Oxford Junction is situated on the northern shore of the Wapsipinicon River in southern Jones County. Oxford Junction was platted in 1872, named for its location at the junction of two railroad lines. Often referred to as “OJ” by locals, the small town is a busy place with many events throughout the year.

Oxford Junction Heritage Museum is located at 107 W. Broadway St. and has displays of local history items including an Oxford hay loader and wagon box made by Lasack Brothers & Co. The museum is open Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day or any time by appointment. Having no heirs, he left the residue of his property to the town for a library, educational facilities or charity. Mr. Wregie was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, in 1818 and came to America in 1854, settling near Oxford Mills where he maintained a home with his wife, Louise. The library offi cially had its start on Oct. 3, 1941. An afternoon tea sponsored by the Women’s Community Club was held on that date with sixty-four in attendance. Mrs. W.A. Wolgemuth was the fi rst chairman in activating this with Mrs. Ed Clausen and Mrs. George Cress serving on the committee. Organizations donated money, individuals’ books and the Cedar Rapids Library made a gift of 200 books. Many community events, activities and programs are held at the library. Oxford Junction Legionnaire Ballroom

The Oxford Junction Legionnaire Ballroom, located at 314 3rd Ave. N., is the home of Wapsie American Legion Post 473. The facility, and the adjacent Wapsi Park, is the center of many of Oxford Junction’s community events and activities. The Fourth of July celebration, alumni banquet, fi reman’s breakfast, auctions, dinners are just a few of the events held here. 
