Dear Friends, Thank you for supporting our student athletes! The Woodlands Christian Academy has a strong history of athletic success, and our competitive sports programs are popular with our students. Our school’s mission is to equip well-rounded Warriors for Christ - spiritually, academically, physically, and socially to fulfill God’s unique purpose for each of their lives. We offer a challenging Christian college-preparatory education, and athletics are an integral part of our students’ overall school experience. Furthermore, faculty and coaches encourage students daily through strong mentoring relationships. As a result, our students perform extremely well on standardized tests, and graduates receive impressive college acceptances from a wide range of top universities as well as merit-based college scholarships in excess of $104,000 per student for the latest graduating class. Many of our graduates continue to pursue athletics in college. Most importantly, however, our students are challenged to build their lives on the foundation of Jesus Christ. I am so proud of our student athletes, and your encouragement really makes a huge difference to them. Go Warriors and never forget, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” (Judges 6:12b) Serving Him,

The Woodlands Christian Athletic Program is an integral part of the educational experience at our school. We strive to have our athletes reach their full potential in all areas of the athletic experience academically, socially, spiritually and through the realm of competition. As our students become involved in our athletic programs at Woodlands Christian, they will experience some of the most rewarding moments in their lives. Student athletes are striving to succeed in two demanding areas simultaneously academics and athletics.
We encourage our families to come out and support our Warrior athletes. Your participation helps build a strong Christian community where We RELATE, We TRANSFORM and We CELEBRATE our student athletes.

Our programs have sustained a wide-range of achievement this year. Varsity volleyball was ranked 2nd in the state, and both the varsity boys and girls crosscountry teams are TAPPS state champions. In middle school, the cross-country girls won district, and the middle school football team won the Gulf Coast League championship. I could not be prouder of the dedication and commitment these young men and women show every day to shine as students, as athletes and as the next generation of world leaders.

Word from the Warrior Booster Chair
Hello Warriors! I am extremely proud of the successes of the Warrior Booster Committee and so very grateful for the tremendous support of our Warrior families. Our membership is at an all-time high with 113 families. Thank you Kim Murphy and Amy Torres, Membership Chairs, for your hard work! With the $169,634 raised so far this year, our athletic department has been able to purchase permanent seating for our softball field, cheerleading uniforms, a volleyball pole system, middle school cross-country and track uniforms, and new gym chairs. Here is a brief update of some of our recent activities
• Thank you to Mari Harvey and Alison Veldekens for promoting the Warrior Athletic Guide. The
fall issue has been well received by our Warrior community.
• Our annual golf tournament was a great success. Katrina Savage, Golf Tournament Chair, hosted
a fantastic tournament. Our title sponsor, Waste Connections, 84 golfers and many volunteers helped raised $43,000!
• Warrior Cookers, Travis Jadlot and Will Murphy, and the many others who prepared a BBQ dinner
for over 450 guests for Grand Days.
• Athletes were honored at the Fall Sports Banquet held at the Palmer Course Country Club. Many
thanks to banquet coordinators, Angela Carroway and Danielle O’Brien, for a wonderful evening.

arrior Varsity Head Coaches
T
anner Field is entering his 5th year as a head varsity boy's basketball coach. He spent his first 3 years at Aggieland Homeschool in College Station, TX where he helped the Panthers to an
overall record of 120-41 and making it to the final four of the National Christian Homeschool Boys Championship Tournament. In his first season with the Warriors (2016-2017), the Varsity Boys team was 26-6 overall, 10-2 in District, and finished as the TAPPS 4A District 5 Runner Up. They went on to become Regional Champions and lost in the Final Four of the TAPPS 4A state tournament. Coach Field is extremely passionate about his players and in 4 years as a head coach has seen 5 of his former players go on to play college basketball.
K
evin Zubke is in his 20th year of coaching high school girl's basketball and is currently in his 5th year of coaching the girls varsity basketball team at TWCA. Coach Zubke started his coaching
career in Indiana public schools where he had numerous seasons ranked in the state at the class 3A level. Coach Zubke moved to Houston in 2012 and became our varsity men’s assistant basketball coach, helping the team reach the state finals and earn state runner up honors. The following year he took over the girls basketball program at TWCA. In year two he led the girls’ program to a 2nd place district finish and a first round playoff win. In coach Zubke’s five years at TWCA the girls have made the playoffs every year, improving on their record each year.
J
anel Jackson is a former cheerleader from Kentucky who has been coaching cheerleading and dance for over 25 years. She is the founder and former owner of The Allegiance Cheer Company, former
coach at Woodlands Elite, and currently the head varsity coach at The Woodlands Christian Academy. Coach Jackson has been judging cheer for over 13 years, is a USASF safety and panel judge for numerous competitions such as NCA, The Summit, USASF World Championships, Cheersport, UIL High School Championships, Cheer Power, Aloha Productions, the International Championships of the World, and has been on the selection committee for USA Olympic gymnastics team. Coach Jackson has been doing choreography for middle school, high school, colleges and all-star programs for over ten years, as well as halftime shows for The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, The Orange Bowl, and concert performances for NSync, Mariah Carey and Madonna. She is USASF levels 1-6 certified, AACCA certified, NFHS certified and a former tumbling coach for Bella and Marta Karolyi at The US Olympic Training Center.

isa Murphy was an All-American NAIA swimmer from Pennsylvania. She has been TWCA's varsity head swim coach for two years. Prior to coming to TWCA, she was the varsity head
coach for another local private school. Her first year coaching at TWCA, four girls qualified for TAPPS state meet and the team placed 4th overall. This season, the swim team is strong and looks forward to a steller performace at the
