Lower School News Art Students Enter Contest Artists in Mrs. Helen Pierce’s lower and middle school art classes created drawings and watercolors which were submitted to the Woodlands Wildflower Poster Contest. This annual contest is open to all public, private and home-schooled students.

The Woodlands Wildflower Festival will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park.

First Grade Goes Wild!

First grade students enjoyed getting up close and personal with various insects and reptiles during a special visit from Barbara Cargill, director of the Wonders of The Woodlands nature program (see photo at right). Mrs. Cargill delighted the students with many fun and interesting facts about God’s amazing creations!

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Football Prepares For District Schedule The homecoming game against HSAA on Friday, October 5 certainly lived up to its billing! The Warriors came out ready to play and put on a spectacular offense show, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the visiting Blue Angels from HSAA Dallas. Despite a strong effort, the Warriors came up short in a 25-28 loss.

The all important district portion of the schedule begins this Friday, October 12 as the team travels to take on the Eagles of Rosehill Christian. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

1st Annual Booster Club Golf Tournament A Great Success!

On a delightful late September day, 109 golfers gathered at the Panther Trails golf course for the 1st Annual Woodlands Christian Booster Club Golf Tournament.

Coaches and members of our golf team participated along with parents, grandparents and community friends.

Congratulations to the winning team: Scott Andersen, Austin Andersen, Allie Andersen and Kurt Williams.

Nate Sanford, head football coach was the emcee for the event which included opportunities to win over 50 prizes including golf equipment, dinners at local restaurants and spa treatments.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will support both the athletic and fine arts departments.

Thanks to everyone who participated in and supported this fantastic event!

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Volleyball In Bi-District Playoffs The Warrior varsity volleyball team has qualified for the bi-district playoffs!

The Warriors face Bay Area Christian on Tuesday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. The match will be played at Bay Area Christian. For directions, click here.

To commemorate this event, special t-shirts are available and may be ordered through The Armory or by clicking here. (See image at left for design. Shirts will be delivered to The Armory on Thursday, October 18.)

Go Warrior Volleyball!

Warrior Cross Country Update -- by Coach Tom Earle In the midst of last week’s homecoming festivities, the Warrior cross country team competed in the Nike South Meet against 67 schools from six different states.

In the girls’ 3200m race three runners earned medals as follows: Hannah Shearer finished in second place. Riley Farra finished in 17th place and Alyssa Regier finished in 20th place.

For the guys, Luke Shearer ran a strong race in the 500m setting a school record with a time of 18:01.8. Logan Shearer ran a personal best time and Nate Regier nearly tied his personal best.

With only two weeks remaining in the cross country season, each athlete is giving his/her all.

Our varsity girls’ team is ranked fifth in the state and the varsity boys’ team is ranked third.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Warrior Swimming -- by Coach Kathryn Bub The Warrior varsity swim team competed in its first meet of the season on October 6. The competition included nine public schools from Tomball, Houston, Spring, Ft. Bend County, and surrounding areas. The only other private school in the competition was Lutheran South.

True to their Warrior spirit, the Woodlands Christian swimmers finished the meet in 8th place overall.

With less than a month of training, the swimmers competed very well. Finishing in the top eight spots in their events were: Hannah Bub (1st place-200m individual medley, 1st place-100m breaststroke). Hailey Hanigan (3rd place-200m freestyle, 6th place 100m butterfly), and the 200m freestyle relay team of Hailey Hanigan,

Jordan Hanigan, Katie Albertson and Hannah Bub finished in 8th place.

All other swimmers on the team contributed by scoring points for the Warriors. They are as follows: Hannah Bub (200 medley relay), Katie Albertson (100m backstroke), Kyle Caddell (200m medley and freestyle relays), Jeffrey Chen (200m medley and freestyle relays, 200m individual medley, and 100m freestyle), Noah Dumas (200m medley relay), Ashley Enriquez (200m medley relay), Hailey Hanigan (200m medley relay), Jordan Hanigan (100m backstroke), Sarah Mansfield (200m medley relay and 50m freestyle), Michelle McAden (50m freestyle), Travis Ray (200m freestyle relay), and Drew Ross (200m medley and freestyle relays, and 50m freestyle).

Next up for the Warriors is the LCISD Private School Invitational meet to be held on October 27 in Rosenberg, Texas.

Students exhibiting the following symptoms should be kept home from school for the well-being of the school community and to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

Running a fever over 100.5 Suspected contagious disease, including head lice Vomiting or diarrhea Severe stomach ache, headache or earache Inability to remain in class due to illness or injury

All students must be fever, vomiting and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of symptom-reducing medication before returning to school.

Woodlands Christian’s policy is that students are not allowed to carry medications of any type. This includes, but is not limited to, Tylenol, Advil, cough drops, inhalers (without a note from a doctor's note), vitamins, etc. Students caught with any type of medication in their possession may be subject to disciplinary consequences.
