Forests. The lungs of the earth. Providing oxygen, clean air, water, food and shelter for humans and animals all over the planet and a significant carbon store, whilst helping to regulate the climate and harbour biodiversity. Forests all over the world are under threat.
Each year, millions of acres of forest are lost to deforestation through logging, mining and agriculture. Deforestation hasa devastating impact on the environment. It contributes to climate change, water pollution, air pollution, water shortages and the loss of habitat for plants and animals - a loss of crucial biodiversity. Deforestation not only displaces animals and people but also the communities who rely on forests for their livelihoods; it can also lead to the spread of disease. Action is needed and needed now to protect all forests.
