Rock Art Project
The Rock Art Project is about our community recapturing the two years that we have just lived through.
It is about bringing together something of that experience, whether literally something of the place you spent those two years doing distance learning, or the sense you now make of the experience.

But it is also about the possibilities that come from our community returning back together again. This Art Project is about using rocks to create a physical expression both of who we are as a community, and what we can become.

Why rocks?
Because rocks are solid. They express resilience. They last! You have come through two challenging years and you have not just survived, but perhaps even learned new ways to thrive. And part of this project will beocme a permanent exhibit at the CFI for future generations to catch a glimpse of that experience.
Because rocks are beautiful. Look closely and see that each rock has its own unique colour, patterns and shape. The uniqueness of rock has to do with the place it comes from and experiences which have literally shaped it. Some of the most beautiful rocks, like the round rocks in a Himalayan river bed, have gone through the hardest experiences.
Because rocks, when brought together, can build something bigger. When we come together, each with our unique identities and histories, we create both something new and something bigger. After the initial display of our individual rocks, we will be creatively putting the rocks together in unique installations around campus.
Finally, why rocks? Because Woodstock sits on one of the biggest rocks in the world, the Himalayas!
