the Club through the tail-end of Covid and the Hanse renovation as the Grounds Chair for the past five years. Great work Dave!

A very special thank you goes to our staff. Their professionalism, dedication, and genuine hospitality are the foundation of our daily experience at the Club. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure that every visit is memorable, and we are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding team representing Worcester Country Club. As we all know, a truly dedicated staff begins at the top and Troy Sprister epitomizes commitment to the club and every member experience.

Interest in Membership at Worcester Country Club has never been higher. New Members and Members looking to transfer into the Active category have kept the club’s Membership levels near capacity. Membership Director Lori Cook and the Membership Development Committee have strived to find ways to continually attract new members and now manage a waiting list to get in!

Golf rounds remain strong as there is a growing interest in the course after the completion of the Hanse plan. Adam Moore and is team keep the course in amazing shape and Andy Lane’s professional staff manage the high interest as to keep First tee access easily available. With Guest play increasing and over 90 club events throughout the year, these two gentlemen make it feel like you are playing in a Major every day. Their incorporation of the 100th anniversary of the 1925 US Open into our annual experience whet our anticipation as to what will come with the centennial of the 1927 Ryder Cup!

Our Food & Beverage operations at the club were very strong last year. Interest and participation in both our restaurants and banquets have kept the clubhouse full and the kitchen busy. Chef Craig Cobb and the kitchen crew continue to produce mouthwatering entrees with his subtle flair.

Finally, I would like to thank our entire membership for your continued support and engagement. Your pride in the Club, your participation, and your sense of community is what make Worcester Country Club such a remarkable place. Together, we honor our traditions while continuing to build a bright and exciting future.

Thank you all for being an integral part of Worcester Country Club.

Sincerely,

Treasurer Report- Peter Stevens

Dear Fellow Member,

Enclosed you will find a copy of the Club’s unaudited Statements of Financial Position and Statements of Activities for the years ended February 28, 2026, and 2025. The Club agreed again this year to an audit schedule with its auditors Bollus Lynch whereby the audited financial statements may not be completed prior to the Annual Meeting and as such the financials presented are not yet final and subject to adjustments. We hope to have a near final draft posted to the Club’s website for viewing prior to the meeting and you will be notified when the final audited statements are available.

FY 2026 was a good year for the club from an income perspective with total operating revenue up 6% to $8.25M as we continue to ride strong membership numbers. However, operating expenses were up 7.4% resulting in a reduction of our year-over-year net operating income from $87K in FY’25 to an operating loss of $24K. A note here about the accounting, on the accompanying statements, our auditors include interest expense on the “Hanse Plan” loan in operating expenses. If you take that out, our operating income for the year would be $64K, which is still down vs prior year and budget, but is at least in the black and meets the minimum goal we set for ourselves.

The club continues to feel inflationary pressures throughout our operations. This was most noticeable in our restaurant & beverage expenses, which rose by 12% on revenue growth of less than 9%. If you include HWH, pool and activities revenues and expenses with restaurant and beverage, the club experienced a net loss of $153K in our non-golf services. While clubs don’t generally expect to be profitable in these areas, our average loss for the previous 3 years was $46K, so FY’26 represented a significant decline in our non-golf economics that we will need to address/watch in the coming year.

Net income, which includes initiation fees, capital expense fees and depreciation expense, was $282K, down slightly vs last year’s $358K and from the budget, which was $317K. Still, this is a very healthy bottom line which allowed us to “over” invest in our capital spending at ~$1.2M this past year. The club’s balance sheet remains strong, though we still have $2.4M outstanding on the bank loan taken out in 2024 to finance the Hanse plan. On February 28, the Club had $2.1M in cash in its accounts, of which $795K is FY ’27 dues paid in advance. As such, the club’s true cash reserve at the start of the FY ’27 year is approximately $1.3M, same as it was at the start of the year.

The budget for FY ’27 projects a similar year for the club with Operating Income of $38K and Net Income of $235K. Combined with our strong cash position, this will allow us to continue to invest in capital projects, including the development of a master plan for the club with a yet to be determined 3rd party advisor.

I would like to thank Troy Sprister and Lynne Westerlind for all of their hard work and support during the past year. I would also like to thank Greg Galeaz and the members of the Finance Committee for the outstanding work they put in as well.

Respectfully submitted,

Finance Committee Report - Greg Galeaz

Dear Fellow Members,

Fiscal 2026 was another strong year for Worcester Country Club. Our revenue exceeded our budget by $104k and grew over the prior year by $458k. Dues revenue remained strong throughout the year as our membership continues to grow. The golf course continues to be the centerpiece as play continues to be high and guest rounds continue to grow. As a result, golf and golf related revenues continued to exceed plan.

Restaurant, Half-Way House, Pool and Activities net loss continued to be above our budget and not meet our expectations. This has let us increase pricing on our offerings to bring the net loss closer to break even. In hindsight, we should have increased our prices last year to offset increased operating costs and usage shortfalls. This will continue to be a focus this coming year, and future increases are a possibility.

Operating Income for the year was $64k; short of our budget by $97k and less than last year by $136k. the primary drivers of the shortfall were the food and beverage challenges noted above as well as some unbudgeted increased operating and payroll costs.

Total other income of $218k beat budget by $61k due to continue strong initiation revenue. We will need to be mindful of this area going into next year if we experience low member turnover and continue to be at capacity in terms of membership levels.

Net income for the year was $282k versus a plan of $318k. Overall a very sold year.

Our balance sheet remains strong. Our cash balance remains strong. Our cash balance was $2.1m. This amount includes over $600k of annual dues paid in advance of the club’s invoice for FY27.

Our loan for the Hanse Plan began amortizing during the year. We paid off $129k during the year. The loan will continue to be paid off at a very favorable rate.

Our Capex spending for the year was $1.245m. This represented approximately $400k of additional spend above our annual capital dues to bring down the balance of deferred capex spending identified several years back.

Overall FY25 was a solid year. Our club has a strong financial position with a strong management team that runs a good operation and provides our membership with a quality product across the board.

I want to thank Troy and his entire management team for all their efforts in delivering strong financial results. Please thank them when you have the opportunity.

Worcester Country Club is a special place. We need to honor it by continuing to provide the team with the funds needed to continue to keep it that way.

It has been a pleasure and honor chairing the FinCom for the past 3 years. I look forward to continuing to enjoy our historic gem for many years to come.

Best,

Dear Fellow Members,

Worcester Country Club – 2025 Golf Operations Summary The 2025 golf season at Worcester Country Club continued to demonstrate exceptional strength in member engagement, operational execution, and program quality, building on the record-setting momentum of 2024. Rounds & Demand

Worcester CC sustained historically high utilization, recording 21,100 rounds in 2025, just shy of the 2024 record of 22,267 rounds. This slight decline can largely be attributed to unfavorable spring weather, including 14 consecutive rainy Saturdays. Absent these conditions, demand trends indicate the Club would likely have surpassed the prior record.

Importantly, this performance remains well above historical norms, with pre-COVID averages (~2014–2019) of approximately 18,000 rounds, reinforcing that Worcester CC has structurally shifted into a higher-demand operating environment.

Just a fantastic job by Andy and his staff to keep operations running smoothly throughout the 2025 season, even with the rainy start to support 21,000 rounds of golf.

Operational Excellence & 1st Tee Management

Building on innovations introduced in 2024, the Club continues to set a benchmark for first tee access management and pace of play control. Enhanced staff structure, consistent starter presence, and use of tee sheet optimization tools have resulted in:

• Minimal delays despite near-capacity utilization

• Strong member satisfaction around access fairness

• Effective use of communication tools (e.g., Member Text platform)

The Club’s systems and practices have become best-in-class, with other clubs beginning to replicate Worcester’s model. We will continue to monitor and improve check in at the first tee during the busiest windows to ensure smooth operations and reduce any possible delays.

Tournaments, Events & Engagement

Worcester CC remains one of the most active private clubs in Massachusetts:

• 132 Events, Outings, & Tournaments. Does not include Sweeps and WAGS. Number goes close 200 if you factor that in.

• Almost 50% of rounds are associated with organized play; events, leagues, tournaments, or outings

• July/August in 2025, out of a possible 18 weekend days, we had only 4 days without a major tournament scheduled. In 2026, we have 7 open weekend days out of 18 in July/August by moving the Invitational to June. A win for the course, membership access, and staff.

The Club continues to host high-profile events, including elite regional competitions and the growing Crusader Invitational, with the second collegiate event his past year.

Complementing formal competition, member-led groups such as WAGS saw strong participation and increasing demographic diversity, reflecting healthy engagement across age groups.

Player Achievement & Recognition

The Club celebrated excellence across all levels of play:

• Club Champions: Taylor Fontaine, Erin O’Hara, Mike Higgins, Wyatt Rue

• Players of the Year: Kyle Alexander (Men’s), Carol Shustak (Ladies)

• Multiple hole-in-one achievements; Dr. Phil Lahey (13) Margaret McKenna (13) Ann Marie Rousseau (8)

At the professional level, Head Golf Professional Andy Lane, PGA, received the NEPGA Massachusetts Youth Player Development Award, underscoring the Club’s leadership in junior golf development.

Junior Golf Program

The junior program remains a cornerstone strategic asset and a key differentiator for the Club:

• Continued growth in competitive success (interclub wins, state championships, national qualifications)

• Strong participation despite a constrained calendar

• Increasing recognition as one of the premier junior programs in Massachusetts

This program is directly contributing to long-term membership pipeline strength and Club identity.

Caddie Program & Ouimet Partnership

The caddie program reached new levels of scale and impact:

• 140–150 caddies annually, with a waitlist

• 21 Ouimet Scholars, with ~$187,000 in funding support

• Ouimet covering ~62% of demonstrated financial need

Pat Keefe has led operational improvements (training programs, scheduling systems, communication cadence) have enhanced both caddie experience and retention. Continued fundraising remains an opportunity to further support scholars and strengthen this flagship program with our bag tag program.

Staffing & Professional Development

The Professional Staff continues to be a major competitive advantage:

• Multiple regional awards and recognitions

• Successful mentoring and PGA certifications

• Strategic hiring (e.g., Teaching Professional) expanding instructional capacity

• Strong internship pipeline supported by housing partnerships

These investments have enabled Worcester CC to scale operations without compromising service quality.

Communication & Member Experience

The Club has built a robust communication ecosystem:

• Weekly event visibility via “The W” (high engagement metrics)

• Real-time updates through Member Text platform

• Transparent communication around course access and activity levels

This proactive approach has reduced friction and improved overall member satisfaction in a high-demand environment. We will continue to evaluate the Cap Patrol software but will include some additional oversight this coming year.

Strategic Initiatives & Looking Ahead

Early planning is underway for the 2027 Ryder Cup Centennial celebration, with incredible support from the PGA of America. This will be a global celebration of the heritage of Worcester Country Club. The PGA of Americas have committed significant resources to support this centennial celebration of what has become one of the most prestigious sporting events. We look forward to a week long celebration with the PGA, past host golf clubs, our members and the entire golf community. Details below:

• The Ryder Cup Centennial Committee is excited to announce a collaboration with the PGA of America to put on a once in a lifetime Centennial Celebration of the great sporting event in the world of golf - The Ryder Cup.

• This event will take place June 6-10, 2027 and will feature an opportunity for several WCC members to play in a Ryder Cup Style competition with the other past host sites. The festivities have been created with the WCC membership in mind. In addition to our members being invited to watch the team matches, we will host a club wide welcome reception kick off party on Sunday evening.

• With the PGA of Americas help we have extended an invitation to every living Ryder Cup Captain both on the US and European sides to join us for the festivities. Monday, June 7, 2027, we will host an exhibition match with the former Ryder Cup Captains at WCC followed by a wonderful centennial gala hosted by the PGA of America to celebrate all 31 Ryder Cup captains in the greater Boston area.

• Only one golf course in the world has the privilege of hosting this event, and Worcester Country Club is committed to delivering it at the highest standard. The goal is to create an experience that every member will be proud to be associated with, honoring the Club’s rich history and tradition. Additional details will be shared with the membership as plans continue to develop.

• Worcester CC has extended invitations to every facility around the world that has hosted a Ryder Cup or will host the event in the near future to join us as part of this celebration. Each facility team will be comprised of their PGA Professional and three representatives from their club.

Respectfully,

Mike Higgins, Bryan McDavitt, Julie Koslowski, Sherri Cotter, Jim Norris, Thomas Prokop, Brian Johnson. Committee members

Membership Development - Steve DeMartino

To the Membership:

I’m excited to report that Worcester Country Club is thriving with a strong membership. The Club continues to ride the positive momentum of the Hanse Plan and renovation of the golf course. Our Pool and Dining experience also contributed to new member interest, resulting in a growing waitlist year over year.

We welcome 35 new members over the course of the fiscal year ending February 28, 2026. We welcomed 11 new members on March 1, 2026 to begin our new fiscal year which covered our normal year end resignations. The Club has 380 active golfing members and 78 Social members. The Club’s resignations to start the new fiscal year were less than normal, a great indication of the health and quality of the membership. For the third year in a row, we successfully voted to increase initiation fees across all categories.

The Committee continues to ask all existing members to invite potential new members to the Club. Our best new members are those referred by existing members. Lori Cook, the Club’s Director of Membership Development, has marketing materials to provide prospective new members and is available for in person meetings and tours. We will send correspondence on membership information and initiatives through our member texting program and our weekly newsletters which may include prospective new member golf days, cocktail parties, and other initiatives. We should continue to promote our historic Donald Ross golf course and the Hanse Plan renovation, our family friendly pool, and children’s activities which include a very successful and growing junior golf and swimming programs.

Lori continues to do an excellent job with this very important role that helps us sustain our excellence as a club. We are not immune to the uncertainties of the marketplace and economy. So please continue to advocate WCC and bring forward prospective new members to the Committee and Lori.

Our committee would like to take this opportunity to again welcome all new members and their families who joined WCC this past year:

Grounds Report - David Gow

Dear Fellow Members,

On behalf of Adam Moore and his team, we are delighted to welcome all members back to Worcester Country Club for the 2026 golf season and to reflect on another outstanding year for our newly restored golf course.

The 2025 season built beautifully on the momentum of the 2024 reopening, as the course continued to earn high praise from members and visitors alike. Under Adam Moore’s leadership, marking his 10th year as Superintendent and his 18th season at Worcester Country Club the course achieved new heights of recognition. According to Golf Digest’s Best in State rankings for Massachusetts, Worcester Country Club climbed to 9th in the 2025-’26 list, continuing its steady rise: 20th in 2013-’14, 18th in 2015-’16, 17th in 2019-’20, 12th in 2021-’22, 10th in 2023-’24, and now 9th.

Significant infrastructure and restoration work strengthened the course even further. In the spring of 2025, the irrigation ponds were dredged, providing an additional one million gallons of water storage capacity. This was followed by the final stages of the Gil Hanse restoration, including the rebuilding of the 7th tee, expansion of the 6th approach, and reshaping of the 7th green to enhance playability. All newly renovated areas were opened for play by Memorial Day.

Additional improvements included the replacement of our nearly 25-year-old irrigation pumps and associated piping in the pump stations. In coordination with Head Golf Professional Andy Lane and the Pro Shop team, we installed a set of replica 1925 U.S. Open tee markers and produced a special scorecard featuring the exact yardages from that historic championship. Members and guests enjoyed playing the “1925 U.S. Open Course” during several events throughout the season, reconnecting with the club’s storied past.

The course also served as a proud host for two notable events. In late September, we welcomed the 65th Massachusetts Senior Amateur Championship, which received wide praise from competitors for the exceptional playing conditions. We also hosted a successful fundraiser for the University of Massachusetts Agronomy Alumni, drawing golf course superintendents and industry leaders from across the Northeast. Our course continued to gain positive media attention, including a featured article in Massachusetts Golfer titled “Buried Treasure: Rediscovering Worcester Country Club.”

The 2025 season again tested our resilience with stretches of record heat, humidity, and severe drought through much of the summer and into the fall. Yet Adam Moore and his team delivered outstanding turf conditions throughout, thanks to their systematic approach of spring and fall aerations, topdressing, and precise chemical and fertilizer applications. Their resourcefulness,

efficient budget management, and the continuity of our skilled maintenance staff many of whom return year after year were once again evident. This dedication not only maintained the course at the highest level but continued to earn industry-wide recognition, with several team members advancing to prominent roles at other prestigious clubs.

The restoration, completed under Gil Hanse’s guidance, has truly transformed Worcester Country Club into a masterpiece that honors Donald Ross’s timeless design while enhancing playability and aesthetics. The club’s rich history — highlighted by the 1925 U.S. Open and the inaugural 1927 Ryder Cup remains a living part of the member experience, further enhanced by the new 1925 Open features.

As we look ahead to 2026, we ask all members to continue serving as stewards of this remarkable layout. Please enter and exit bunkers from the low areas, avoid walking on bunker faces, repair your divots (and others’) with turf or sand, rake all disturbed bunker areas thoroughly, and fix as many ball marks as possible on the greens. These small but important efforts will help ensure our course continues to shine for years to come.

The Grounds Committee extends our deepest gratitude to Adam Moore, First Assistant Scott Strong, Second Assistant Brian Boulette, Facilities Manager Nick Bonasoro, and the entire Grounds Staff for their unwavering dedication and outstanding work through the final restoration phases and another demanding season. It has been an extraordinary privilege to serve as Grounds Chairman for over five years and as a member of the Grounds Committee for nearly fifteen years. None of this would have been possible without the outstanding support and dedication of my fellow committee members past and present including Steve Ayers, former Chairmen Arthur Fitzgerald, Mike Grille, and Billy Cosgrove, as well as Joe Bafaro Jr., Dr. Phil Lahey Jr., Dr. Stan Shustak, and Robert Blute. Their collaboration, passion, and steadfast commitment, together with the exceptional management of Worcester Country Club including General Manager Troy Sprister and Head Golf Professional Andy Lane have been instrumental in elevating our historic club to new heights. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to this remarkable legacy.

Respectfully submitted,

Committee Members: Joe Bafaro Jr., Dr. Phil Lahey Jr., Dr. Stan Shustak, Robert Blute

House & Activities Report - AJ Andreoli

Dear Fellow Members,

The House and Activities Committee met monthly with the General Manager and COO Troy Sprister as well as his team to work towards making Worcester Country Club the best possible experience for the entire Membership.

Food and Beverage Service:

The Food and Beverage service continues to excel at Worcester CC. Over the past year we saw another year of strong restaurant usage, which is a credit to the dedication and commitment to excellence that Chef Craig and his staff put into making the dining experience at WCC the best around.

Based on feedback received from a 2025 Membership Survey that had an overwhelming number of responses, several improvements were made to the food beverage service.

Chef has introduced a new dining menu that features some new and innovative dishes along with classic favorites. The addition of weekly specials and a periodically changing menu will offer consistent variety to the dining experience.

Director Food and Beverage Ryan Perkins and Assistant Food and Beverage Manager Morgan McAnulty continue to do a fantastic job supervising and developing the service staff into some of the finest servers and bartenders around.

CaddyShack Pub:

The CaddyShack Pub continues to be a popular offering, especially to our younger families during the off season.

Pool:

The year 2025 was another successful year at the pool despite some rocky weather at the beginning of the season. Members and their guests were treated to new and improved food offerings, drink specials, new furniture for the pool deck, and a wide variety of events for Members of all ages, ranging from karaoke, to live music, and character appearances.

Our younger Members and their families are making friendships and lifelong memories, planting roots that will hopefully continue the legacy of Worcester Country Club Membership for years to come from the pool area. Thanks to John Beahn and his staff for his dedication to improving the pool experience for our Membership.

Events:

The Committee along with Troy Sprister, and former Events Manager Maria Krusas have also discussed ways to drive participation and attendance in the various social events that the Club offers. These events are a fantastic opportunity to connect with friends, meet new friends and Members, and to do something fun.

A survey was recently sent out to the Membership to help improve the events offered by the Club. The Committee has asked all Members to complete the survey, so we have as much feedback as possible. Our goal is to have events that appeal to a wide variety of interests so that our entire Membership can enjoy them.

Finally, I would like to formally recognize and thank Troy Sprister, Executive Chef Craig Cobb, Director of Food and Beverage Ryan Perkins, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage Morgan McAnulty, Aquatics Director John Beahn and their entire staffs for their diligence, creativity, commitment to excellence and passion in making Worcester Country Club the special place that it is. I would encourage the Membership to reach out to our committee with any feedback, ideas or concerns. This is your Club and our goal is to make it the best it can be. Finally, I would like to thank the individuals who make up the H&A Committee. Their dedication, input, advice and commitment to improving the social aspect of the Club have been invaluable: Tim and Katie Lahey, Jen Beaton, Jim Capuano, Dave Griffin, Martha Kelleher, Leah Zilla and Anne Daly.

Worcester Country Club Women’s Golf Association 2025 Season Recap

Dear Fellow Members,

The 2025 season was a highly successful and rewarding year for the Worcester Country Club Women’s Golf Association (WWGA). Our program thrived by offering a dynamic balance of competitive play and social opportunities, all while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for women of all skill levels.

Throughout the season, our weekly programming remained the foundation of our success. The Tuesday Morning League provided both 18-hole and 9-hole options, featuring organized competitions for players of varying handicaps. The Thursday Twilight League continued to grow in popularity, offering a relaxed and social 9-hole team format that welcomed both new and experienced golfers. Informal Saturday morning play also provided members with additional flexibility and opportunities to connect on the course.

Our mixed golf programming remained a highlight of the season. monthly couples’ events, along with the Mixed Match Play Championship, encouraged participation and camaraderie among members and their partners, further enhancing the social fabric of our golf community.

The WWGA hosted a full slate of signature events in 2025. The Ladies Member-Guest once again proved to be a standout event, drawing strong participation and enthusiasm. The Wholeheim Cup competition against The Haven Country Club continued to build on its tradition of friendly rivalry. Additional events, including The Women’s Club Championship, Daniel’s Bowl and our holiday weekend tournamentsMemorial Day, Firecracker Open, and Labor Day were part of the traditional tournament schedule.

Our members also represented Worcester Country Club in statewide competitions through participation in the Massachusetts Golf Association’s Spring and Fall Cup matches. In addition, regional events such as the CHOW League, Mixing Bowl, Bassett Bowl, and Donald Ross Interclub provided valuable opportunities for competitive play and interclub camaraderie.

A continued focus on recruitment and member engagement remained a priority in 2025. Personal outreach by the Ladies Golf Committee played a key role in welcoming new members and integrating them into the program. This approach has strengthened our sense of community and helped ensure that new members feel supported and encouraged to participate.

The WWGA also remained committed to community outreach through Worcester Ladies Golf Incorporated (WLGI), our 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Through WLGI, we continued to support junior girls’ golf by providing access to equipment, instruction, and mentorship. These efforts reflect our ongoing dedication to growing the game and making it accessible to the next generation.

This season also introduced several new initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall member experience. Improved communication through updated materials, expanded social media presence, and the launch of a monthly Ladies Newsletter helped keep members informed and engaged. Our New Golfer Day program successfully introduced newer players to the game through a combination of instruction and on-course experience. Additionally, our celebration of Women’s Golf Day helped raise awareness and promote participation in the sport.

Overall, the 2025 season was defined by strong participation, meaningful connections, and continued growth across all areas of the program. We are proud of the momentum we have built and remain committed to evolving in ways that support both competitive excellence and an inclusive, enjoyable golf experience for all members.

We thank all our members for their enthusiasm and support and look forward to building on this success in the seasons ahead.

Respectfully,
