10-14 August 2026 Woodleigh
The Activities Week Program provides a means whereby students with a range of differing backgrounds and experiences may broaden their experience and extend their competencies to meet their own individual needs and interests in a particular field for an extended period of time.
The program includes activities from each of the following areas: Outdoor Education including camps, Academic Enrichment and Remediation, Art and Craft, as well as Community Service.
The Activities Week program aims to:
• Provide opportunities to extend and apply school curriculum work in a more realistic, interesting and free environment.
• Improve physical and mental health, through development of interest in outdoor recreation as a non-competitive and individually fulfilling activity.
• Provide opportunities for students to develop skills of cooperative living, leadership, social responsibility and tolerance in group living.
• Provide opportunities for students to develop a sense of personal involvement and fulfilment and to be part of a caring community, as well as to interact with and be of service to the wide community.
• Opportunities for new students and staff to integrate seamlessly into the school community. It also works to strengthen existing student-student and student-teacher relationships.
• Encourage students to develop a fuller understanding and appreciation of the natural environment; to help them to become comfortable in “living with nature” to develop positive attitudes and approaches for preserving and conserving natural environments.
• Provide opportunities for students to develop an understanding of their own capabilities and the capabilities and limitations of others, through a variety of experiences.
• Provide opportunities for students to develop the attitudes and skills associated with self-reliance, especially in an outdoor situation; to develop self confidence and self-esteem through activities conducted in both urban and natural environments.
• Provide opportunity for students to express and extend their individual talents and have these recognised in a supportive way; in particular to provide a different situation for those who have less success (socially, academically and physically) in school and elsewhere.
• Provide mental and emotional satisfaction and practical benefit from exploring and developing an understanding of natural and urban environments.
The camps are listed in four groups:
Overnight Camps (off-campus for the entire week).
Off-campus Programs (off-campus daily).
School-based Programs (based at school or based at school and travelling off-campus occasionally throughout the week).
Pre-booked Camps.
All camps vary in cost - please check approximate price range at the bottom of each camp description.
To help in the decision making process, all camps are rated on a challenge level of Social, Physical and Creative ability. Each camp is colour coded as follows:
Low/easy/less challenging level of camp.
Medium risk/challenge level of camp.
Higher risk or very challenging level of camp.
To ensure the camp would be a good fit for students, please make sure to take note of the ratings before considering balloting for the camp.
The ballot process will need to be completed online via Web Preferences.
You will receive an email which will direct you to complete your ballot online.
The online ballot opens on Monday 11 May 2026 and closes at 4pm on Monday 18 May 2026
After you select your preferences and finalise your ballot, you will receive a confirmation reference number. If you don’t receive a reference number, it means your ballot hasn’t been processed correctly. Any questions, please ask Mr Peach, or see the Computer Techs with any email/ballot issues.
Parents will be sent an email with a link on Monday 11 May to confirm they have completed the ballot with you and consent to your final ballot preferences. This link will need to be completed by no later than Tuesday 19 May 2026 after you have confirmation of your submitted preferences.
You should consider your six choices carefully. Every attempt will be made to give you one of your six choices
Use the time between now and the ballot to discuss your possible choices with parents, guardians, friends, teachers involved and students who may have participated on that camp in previous years. Preference in all camps will go to those who have not previously completed that camp.
Make sure you select each choice carefully, not just your first choice but your second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth choices as well. Students are unable to pre-book most camps offered to ensure that everyone has an equal chance of obtaining one of their preferences. However, some camps which require students with some previous experience may be pre-booked with the teacher in charge.
All camps incur costs. The costs are set as a price range, and will vary once all the bookings are finalised. The final cost of the camp will be charged to student accounts. Students who do not attend, for whatever reason, will be charged in accordance with the “Policy Relating to Students Withdrawing from Activities Week” below.
Once students have been allocated a camp and the Consent2Go permission form has been released, please check camp dates and times within the camp booklet, as some camps run outside the normal school week – i.e. some camps will have a Sunday departure or return after school hours, etc.
The majority of camps are being held from Monday 10 to Friday 14 August, however Snow Camps commence from Sunday 9 August, and the New Zealand (pre-booked) Snow Camp commences from Saturday 8 August.
When you ballot, please select your pre-booked camp first and then follow the instructions on screen. The following camps are pre-booked:
• School Production.
• Snow Sports Race Team.
• New Zealand Downhill Ski/Board Camp.
Several camps require students to participate in a pre-camp Activity in order to adequately prepare for the upcoming camp.
If a student is allocated one of these camps, they must complete the pre-camp Activity and for some of these Activities, there is an additional charge. Please be aware that while this is not a direct camp cost, parents/guardians accepting the ballot parental consent form indicates the parents'/guardians' commitment to their child/children participating in the Activity and paying the additional fee for the Activity.
Camps with a Compulsory Pre-camp Activity:
• Beechworth MTB Epic
• Cross Country Skiing
• Falls Creek Downhill Ski/Board
• Fishing the Sapphire Coast
• New Zealand Downhill Ski/Board
• Mt Arapiles Rock Climbing
• Mt Hotham Downhill Ski/Board

• Online ballot opens to Years 7-11 students on Monday 11 May 2026
• Pre-ballot Ski/Board Ability Form link for Downhill Ski/Board Snow Camp sent to parents via email/SchoolStream on Monday 11 May 2026. This form must be completed by Monday 18 May 2026 for those students intending to ballot for a Downhill Snow Camp.
• Ballot Preference Parental Consent Form link sent to parents via email/SchoolStream on Monday 11 May 2026. This form must be completed after the student has confirmation of submitted preferences and should be signed off by parents/guardians by no later than Tuesday 19 May 2026
• Online ballot closes at 4pm on Monday 18 May 2026
• Participation by students in Activities Week is a compulsory part of the school curriculum and all students are expected to participate. Bookings and arrangements are made on this expectation.
• In exceptional circumstances students may apply in writing to the Principal or Deputy Principal for an exemption from Activities Week but only where this takes place before the camp ballot closes or any organising of the camp takes place. In these cases, a proportion of camps/activity costs will be charged to offset camp fixed costs.
Permission is usually only granted where it involves a comparable activity and effort by the student (such as a national-level sporting event).
In the event that a student withdraws from the camp due to medical reasons, the school requires prior written notice accompanied by a valid medical certificate. In such cases, families will be responsible for all non-refundable costs incurred, including but not limited to flights, accommodation, and other pre-paid expenses.
For cancellations due to a change of mind or any non-medical reasons, families will be charged the full camp fee.

Ideal for students aged 14 years and over.
Aviation Camp takes us once again to Tocumwal where we will be based for the whole week. The airport will enable us to fly in more varied conditions due to huge runways (made for jets) and cross strips.
Students will undertake a customised intensive training course dependent on what level they are with their flying. We will be using the facilities available at the airport to undertake theory and flight planning sessions as well as downtime. It is expected that many students will undertake their first solo flights, final flight tests for Pilot Certificates, Cross Country and other Endorsements from this airport.
This camp has proven to be a very effective way to accelerate students’ training and reduces the number of hours required for a student to become qualified. Parents and students will have full control of their own flying hours and there is an opportunity to discuss this with Aviation staff shortly after the ballot.
The cost of flying is additional and you will receive a letter with an estimate of these costs prior to the end of Term 2.
Please note this camp will depart Tyabb on Monday immediately following the safety briefing at 9:00am. Wheels up no later than 10:30am (weather permitting). Parents are welcome to watch the
fleet depart. Students will start to arrive back at Tyabb on Friday at 4:00pm (weather permitting) and parents can collect students once aircraft are hangared.
IMPORTANT: Before balloting for this camp, please email: mscott@woodleigh.vic.edu.au or phone 03 5971 6100 and ask to speak to Mr Scott before committing to this camp.

Welcome to the epic trails of Beechworth! We will be exploring the various Cross Country Mountain Bike trails in and around the town, including the Indigo Epic trail.
We will be staying in town near multiple trail heads. Beechworth is a historic gold rush town, and now home to exhilarating trails and famous pies at the local bakery! The week will be spent exploring the IMBA-recognised Indigo Epic, along with other nearby trails such as the Beechworth MTB Park and Yack Tracks. This will include a day ride from Beechworth, taking in 24km of flowing single track down into Yackandandah, before shuttling back to Beechworth. Mountain bikes with front or dual suspension are necessary, and bikes suited to cross country (rather than a gravityfocused bike) will be ideal for this camp.
This mountain biking journey will take in some of the best trails Victoria has to offer.
PLEASE NOTE: This camp is for students with experience on a mountain bike. Students should be comfortable riding blue level MTB trails. Intermediate fitness is required for Cross Country Mountain Biking, which will include extended periods riding uphill. Students are required to undertake a pre-camp Spin (offsite) and Bike Riding Skills (onsite) Activity once they are placed into this camp.
Please speak to Mr Angelico if you have concerns about your bike experience.

Join us for five days of surfing and exploring Victoria’s Surf Coast.
From our base at Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club overlooking the ocean, we’ll walk down to the beach for a daily surfing lesson under the tuition of a surf school and qualified instructors. These sessions are an introduction to surfing, so the focus is on the participant working towards a controlled ride when lying prone on the board and being able to stand on the board on a broken wave, through to being able to stand on an unbroken wave and turning. You’ll have the opportunity to hone your skills on the board as well as acquire the knowledge to read the surf and weather conditions with greater confidence. Whilst on Victoria’s Surf Coast we will explore the area with a few walks along the coast and visits to some iconic beaches and townships of the area.
All surf equipment, including wetsuits, will be provided however if you have your own wetsuit, feel free to bring it along (3x4mm wetsuits, bonnets and booties are mostly recommended).
This is a great opportunity to build your skills, stamina & fitness in the surf whilst also connecting with Victoria’s unique coastal environment. We can’t wait to have your company.

Two downhill snow camps are on offer for first timers and intermediates – one at Falls Creek and one at Mt Hotham. (The Snow Sports Race Team is a separate pre-booked camp for advanced skiers and boarders only).
As part of the upcoming camp ballot process, you will have the opportunity to express interest in a snow camp option. An email with a form link will be sent to parents/guardians to gather information regarding each student’s level of snow experience.
This information will assist in determining the most appropriate camp. Falls Creek is specifically designed for first timers or those wishing to try a new discipline. Mt Hotham is structured for those who have had a minimum of two weeks at the snow. Only first timers will be allocated to Falls Creek. Preference for each camp will be given to those who have not attended one before. It is important that you are honest about your ability.
Your parents MUST complete the Additional Information for Downhill Ski/Board Snow Camp form by no later than Monday 18 May in order for you to be considered for a snow camp. Completing this form does not guarantee you a place on a snow camp.
You will indicate on the form whether you want to Ski or Board (you may not be able to change this decision once the groups are made up), and your experience level:
• Beginner: I have never been on skis/board.
• Novice: I am comfortable on green runs (I can ski linked turns or board “falling leaf” on most green runs).
• Intermediate: I am comfortable on blue runs (I can ski parallel turns or board linked turns, hockey stop and side slip on blue runs).
Students selected for these camps will be placed in the pre-ski Activity for Unit 4 Activities.
Please Note: Helmets are required for both skiers and boarders on both camps. Boarders are also required to wear wrist guards.
The Falls Creek Camp is specifically designed for first-time skiers and snowboarders. This six-day downhill skiing/boarding camp will run from Sunday 9 August to Friday 14 August. This camp is for those students who have no experience or are unable to ski or board confidently and manage ski-lifts independently. The camp is also suitable for students wishing to learn a new discipline, you may be a skier but would like to learn to snowboard or a snowboarder who wishes to learn to ski. As a result, all lessons will be organised at a novice level. We will have a 90 minute lesson each morning and the afternoons will consist of a second lesson as well as time to ski/ board in our groups to consolidate our skills. We will organise the hire of ski/ board, night skiing, night show, lift passes and lessons. Skiing and Snowboarding is physically demanding, especially when learning and a good level of personal fitness is required for this camp.
The cost of this camp includes 'on mountain' accommodation, breakfast and dinner, lift passes and lessons, resort entry, transportation to and from the mountain, night skiing and staffing. Breakfast, and Dinners will be provided at Diana Alpine Lodge, however students will need to purchase lunch on the mountain each day.

Join Ms De Jong and the McCormack family on the ride of a lifetime through The Man from Snowy River country.
The ride starts from Merrijig (near Mansfield). On the first day we ride to Bruce and Debra McCormack’s 360 acre property in the beautiful Buttercup Valley, where we set up a base camp for the rest of the week. The week is spent riding through stunning bushland, taking in breathtaking views of Mt Buller, Mt Stirling and the Delatite Valley, returning to Buttercup Valley to camp each night. If the weather permits, we may even ride up to the snow line! The evening meals (prepared by the McCormacks) are absolutely delicious. Prepare yourself for a challenging and exhilarating experience.
It is highly advisable to have some riding experience (e.g. to have completed the Gunnamatta Trail Ride Camp) as the terrain can be challenging at times.
Students will require a “Driza-Bone” style long coat (some are available to borrow, so please don’t go out and buy one), appropriate boots and pants to ride in and proper thermal underwear.

Nestled in the hills of Hepburn Springs, we will use our communal accommodation as our home for the week. The goal of the week is to energise and revive our body and mind through creativity, healthy cooking and mindful actions as well as physical activities. Each day we will walk through sections of spectacular surrounding areas, learning about the beautiful natural environment of the Daylesford and Hepburn region. Other activities will include a visit to Rocklyn Yoga Ashram, a walk to the summit of Hanging Rock, a visit to a local chocolate factory, as well as other recreational activities. There will be time to explore surrounding areas of Castlemaine and Daylesford, and students will assist staff with meal preparation at the end of each day.
We will also visit The Mill Market to view and explore an array of arts, vintage fashion and retro memorabilia. Purchases may be possible (optional) on this day.
A major component of the camp will involve students working on a ‘personal passion’ project. There is significant time devoted to engaging in this project and so an expectation is that the project will have substance and be well-planned. It could include (but not be restricted to) the following: writing, knitting, drawing, creating, model making, song writing, and or painting. There will be a sharing of projects at the end of the week.
We encourage students to bring their passion for the outdoors, creative activities and cooking.

This camp will be based around the Sapphire Coast region of southern New South Wales, with students staying near Pambula and travelling to a range of fishing locations throughout the week. We will stop for fishing sessions in Mallacoota on the way to and from camp, and spend several days exploring estuaries, beaches, inlets and river systems around Pambula and Merimbula.
The camp will focus on fishing as much as possible, with students likely to fish twice per day on most days. Locations may include the Pambula Broadwater, Pambula River Mouth, Pambula Beach, Merimbula Lake Channel and several areas around Mallacoota. Depending on conditions, students may fish from jetties, beaches, lake edges and estuary banks.
The chosen locations offer excellent winter fishing for Australian salmon, bream, flathead, tailor and trevally. Students will learn about estuary and beach fishing, bait collection, fish behaviour, tides, local ecosystems and sustainable fishing practices. We are also hoping to include a whale watching trip and potentially a beach worming or bait collection lesson as part of the week.
Transport, accommodation, bait, and lots of fishing will be included. Size and bag limits will be strictly enforced and catch and release will be encouraged where appropriate to reflect sustainable fishing practices.
No fishing licence is required for anyone under 18 years of age in NSW or Victoria. No knowledge of fishing is assumed, as we will show you how, but all participants will need to supply their own fishing equipment.
This camp will also include a necessary pre-camp Activity (Unit 4) where we will learn key fishing skills such as: knot tying, rig making, reel maintenance, and knowing where and when to fish for the best conditions. We will also aim to head to Mornington for some practise runs during the Activity.

Students will explore different roles such as directing, acting, camera work, and editing while developing skills in storytelling, collaboration, and creative planning. Films will be developed across a range of genres, from music video to green screen, with a final film of your choice. This is your chance to bring that script idea to life and see it on Woodleigh’s big screen.
The camp concludes with a screening showcase, providing an opportunity to share completed films and reflect on the creative process.
The camp will be based at school and most equipment will be supplied - however, students are welcome to bring their own technical gear, props and costumes to realise their ideas.

Fashion shouldn’t cost the Earth. Slow fashion is an approach in which designers, buyers, retailers, and consumers are more aware of the impacts of products on workers, communities, and ecosystems. During this week, students will have the opportunity to dive into the world of sustainable fashion and explore the concept of slow fashion. Vivienne Westwood said “Buy less, choose well, make it last”. We will explore this philosophy in several ways over the week including learning about quality fabrics and staples, recycling and reusing through shopping at second-hand shops and learning some basic sewing skills at the Recycled Sewing Studio. We will utilise these introductory sewing skills to make alterations or even entirely new designs. Students will also have the unique opportunity to attend a sustainable and ethical clothing tour in Melbourne with a local expert. Through this camp students will gain a better understanding of the impact of their fashion choices on the environment and society.
This camp is best for students who are into fashion, vintage clothing, op-shopping, sewing, sustainability, café-culture and Rosa-bus-mix-tapes.
*Camp cost excludes spending money for op-shops, so please do budget in a modest sum for clothes and accessories shopping.

This camp is all about the magic of tabletop gaming—the stories we tell, the strategies we build, and the friendships we forge along the way. Whether you're a seasoned Dungeons and Dragons adventurer or picking up a d20 for the first time, there is a seat at the table for you.
The Main Quest
Throughout the week, you’ll have the chance to join deep-dive role-playing campaigns, collaborate with a team to tackle fantasy quests, try some one-shot roleplaying and even step behind the screen to learn the art of being a Dungeon Master. We’ll also be diving into our collection of board games and make new friends while tackling games like Catan, Pandemic, Mysterium and Werewolf.
Tabletop gaming is a team sport! A major focus of this camp is getting to know other people who share your interests, with collaborative social games designed to build communication skills, foster teamwork, and help you make lasting connections with fellow students.
Side Quests
Throughout the week we’ll have creative stations available featuring knitting, felting, crochet, and other fun textile crafts. These are perfect for those moments when you need a tactile "brain-break" or want to tinker with something hands-on while planning your next tactical move. You’ll also have the chance to or bring your characters to life with 3D modelling, printing and painting, or take your role-play to the next level with hand-made costumes and props!
