600 staff and 100 volunteers help us to provide 40+ programs and services. We work with about 20,000 at-risk children, youth, young adults and families every year. We provide programs and services in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore and Fort McMurray.

Safety is a top priority for Wood’s Homes. In 2019, a Joint Health and Safety Committee was established, along with several site-specific safety committees. Staff are asked to raise any and all safety concerns to these committees. A current list of members (comprised of all levels of staff) is available on the Intranet’s Safety site.

We are accredited through Accreditation Canada and have received Exemplary Standing three times. Accreditation takes place every four years; our last accreditation occurred in June 2019. Learn more at woodshomes.ca/about-us.

Some of our campus-based therapeutic treatment programs are 1/3 the cost of hospital-based treatment. Our Research Department has been measuring program outcomes since 2001 and sharing successes with the larger community. In April 2017, Dr. Angelique Jenney was named the Wood’s Homes Research Chair in Children’s Mental Health – an initiative in partnership with the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Social Work. Those in need of crisis support can reach out to us in a number of ways: Phone, e-therapy, text and LiveChat. Our no-charge, no-wait walk-in counselling services (Eastside Community Mental Health Services) were suspended due to COVID-19 and will be reinstated once provincial health regulations lift.
