By Gregory M. Cooper, Thomas McHoes, John E. Douglas
When Gregory M. Cooper, former head of the FBI's Behavior Sciences Unit, founded The Cold Case Foundation in 2013, he had no idea what he was in store for. What started with just a half-dozen, or so retired FBI and homicide detectives has now ballooned to over 150 women and men who volunteer their time in an effort to help families of deceased or missing loved ones bring closure to cases that have gone "cold." The Cold Case Foundation shares the most riveting and rewarding cases that the Foundation has helped to solve, from high-profile missing persons cases to decades-old murders. In a fairly short period of time, The Cold Case Foundation has contributed to the solving of dozens of cases and is helping hundreds more homicide and missing persons investigations move forward. Police departments and victims' families from around the country have taken on the Foundation's services, which are more than welcome for investigators that are increasingly finding themselves with fewer resources - and not enough time - to dedicate to the most difficult cases.
The Cold Case Foundation not only covers the investigative approaches that the foundation's investigators employ and recommend, but also the principles and activities that help communities and law enforcement agencies come together in a spirit of cooperation and trust to help solve cases that, for whatever reason, have gone unsolved - until now.

In spring 1936, the Holy Land erupted in a rebellion that targeted both the local Jewish community and the British Mandate authorities that for two decades had midwifed the Zionist project. The Great Arab Revolt would last three years, cost thousands of lives-Jewish, British, and Arab-and cast the trajectory for the Middle East conflict ever since. Yet incredibly, no history of this seminal, formative first "Intifada" has ever been published for a general audience. The 1936-1939 revolt was the crucible in which Palestinian identity coalesced, uniting rival families, city and country, rich and poor in a single struggle for independence. This is the story of two national movements and the first sustained confrontation between them. The rebellion was Arab, but the Zionist counter-rebellion-the Jews' military, economic, and psychological transformation-is a vital, overlooked element in the chronicle of how Palestine became Israel. Today, eight decades on, the revolt's legacy endures. Hamas's armed wing and rockets carry the name of the fighterpreacher whose death sparked the 1936 rebellion. And when Washington promotes a "two-state solution," it is invoking a plan with roots in this same pivotal period. Based on extensive archival research on three continents and in three languages, Palestine 1936 is the origin story of the world's most intractable conflict, but it is also more than that. In Oren Kessler's engaging, journalistic voice, it reveals world-changing events through extraordinary individuals on all sides: their loves and their hatreds, their deepest fears and profoundest hopes.

Today, biodynamic agriculture is practised in more than 50 countries worldwide and offers a way of growing high-quality produce through the sustainable cultivation of soil, plants and animals. But where did it begin and how did it come to have such an impact?
In this fascinating book, Ueli Hurter and Rudi Bind trace the history and development of the biodynamic movement over a century. They examine the roots of the movement in the Agriculture Course given by Rudolf Steiner in 1924, providing a clear overview of the courses key themes and ideas; they also include reflections from the course participants. The authors describe initiatives that have arisen from biodynamics, such as community-supported agriculture and the creation of seed banks, as well as the influence it has had on the wider organic movement, regenerative farming and the campaign against chemical pesticides and fertilisers.
They also include contemporary examples that demonstrate how biodynamics is helping individuals and communities around the world to thrive, including in Egypt, Brazil, Argentina, Spain and India. This book will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand the origins of biodynamic agriculture, its growth into a worldwide movement and its continuing impact on the world.

It's falling from the sky and in the air we breathe. It's in our food, our clothes, and our homes. It's microplastic and it's everywhere including our own bodies. Scientists are just beginning to discover how these tiny particles threaten health, but the studies are alarming. In A Poison Like No Other, Matt Simon reveals a whole new dimension to the plastic crisis, one even more disturbing than plastic bottles washing up on shores and grocery bags dumped in landfills. Dealing with discarded plastic is bad enough, but when it starts to break down, the real trouble begins. The very thing that makes plastic so useful and ubiquitous - its toughness - means it never really goes away. It just gets smaller and smaller: eventually small enough to enter your lungs or be absorbed by crops or penetrate a fish's muscle tissue before it becomes dinner.

An exciting foray into Earth's inland waters, the remarkable species they contain, and the conservation challenges of protecting them. When we call Earth "the blue planet" we immediately envision the vast oceans that cover most of its surface. But seas aren't the only bodies of water that make Earth special. Millions of diverse inland waters rush, meander, and seep throughout the planet, teeming with life. These streams, lakes, wetlands, and groundwaters are home to countless thousands of species, many of which are extraordinary and some of which are critically endangered. In Beyond the Sea, ecologist David Strayer introduces readers to the world's most remarkable and varied inland waters, including massive lakes that fill only once a century, groundwaters miles beneath our feet that host unique microbes.

Key Sales Points:
*Honey Patch – a 40-acre hobby farm in Central Victoria that author Joy Stone called home for a number of years – provides the backdrop for the story of two boys who come to visit their Grandpa and Nana. JB and his younger brother Rooney learn all about the animals that live on Honey Patch, before getting inspired after watching their Grandpa build a bird nesting box.
*This wonderfully illustrated book offers a fresh take on taking care of local flora and fauna especially when teaching young children.
*For primary school children and their families. One of the aims of the book is to encourage readers to protect wild spaces and have a stronger commitment to conservation.
*Readers are also provided with instructions on how to build their own rosella nesting boxes.
When young JB and Rooney visit their grandparents’ farm, they’re in for more than just a country day trip. While helping Grandpa collect firewood in the Gum Tree Paddock, they spot a goanna and launch into a chat about all the creatures that call the bush their home.
Grandpa shares how he carefully tends to the paddock, creating a sanctuary for native wildlife.
Author Bio:
Joy Stone was raised on a small dairy farm and developed an early love for nature, as she observed the impact of land clearing on native wildlife. Joy was a teacher before focusing on family and later worked in her in her local library hosting preschool story times. Now retired, Joy is dedicated to inspiring environmental awareness through her writing.
Nandina Vines is a passionate illustrator based in the heart of the Hunter Valley in Australia where the lush landscapes and diverse wildlife inspire her every stroke. With a keen eye for detail and a deep love for nature, Nandina specialises in bringing animals to life through her vibrant illustrations. When she’s not illustrating, Nandina enjoys exploring bush walking with her dogs, acrylic painting and spending time with family.
Back at the house after lunch, Grandpa builds a bird nesting box and attaches it to the stump of a freshly cut tree, sparking Rooney’s curiosity.
With Nana’s Nestbox Book in hand, Rooney gets an idea: maybe his cousin Stan, who’s just started woodworking at school, could help build more nest boxes.
With encouragement from Stan’s mom, Aunt Jo, they gather supplies, and soon Stan’s woodwork class jumps in too, turning the project into a community effort.
The Little Homes On Honeypatch culminates with a heartwarming day of hanging nest boxes on trees and sharing a Creekside picnic, showing how small acts of care can make a big difference for nature.

A guide to understanding and supporting the recovery of autistic burnout in children and young people
By Jodie Clarke, Luke Beardon
Burnout is not (yet) a diagnosable condition; however, it is a mental health crisis. The NAS defines it as "a state of physical and mental fatigue, heightened stress, and diminished capacity to manage life skills, sensory input, and/or social interactions, which comes from years of being severely overtaxed by the strain of trying to live up to demands that are out of sync with our needs" (Raymaker, 2020). Many autistic children are completely unable to manage parties at weekends, play dates after school, family outings, holidays even - not necessarily because of their general autistic needs but because they are so heightened by exhaustion and so much in need of downtime/recharge time. Every single day in school is so draining that all time out of school is needed to lift the lid on their emotions, reregulate, recharge and hibernate away from the world. This is a lost childhood. These children end up in a constant state of high alert, becoming like 'meerkats', always on the lookout for the next uncomfortable feeling. bodies flooded with cortisol. This, over prolonged periods of time, causes trauma and leads to that full-scale burnout - the cumulative impact of being in an environment that is not conducive to your neurology. This book aims to help parents and professionals identify and take steps to prevent low-level burnout erupting into longer-term shutdown and provides advice and guidance to support recovery if shutdown has occurred.

If you could find a way to reconnect with your true self, would you? And if you could understand your own needs and practise the sort of comforting and energising, hits-the-spot self-care that would power you through the ups and downs of parenting in a neurodiverse family, would you be tempted to explore that too? This journal provides a warm sense of community where you will feel completely held as you discover how to regulate and centre yourself and how to enliven your life beyond your role as a parent or carer through journaling prompts and imaginative activities designed specifically for this parenting experience.
